Sophie's 5th Birthday

On December 17th 2011, Sophie Adair was born.  

She was a big (8lb 12oz), cute, perfect baby girl.

 Then she turned into a nap-loving, sassy, fun little girl.

Now she's a loving, smart, beautiful five year old!

A few months back, the end of September, Sophie got to go on an early birthday date with Grandpa Kent and Grandma Suzy before they headed off on their mission.  She went to Noodles and Company and then picked out a My Little Pony boat for her present.

Today was her actual birthday.  She picked to go see Moana as a family.  We also invited Maren, Tim, Charlotte, Lorelai, Nana and Grandpa to go with us.

 She loved getting a few presents at the theater.  Some more little toy dogs to play with!

 She also wanted to see Santa and the reindeer, but the line for Santa was very long, so we decided to just go visit a few of his reindeer.

 

 Then we went to Burger King for dinner.  Sophie wanted to go somewhere with a play-ground.  However, hardly anyone was hungry after filling up on popcorn and soda all afternoon at the movie.  Sophie only ate one bite of her hamburger.

After dinner we headed home to finish up a few of our Saturday chores and Lily made the cake for Sophie's birthday.  Sophie really wanted to open her presents, but was being very patient until we were ready.

 Her cake turned out pretty good and Lily made a big S out of chocolate sprinkles and Sophie put on the 5 candle Nana and Grandpa had given her.

 We sang and Sophie blew out the candles.

 Then she opened her presents.  The kids gave her a cozy "Trolls" sweatshirt.

 She LOVED all of her presents!  And said it was the best birthday ever!

 

I can't believe my baby is no longer a baby.

Last night when I peaked in on Sophie after she'd fallen asleep, I got a bit teary-eyed knowing my baby was turning 5!  It's a bitter-sweet day for me.  We are so glad Sophie's a part of our family!

Here are five things I love most about Sophie:

1. She loves to play with her toys either by herself or with friends and has a great imagination.

2. She is very animated when she talks and loves to learn new things.

3. She is a mama's girl and is my constant buddy, and she is adored by her siblings.

4.  She gives great hugs and kisses.

5. She is a joy to be around and makes our family complete.

Fall in a Nutshell

I appologize, I am so behind on my blog posts that I'm going to try to sum up fall in one long post...  

September

Lily's new perm!

Tom and his sister, Teresa ran in the Pocatello marathon.

We watched our niece, Charlotte while her mom, Maren was in the hospital having a baby.

Lorelai Olivia is our newest niece!  She was born September 2nd.  We love her!

Sophie started her first day of preschool.  She loves school!

BYU vs UTAH game day

We love our tradtion of going to the State fair!  Our friends, Kristi and Neil and their kids came too.

Our niece, Aubree got her mission call!  She leaves in January for Bangkok, Thailand!

My dad, Aimee and I always listen to my mom's funeral and look at the videos and scrapbook on September 11th.  It's been five years and I still miss her like CRAZY!

 
The following weekend we celebrated her birthday and visited her and other loved ones graves at the cemetery.

We got to babysit three-week-old Lorelai and her sister, Charlotte one night.  It was so fun to see my kids with her!  We don't have many babies around here.

Tom ran in the Tetons Ragnar with some buddies from work.

October

Tom and Teresa ran in the St. George marathon.  It was their tenth time doing the St. George marathon.

Halloween party at the pumpkin patch hosted by our real estate cousins.

We did the witch hunt at Gardner Village.

Lily and her friend, Livvy at the school choir concert.  Lily even sang a solo!

My birthday!  I met Tom for lunch and enjoyed giving myself somewhat of a 'day off'.

Later in the month my friends, Tiffany and Chris took me out for dinner and then we met up with the husbands to go see a movie. "Keeping up with the Jones's".

My dad and Suzy were set apart as missionaries.  They went into the MTC the end of October.

The Friday before Halloween we had a few parties.  Cedric was a dinosaur for his class party.

Then we went up to Tom's work party.

Grandma Kay joined us for the fun.

Then we carved pumpkins!  It was a busy day.

The next day, Saturday the 29th we painted our front living room.

Lily made cookies for the neighborhood Trunk-or-Treat and I did my traditional mac and cheese.

Jeff's pumpkin won third place in the pumpkin carving contest.

Tom missed the whole party because he was waiting for our new fridge to be delivered.  Little did we know that fridge (and downstairs TV) were the first items to break in a long line of bad luck...

I had been serving in the Young Women's presidency as second councilor for the past three years.  I served with these amazing sisters: Libby, Chris, Carolynn, Sandra, Helen and Robyn.

The end of October the Young Women's presidency was re-organized and I became the new YW president!  I now serve with these great ladies: Chris (laurel adviser), Tiffany (2nd councilor), Carolynn (3rd councilor), Kenna (Beehive adviser), Terri (Mia Maid adviser) and Melissa (secretary).  It has been a new adventure for me.  I've learned a lot of things such as how to be a leader, how to delegate, how to be patient, how to be on-time and how Sunday's are now my busiest day of the week.

Halloween night the kids went trick-or-treating.  Tom and Maren took Charlotte, Cedric and Sophie.  I stayed home with Lorelai (who did not like me that night and cried most of the time).

Tom took the boys to a Grizzlies Game.

For a date night, Tom and I went with his high school buddies (and wives) to a shooting range.  This was a new experience for me, but made me understand guns a lot better.

November

Jeff and Cedric started Tae Kwon Do.

The dishwasher broke!  We didn't want to fork out more money, so we just bought a used dishwasher on the FB yard sale.  It ended up leaking, so on black Friday, we bought a brand-new dishwasher.

We had a farewell dinner for Dad and Suzy before they flew to Manchester, England where they will be missionaries for 12 months and working with the young single adults out there.

We'll miss them, but glad there's things like email, Facebook and Skype that help narrow the distance.

We had our Young Women in Excellence night.  The girls were all Be-YOU-tiful!

We ordered new carpet to be put in the main rooms of our house back when we bought the fridge.  They said it wouldn't come until December, but then we got a call in November saying they could be there the next morning to put it in! 

So Tom and I spent eight hours and were up until 2am getting ready; tearing up the old carpet, painting, moving furniture, etc.  

But it was worth it.  We LOVE our new carpet!

I also got a new perm that day.

Jeff and Cedric participated in the pinewood derby.  Cedric came in third place.

and Jeff came in forth by less than a second behind is little brother (which didn't go over so well).

We had a memorable election year.  We were all surprised to wake up and find out our next president will be Donald Trump.  Mixed emotions with that for me.

I was on Lily's middle school Facebook page and saw this picture!  Lily's "voting" at their school when they held a pretend election and let the kids practice voting. 

Thanksgiving!

This year Mike and Karyn hosted and the holiday did not disappoint.  Well, except for the fact that Jeff caused Tom to get a black eye when they were playing Turkey Bowl that morning. 

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. The kids play while the adults visit and shop. 

Aaand then the dryer broke.  Our garage looked like a repair shop with a dryer taken apart and a couple of dishwashers sitting around.  Luckily, Tom was able to get a new motor and belt and it works fine now.  So between a new fridge, a used dishwasher, a new dishwasher, a fixed dryer, TV, two new car batteries (one for each vehicle) and new carpet, we spent more in the last month on repairs than we have in the past few years.

Our kids got to dog-sit for our neighbors while they were gone.  The girls loved going over and playing with Penny.

We got our first real snow of the season the end of November.  Sophie was excited!
