We went for a Reif family excursion to see Uncle Matt in Brooklyn on Saturday.
We woke up and got ready to go and were out the door by 10ish. We stopped in Manhattan to trek around SoHo for a bit, and headed over the bridge on our way to Greenpoint.
Ry was really fussy during our trip, but we didn't think much of it. We carried him or had him in the stroller a bunch, but when we tried to have him walk, he wouldn't. Honestly he's a little grouchy sometimes for no reason, so we weren't really that alarmed.
We got home and were ready to let the kids play out back in the sprinkler, to tire them out, and Ry wouldn't walk. Like, he cried when he had weight on both feet and just collapsed to the ground and crawled.
We made the decision for me to take him to the ER for xrays. Holy cow - Virtua Voorhees' new facilities are amazing. They have a separate emergency room for children. For the most part, Ry was a total charmer.
He had a few sets of xrays done (not fun having to pin your child down on a table in a weird room...), and the doctor said it looked like a buckle fracture. They wrapped his leg in a splint and sent him home.
We hung at the house for most of the day on Sunday and I took him to the Orthopedist today. The doctor said that he'd have the cast off in 3 weeks and would be just fine. Ry chose a purple cast. I think it's because he knows Ben likes purple and he wants to be like his big brother.
He's still not walking on it. He's insisting on crawling all over the house like a baby. We can hear him coming because he thumps along loudly. It's actually kind of cute. Could be worse, right? Way worse.
