David: "Mom, when we get resurrected will we have immortal bodies?" Me: "Yes, we will." David: "So, we can shoot ourselves in the eye and we won't die? Because that's what immortal means." Ummm... I guess so.

David: "Mom, I have a funny taste in my nose from a tic-tac."
Me: "Did you put a tic-tac in your nose?"
David: "No, I ate it in my mouth when I was lying upside-down."

(Did you know that your nose has taste buds?)
David: "Mom, when will Daddy go to the real war?" Me: "I don't know, sweetheart." David: "Well, when he does, I hope he doesn't get shot right in the chest, because he's the most special person to us." Me: "I hope so, too, David." I suppose I should be grateful that he's preparing himself...

Mother's Day Primary Talk

David volunteered to give the talk in Primary on Mother's Day. We like to let him prepare his own talks. They usually end up being pretty short, but they are sincere and I think we're teaching him to share what he feels is important.

I just found the copy of his talk today and wanted to share it:

"Today is Mother's Day.

I love my mom. She has a baby in her tummy. I named my baby Goldfish. I don't know if it's a brother or a sister, but I'm really excited to be a big brother.

I'm happy that Heavenly Father sent me to Earth to have a family. Families help us live and grow. They love us and teach us about Heavenly Father and Jesus. I'm thankful that my family gets to go to church together. I'm thankful that Heavenly Father gave me my family because I know that they love me very much and I love them, too.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

My boy is so cool.

Brian and David got haircuts last night. David was a little nervous because we went to a new place. Being the inexperienced and naive mother that I am, I told him that *he* could tell the guy how to cut his hair. I was thinking he might say "short like Dad's" or "not so short on the top"... both of which he's said before. However, I am a woman of my word, so when he told the guy he wanted a lightening bolt on the top of his head, I kept my word and decided to help the guy make it as "acceptable" as possible...

Sigh... hair grows back, right?

Today, David and Brian have been cleaning out the Jeep, getting it ready to sell. David discovered quite a treasure during the process, and came running inside to ask me a question:

David: "Mom, can I have a cookie?"

Me: "Why don't you wait until you and Dad are all finished outside so you can wash your hands first?"

David: "But I want to see if I can trade Dad a cookie for this really cool compass so I can keep it!"

It turned out to be a cookie VERY well-spent, because David soon discovered that the arrows on the compass GLOW IN THE DARK!!!

David has been noticing (and - sometimes to my distress - commenting on) the changes my body is making throughout this pregnancy. His latest observation, while trying to snuggle onto my lap:

"Mommy, your nipples are growing bigger. Is that so they can be refrigerators when Goldfish is born?"

Well... technically, yes!
