Updated Mantle

BEFORE
AFTER

I have been starring at my old ugly art above my mantle for over a year. It doesn’t match the new (over a year old) paint and looks terrible. This week I decided I had had enough and updated it. I could not find a good before picture, but this one at least shows the ugly art work. Since I have a limited budget, actually NO budget, I took apart the old art and Wade painted the frame for me. I drew the white leave design on the computer, cut it out on my cricut, and mounted it to 3 pieces of black canson paper. I re-used the old mat board from the original art and spray mounted gray linen like fabric to it. I love how it turned out and the best part was it cost me under $10 to redo.

Mostly everything is made from something I already had! I took the greenery from another vase upstairs and painted my candle sticks, ‘S’, and owl. I added paper to the clock and re-painted it. Wade also spray painted the brass accents on the fireplace. All I had to buy was spray paint, canson paper, and the candles. In all I spent about $30. I am pretty pleased with my cheap mantle make over.

No More Braces!

Today is blessed day, I got my braces off! I can't believe how much of a change there is. It was worth every day of having my cheeks cut up like beef jerky and my teeth hurting. It has been 22 long months and I will be wearing a retainer at night for the rest of my life, but I am so glad I did it.

I feel pretty, so pretty!

I am feeling so pretty this morning. I fractured a bone in my foot playing soccer. I am not sure which one, all I know is it hurts and I am in a boot for 6-8 weeks. I will find out today if I need surgery to put a screw in to repair the bone. I have the x-rays and will post them if I can figure out how to get them off the CD they gave me.

After talking to a witness to my injury, a girl from the other team and I both went for the ball, she kicked the ball and kicked my foot at the same time. All I remember is flying through the air, looking down and seeing my foot turned 90 degrees in towards my other leg. I then landed, but not on my ankle, thank goodness. I am glad Stephanie saw it happen because I was so confused. I knew it had happened before I landed because landing did not hurt at all.

Just for the record, I will probably not stop playing soccer and am already looking forward to getting back on the field. I will do better at strength training so I will be less likely to get hurt. Getting old sucks!
