A year in rewind
Well, I finally did it! I updated this here blog after almost a year. A lot has happened in the past year. Between moving into a new house to having a new baby in the family. I hope you enjoy all of our past years adventures.
Funny Lizzy story
Most of you know that we have a crazy 2 year old. Today while both Ryder and Lizzy were taking a nap Ryder cried out a little cry and Lizzy yelled out to him saying "don't wake me up boy, I'm trying to sleep with my blanky". These are the things that happen on a day to day basis between the getting into the toothpaste and taking off her clothes.
1 month old
I can't believe it. My baby boy is already a month old. He is growing so fast. Look at those cute chubby cheeks.
Swim Lessons
Lizzy has been taking swim lessons for the past year and is now loving it. It took a couple sessions of her screaming at the top of her lungs but now she asks to go all the time and is doing really well. She can float on her back by herself and is starting to pick up on the front stroke. She is so dang cute in her little goggles and swim hat. Kate has been taking for a couple of years now and is getting really good. We are hoping to get her on a swim team this summer because she likes to swim really fast and try to beat her dad when we go to the pool.
Kate's first time skiing
Spence took Kate up to Solitude skiing for the first time this past week. We were both a little worried that she wouldn't like it because she is a little bit of a wuss sometimes, but she loved it. She started out a little timid but by the end she was flying down the runs and laughing her head off. She can't wait to go again and beat her daddy down the run.
Christmas time fun
Christmas this year was a whirlwind with the birth of Ryder at the beginning of the month, a million parties and a lot of fun with our families. We were so blessed to be able to spend so much time together as a family this year with Spence being able to take off paternity leave for two weeks right before Christmas. The kids had so much fun having my parents in town and being able to see and spend time with their cousins. Trying to detox from "always having something to do" has been quite a challenge.
Baby Ryder
On December 9th 2010 we welcomed Ryder Rockwell deBry to our family. He was 7 lbs and 7 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. He even has hair! Which for our family is a big surprise. Funny that the boy gets the hair and our girls just had peach fuzz till they were almost 2. Kate was sooo happy to have a new little brother and just loves and wants to take care of him all the time. Lizard on the other hand at first was a little unsure of this new little crying baby. Now we have a hard time keeping her from "loving him" too much. He is such a sweet little addition to our family and we are so lucky to have our two girls and hopefully a little less drama in our home with little Ryder.
Snow time
Kate loves to go out in the backyard and play in the snow. We have a little hill that she likes to sled down. Chester loves to follow her around in the snow but is still resistant to letting Kate put him on the sled for a ride. Lizzy on the other hand does not like to play in the snow and cried the whole time Kate tried to pull her around on the sled. After it snows she always tells us that she "hates the snow." I don't blame her.
Halloween Time
This year Halloween was a lot of fun. Lizzy just figured out that if you say Trick or Treat you actually get treats. We went on a wild goose chase to find the right pumpkin to three different pumpkin patches and finally found a huge one at the Fresh Market that Kate and Spence had a lot of fun carving. Kate dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Lizzy was a pumpkin.
Washington
Spencer and I were lucky to be able to get away on a little trip to Washington this fall. It was so nice to be able to spend time together and see such a beautiful place. Not sure I could ever live there with so much rain but it sure was fun to visit. I think I would enjoy it more not being pregnant next time so that we could go on a lot more hikes. We did see a sign that said the vampire threat was dangerous in La Push so we I was a little worried about that. Ha Ha. Everywhere we went they were twilight crazy. I guess we missed the convention by a few days. I am so lucky to have such a great husband to go on adventures together.
Lizzy turns the dreaded 2
Since the lizard didn't get a cake last year or a party for that matter because Kate was sick we made sure to at least give her a cake this year. As you can see by the mess on her face she was pretty happy with it. Lizzy got a trike for her birthday which she couldn't quite touch the pedals. Kate was happy to ride her around though which she thought was just as much fun.
