Happy Holidays!?!
How is it already December? My not so baby boy is about to turn two! Life has been a roller-coaster and while riding out the craziness we didn't take too many pictures.
Here's the last 9 months in a nut shell... (promise I'm not making this up): We've had work ups, downs & uncertainties; death - my sweet Grandma Kenaston; car repair - we were literally stopped on the freeway an hour away from home at midnight (and I really had to pee!); home repairs -leaky roof, front deck repair (Troy's foot fell through a weak beam), re-landscape of the yard; home remodel - switched up every room except the Kitchen & Bath; A two week visit from Mimi & Papa... Hooray!; Injury - Troy rolled his ankle (unrelated to the deck incident) and Vaughn's first black eye after an accident at school; Illness - the minor colds and major migraines for Mindy; Mindy back to work full-time at Parkview Elementary; Vaughn started all Day Pre-school (more "play-school" to borrow a Keith & Heatherism); Vaughn speaking in full sentences and amazing us every day! Troy started up a new/ old hobby of fishing and purchased an ancient fishing boat... which had a major gas leak the 2nd time out; A quick weekend trip to Torrey with good friends to celebrate Mindy's 30th b-day; Our dogs are as crazy and lovable as ever; My sister Allison and husband Rob welcomed their first baby boy Angel... which led to quick trip for Vaughn and I down to San Diego to meet the new babe meeting up with Mimi, Papa, the Hammonds, Julie & son Maceo; During 9 years of marriage we have never had so many life altering experiences within one year... we've had many reasons to cry, worry, laugh and smile the last few months... Our love and thanks to those who supported us.
As the roller coaster was seeming to slow we decided a refresh and regroup was needed. We wanted to celebrate Mindy's birthday milestone and our approaching 10 year anniversary. Vaughn turning 2 will mean less travel as he will no longer be free to fly... we felt this was a last chance to go abroad. We spent a fabulous week on the beach in El Salvador, just loving, playing and relaxing with our little family of 3.
I'll do my best to hopefully stay more on top of our blog in the year to come...

Boys and Trains...
A Thanksgiving weekend trip from Uncle Kurt led our usual crew (Heather, Kieth, & Drake, Mindy, Troy, Vaughn and Kurt) up to Heber to see the Trains.

El Salvador
Our stay at La Cocotera Resort in the Barra de Santiago, El Salvador
(Troy took over 800 photos... it was really difficult to narrow down my favorites to post )
Vaughn loved being on vacation... Mom and Dad all day everyday... running around 1/2 nakie... and plenty of "boo" (Vaughnism for a Pacifier). Hey, what else is vacation for than total relaxation???

Playing in the "sandbox"... Vaughn called it the box even though we were surrounded by sand :)
The tide would go out super far creating shallow ocean water with a few small ripple of waves every now and again. Perfect for a little man to splash, look for seashells and cuddle in.
There was a rogue crab in the pool one morning... Vaughn is telling the crab "say cheese" as Troy was taking it's pictures.
As an Eco-friendly resort, La Cocotera participates in a turtle release program. We were able to see a baby turtle freshly hatched... The shell was still super soft.

The "Happy Too!"
The boat was re-named after one of our favorite summer Vaughnisms... it just fit. When we are all out on the water it is so peaceful. We really are all Happy Too!
We only took the boat out a handful of times before the weather changed... we don't have the greatest of photos yet. It's ancient and needs some work, but you get the basic idea from these pics.
