Secret Dating Fast

When I read this FOCUS blog post, it immediately resonated, especially these lines:
I can’t wait for the day when I can actually call Tim as much I want, but until then, I have to rely daily on the Lord to take care of him. When I can’t call to see how his day has been, I have to pray that Jesus is asking him those questions instead of me.
The truth is, I have always scorned the idea of a dating fast.  Maybe not vocally or publicly, but privately I've always thought, "I would never do that."  (Similarly, I think NFP is something for other people which, since I'm not married, is fundamentally true . . . but that's another story.)  Now, as the title of this blog post indicates, I'm actually in something of a "dating fast" situation.  Let it not be said that I embraced this fast willingly, as the virtuous author of the blog I linked to did; no, rather I've gone kicking and screaming to my fate with this one.  She has a point, though: this kind of renunciation, done truly for God's sake and for HIS love primarily, is very fruitful.

On the Other Hand

As a counterpoint to the previous post, from almost a year (!) ago, consider this quote from John Burroughs, as applied to love:
Leap and the net will appear.

The Undeserving

[W]e cannot be too guarded in our behavior towards the undeserving of the other sex. - A&E Pride and Prejudice

Haha, this is just true, even if comes out of fusty Mary's mouth.

You see, it is simply a very young girl's record of her own thoughts and impressions, and consequently meant for publication. -The Importance of Being Earnest
Yeah.  If I could find some way to change everything--the names, the circumstances, the details--and somehow publish it under a pseudonym, my diary could really entertain.  Or horrify.

"Maybe because they're so used to you being single." - My sister
You gotta love sisters--they are the only ones, with the possible exception of moms, who can make comments like that and not be offensive.   :D

ENFJ's tend to be more reserved about exposing themselves than other extraverted types. Although they may have strongly-felt beliefs, they're likely to refrain from expressing them if doing so would interfere with bringing out the best in others. Because their strongest interest lies in being a catalyst of change in other people, they're likely to interact with others on their own level, in a chameleon-like manner, rather than as individuals.
--Portrait of an ENFJ
Last night I had a personality breakthrough.  For a while now, I've thought that I was an ENTJ, but after perusing some of the descriptions for extroverted types, I realized that it's not quite right.  The F and the J might be close, but I'm definitely an ENFJ--and so many things make so much more sense now that I know that!
