Spanish restaurant opening

It was an interesting opening. Free Spanish food and free beer and wine. That sure drew the crowd. LOL

Before the flamenco dancers started, there was dancing to Spanish music on the small dance area. They had a male dancer who pulled ladies from the audience to dance with him and he was awesome. Janice was so surprised that I didn't join him as I usually dance at the drop of a hat but I found the music so much faster than the salsa I'm used to, I chickened out. LOL



But as you can see, I totally enjoyed the flamenco dancers!!!
(By the way, my foot is all healed and hopefully the spider/monster won't find me again.)

Ouch, that hurts

Last week some nasty bug/spider/monster bit me on the foot and I thought I'd share the awesome sight of it with you. LOL I know, I know. It's horrible. I immediately went to the doctors as I'd sure never seen anything that yucky before. I never felt the critter nor did I see him...which is probably just as well. The doc put me on antibiotics and it wasn't too long before it started to calm down. As you can see, at first the entire top of my foot was all puffy with the fluid from the bite. ugh So now it's pretty much healed and although I may have a small scar at that original site, it's cleared up very well. Considering all the weird places I've been, I'm going to consider myself lucky that this is the worst thing that's ever happened...bug-wise. LOL

Miss you all and can hardly wait to see you. September will be here before I know it and I'm really looking foward to at least three and a half months relatively close to everyone (Redding).

A Day at the Market

It seems everything in Ajijic is so colorful and bright. These were taken at the Wednesday market. The blonde is Becky, from St. Louis and visiting my neighbor. She's a great shopper so we've been enjoying each other. LOL

Thoughts and Scenes from Ajijic, Mexico

I’m settling in now…to this other life. Once again a change of seemingly major proportions.

As I sit at my desk…computer, pens, paper before me…I look out to a lush garden area. Burnt orange/yellow walls, shades of green everywhere, flowers yellow, red, pink, purple, lush tall ferns. The yellow wall has hand-painted tall sunflowers decorating one side, a large ceramic sun on the other side. A large two-tiered water-fountain ringed with ceramic pots filled with red, white and yellow flowers, entice birds to flit in and out.

Against the wall where I sit looking out large windows, is my favorite room…a patio screened in from the garden. The room is small but colorful and bright. Yellow walls--purple, reds, blues in the cushions and wall paintings. And best of all, in a slight alcove in the side wall, a three-foot painted rooster, bright red, white, green and yellow feathers, smoking a cigar with one leg up holding a wine glass. My kind of guy!!!

The maid is here today, working in another room, but she has the radio on a local station and Mexican music and news in Spanish reminds me – as if this scene wouldn’t – that I’m no longer in Kansas, Dorothy.

What a great day for Mom, here with little Evelyn. She had such wonderful visit with Melody and her little sweeties.






I thought Mom held up quite well...I expected many more tears. LOL All we had were these wonderful smiles.
