there is a separate invitation for those going to the dinner and those just going to the ice cream social. so let me know if you didn't get one- that means we have the wrong address for you.

if you told me you are not coming at all, i did not send you an invitation so let me know if your plans change.

to those just attending the ice cream social (not the dinner):

instead of making a donation (we only had 1) we are having to charge $2 per individual to make ends meet. we just didn't have enough money. so please RSVP and pay melanee by july 15th so we can plan for the appropriate amount of people. all of the information will be on your invitation coming in the mail.

other than that, i am very excited! it should be a great reunion. let me know if you have any questions.

Another message from Hilary

- New deadline: July 1 (that first week of July will be my last week here in Texas before we head to Utah so it will be the last real opportunity to work on the video. I really want more pictures!)

- Please don't shrink or resize pictures when you email them. A lot of times programs automatically shrink pictures so you can email more at once, but some of the pics are too low of resolution to look good in the video. It goes the same for pics on facebook. Facebook automatically resizes pictures so it doesn't work for me to pull pictures directly from facebook, because they won't look good in the video.

- If you don't have old high school pics please at least send a current picture! Most everyone has current family pics etc. on their facebook so they should have them on there computer somewhere digitally. Email them! Again, I don't want to pull them off of facebook (A: without permission) because the resolution won't be good.

- Please send more pictures! Even just one or two from high school, a club or group, graduation....anything! Anything would be great.

We need more pictures!
Hilary is spending a lot of time on this project and she needs more pictures to make this slideshow worth watching. We don't just want one group of people so everyone send a couple of pictures. She has extended the deadline to JUNE 15th and then she is leaving town so get some pictures to her in the next few days! Please!

Sidenote- if you do not have a scanner, simply get your camera out and take a picture of your picture (make sure there is plenty of lighting) and then upload them onto your computer.

May 1st

It's May 1st people! Get your check in the mail today (tomorrow is okay) if you want to come to the dinner. We have been very pleased with the response so far... come see all of your classmates!
If you are not able to make a commitment but really want to come, email me and let me know what is going on.

After we know who is coming to what, we will send out separate invites for the dinner and the ice cream social. Since this blog is public, pertinent information will be on the invitations and not on the blog.
If you have told me you will not be able to come, you will not receive an invite, so let me know if anything changes with your plans.

Jason and his lovely family are planning on hiking Table Rock the week of the reunion (probably Thursday, July 30th) and wanted to invite the rest of us.
And since we are all exercising diligently so we look great for the reunion *joke* then we should be in shape enough to do it.
The hike is about 5 miles to the summit and can be pretty intense. Little kids should definitely be brought up in a pack.
If interested, email Jason {jasonteeples@gmail.com} and let him know.
He will take care of all the logistics of the hike- all you have to do is show up.

If you are interested but worried that it might be too much, let him know, he's open to suggestions.

basically there are none, other than sending a check in the mail.
People have been wondering if they can pay online, and unfortunately, we are not computer savvy enough for that option.
If you are concerned about sending money through the mailing system, send your check and email Melanee {smelanee@hotmail.com} the same day and then she will get back to you when she receives payment. Then if something happens, you can cancel your check.

slide show update

Thank you for to those who have participated in the slide show thus far. The pictures have been exactly what we've been looking for. But for the sake of it being a surprise, will you please send your pictures directly to Hilary {hilarywhitesides@gmail.com} from now on instead of posting them on facebook (our mistake.) That way the slide show will be more exciting with never-before-seen pictures. Thanks!

next reunion???

Todd Furness (our class president) has informed me that he will not be able to plan our 15 year class reunion because he will be neck deep in a residency program.
He asked me to ask for volunteers at the reunion, but I didn't feel comfortable with trying to pin someone down for such a big responsibility. However, I do feel fine about asking for volunteers via the reunion blog.

So, if you are interested in taking on the challenge of planning our next reunion, get in touch with Todd. You can get all of his information on facebook.

With that said, you might want to rethink attending this reunion if you have decided not to. Who knows when we will have another one...

Alright Class of 99 our reunion is but a few months away and from the sounds of it we're all pretty excited. I thought it would be fun to kind of do a slideshow of days gone by. Please email me your pictures at hilarywhitesides@gmail.com. We want everything from grade school on up and we want pictures of EVERYONE! We'll watch the video at the dinner. Summer promises to be busy so the deadline for pics is going to be June 1st for the time being. Send them my way and we'll get the fun started! Also if you have an opinion as to what a great "high school" song that should be played during the video send me your vote as well.

Hilary Ingoldsby Whitesides

Hilary also asked me to tell you to include current pictures of you and your families, especially if you won't be able to make it. We really want to see everyone, even if it can only be through a photo.

I'm not really sure where to begin or what to write.

I was very saddened to hear the news that Brock had passed away early Thursday morning. He was my neighbor growing up and we spent many a summer evening playing together.

I am not aware of specifics other than he suffered from muscular dystrophy.

another clarification...

We really want everybody to attend both the ice cream party AND the dinner. We said previously that if you weren't going to attend the dinner, a donation would be appreciated for the ice cream party. However, if there is a substantial number of people who want to attend only the ice cream party, then we are going to have to require a small amount to be fair.

At this point, we are hoping that everyone will come to both (hence one payment of $27.) So please come, we haven't seen each other in 10 years! Remember the May 1st deadline! We will send out the final invitation after we receive the money, depending on if you are planning on coming to the dinner or not.

Also, please don't feel awkward if you have to come alone to the dinner. Many people are single or have informed me that their significant other won't be able to attend. I might be in the same situation and just look at it as a way to save $27. ;)

And to get you more enthused, let me leave you with a picture of us. How could you not want to come?

price breakdown

Some questions have been arising as to why the cost of the reunion is $27 per person.

So this post is the clarify...

Though the sloppy joes (hamburgers?) were great at our 5 year, we thought it would be nice to have an actual "sit down/dress up" night for our 10 year gathering.   

We initially wanted to have our dinner at the college, but unfortunately it is completely booked for EFY groups and so we are looking elsewhere (still being researched) and will get catering = $18 per person. 

The rest of the money is going towards:

• rental of location
  
• invitations 
  
• postage
  
• ice cream for park social
  
• park reservation (who knew the park cost $100 to reserve?)
  
• decorations
  
• attendants for the catering
  
• transportation for the catering
  
• clean-up
  
• equipment rental
  
• potential babysitting
• etc. etc. etc.

It's amazing how it adds up.

Kelly Checketts has brought to my attention that some babysitting might be needed the night of our dinner. If you no longer have family in the area and don't have a place for your kids during the adult dinner, please let me know so we can set up some sort of babysitting option.

I don't want you to miss out because you don't have someone to watch your children.
