Happy 2007!
Things are finally starting to settle down here. We were spoiled by having my all my family together for a few weeks. It was fun to stay up talking, laughing and playing games, but I think we are all tired and are or were sick from all the partying. We have to take advantage of the times we are together though.
Some of the highlights (from my viewpoint):
Watching Andrew play musical "pillows" at his birthday party with all his cousins. He didn't really understand the rules except that you scream and run around when the music starts and sit down when the music stops. He loves playing with "the kids" as he calls them. Drew's party was a pajama party because every time I asked him what he wanted to have at his party he would say pancakes and strawberries. I wasn't even sure he liked pancakes, but that is what he got. He also really likes wearing his "basketball jams." It is difficult to get him to wear anything else so I figured we might as well let him be comfortable at his own party. It was fun (and crazy) to have everyone together. We had loads of help cooking up the food (courtesy of my Eagle scout brothers and brothers-in-law - they say cooking breakfast is one of the requirements) and everyone was good sports to come dressed in their pjs. Unfortunately, Jeff and I forgot to take pictures! Although I think some other people got a few...send them to us if you did :)
Another highlight was Christmas morning when Drew got a train set. Jeff and my brothers had set is up the night before so he walked in and was excited to we his train. Now when we watch the videos he wants to go play with it...which is a problem because we took it down...looks like we need to find a permanent place for the train.
I also loved watching Drew run around with his Mabey cousins at the Bean Museum in Provo...a museum full of stuffed animals (not the soft cuddly ones though). He kept saying, "how neat! Oh, wow....Look at the that!!" It was fun to hear his enthusiasm...too bad I can't post videos.
One highlight for me was finishing the semester! Hurray only one more to go and fortunately I am done commuting; I can take the rest of my classes online. Although that means I have to discipline myself enough to do the work. As one girl in my class last semester told me...Cs get degrees :)
Another highlight was watching Hillary and Amanda my two pregnant friends take a ride down the pool slide! They were also the only two of all the girls who did it. I took some time off to have girl's night with my friends. We had dinner, exchanged presents and went swimming up at the Pitt home. It is always fun to hang out with just the girls and forget for a minute that we are all moms having to worry about things like health care and where our husbands get accepted to school and remember we are all going through the same things and are going to survive it just like we have everything else. Although the majority of all conversation focused on kids, husbands, and our plans for the future.
Okay, there are way too many fun things we did that would qualify as highlights so I am cutting it of there :)
While I wish I could say celebrating my 5-year Anniversary to the man of my dreams :) was another highlight; our plans were canceled due to Drew being sick...so while we didn't get the romantic re-treat we had planned, I was still able to remember why I married Jeff and how much he means to me (he stayed home from work and helped me take care of Drew)
Drew's actual birthday (the 6th) was a little bit of a disappointment too. He contracted pink eye so we could go to the Children's Museum and Build-A-Bear as planned. Instead we drove to the zoo only to discover it had closed a few minutes before (although the grounds were still open). Drew was disappointed about not seeing the animals so we went to the UofU Natural History Museum instead...a little over his head, but it worked. I guess you win some and lose some.
Last month has been super busy and super fun. We miss all the family and hope that everyone is doing good!
