Mardi Gras 2012.

Once again, I found a very expensive king cake at The Store this year. I had all kinds of plans to cook shrimp and grits this year, but was having no luck on finding grits that were not "quick" cooking type. Whats up with that, Utah? So, I ditched that and we went to blue lemon to eat instead. It was good, but it didn't fulfill the cajun food needs I had intended for that night. Everyone picked a color that they wanted to go for and ate (well, we tear it apart. We like the bread part, not too much cheese, not really any jelly.) and Drew was supposed to get the baby, but was too scared to find it in his piece for some reason. So I gave it to Austin and he will be the winner this year. And don't worry, that is only jelly on the baby on the last picture, but doesn't it look authentic?

Indoor Soccer.

It's been awhile since Austin has done something that was "just him". Drew has karate every week, swimming has been kind of a flop and winter doesn't present itself with many sports opportunities. Austin has been excited for awhile for indoor to start and man, does he love it! He runs after the ball wherever it goes and kicks it into the goal. He loves it. Drew doesn't like soccer, so this is "his" sport. And I think he is eating that up. He has a really good coach (it has been more of a "miss" than a "hit" with coaches lately) and he is on the team full of tall kids that smear the other teams...yeah, sounds bad to brag about that, but we have had our fair share of wimpy teams and we can revel in this for now. In the nicest way, of course.

Halloween 2011.

Halloween was exhausting this year. It is every year, but this year I can remember, so yes, it was. Drew had his parade and party at school. Austin had his party at school. Trunk or treat in the evening. Dinner, somewhere in between that and actual trick or treating later that night. It was fun, but boy, it was a non stop day!

Halloween is never complete without the pumpkin carving parties! Last Sunday, we went over to the Richter's to carve them out and have chili. Hopefully the kids enjoyed it because it sure was a lot of work for us adults. You know, the kids participate in it for a short while and the adults are left doing the tedious work, which to be honest, I dread every year. Being artsy on a squash is not my cup of tea. Brian always amazes us with his talents and this year was no exception with Drew's Iron Man. I helped with Austin's and there was a reason that there were no pictures taken of it, because I'm not even sure what it turned out to be. It was fun and that is all that counts, right?

Wheeler Farm Take Two.

Wheeler Farm again? Why yes maam! We love this place. Drew didn't come on the last trip, so it was fun to go again. And anything with the Richter's is super fun. I like the fact that there is just enough to do, you can knock it out in two hours and we are so close to home. Plus, it is cheap. It doesn't get any better than that.

A Halloween Program.

Austin's preschool class put on the cutest program yesterday. They learned halloween songs and some fall songs. He did such a great job singing and always chose some key words of each song to belt out loud. It was fun to see him sing since he doesn't say his "r" letters correctly so he had his own spin to some of the words. He and Kat are two peas in a pod and are very funny together and this time was no exception. I love these programs especially to look back on them as they get older. I remember when Drew did his and it seems like so long ago. Time really does fly. I just need it to slow down just a tad. I tried to upload the videos, but blogger is giving me gruff, so no go on those. Maybe in a future post.

Halloween Preview.

We went to Steph's ward Halloween Party this last week and I saw it as a dry run for the boys costumes.Neither one is super hard, but I bought some black and white hair spray to put in their hair. Austin didn't mind it at all and looked very cute as the black batman. Drew on the other hand, had a cow therefore not having great looking hair. At the party, I hardly recognized Austin at all and at one point saw him and thought "Oh, that little boy has the same costume as Austin." Im such an idiot. The boys had a great time with their cousins and got their first taste of all of the Halloween celebration and of course, tons of candy. I did not get many pictures from the actual party, just of the bean bag toss, I guess. But, of course I made them pose in the front yard with their costumes and I actually got some decent pictures.

Wheeler Farm Take One.

During the fall, we have to visit Wheeler farm. It is such a fun place and just the right amount of activities for the little ones. While Drew was in school (mean, I know.) Aussie and I went with some friends down to the farm to enjoy a very warm day and pick us some punkins.
