John Austin

Is there any day really like the day of the birth of a child? On January 7, 2015, we welcomed to our humble little world our third son, John Austin Smith. Easy natured from the moment he was born, he is settling in quite nicely to the chaos that comes naturally with older brothers.

Ten perfect fingers and ten tiny toes. Seven pounds 13 ounces of pure sugar. 21 inches of awesome.

Our Thankful Tree

We decided to bring back the thankful tree this Thanksgiving. Here are a few of the things we were thankful for this year!

Little Silly Spark

Meet Little Silly Spark! In my biased opinion, he was just the cutest little Indian in his 3K class! I also found his name to be rather appropriate!

Turkey Trot and Gobbler Dash '14

Jonathan and Banks ran in the annual Turkey Trot and Gobbler Dash for Thanksgiving! This was Banks's first race, and I was a little nervous when I realized it was going to be a full mile. Thankfully, Uncles Chris and Brett went to his rescue and ran the last half with him! They got him through and it was so heartwarming to watch! 

After Banks's race, we made it back to Jonathan's race just in time for Banks to hop in and run the last 100 yards with him. Just so precious. It was a proud day for this mommy for sure!

God calls Samuel

So I know that these big ears are supposed to help Samuel hear God calling him, but think they can help Eli hear me calling him too?

Joshua and the Battle of Jericho

Eli and I read about the battle of Jericho the other night. After we read the story, the following conversation commenced:

Me: Eli, God is telling us that it is important that we listen and obey him. God says we should obey our parents too. This makes him happy. Do you understand?
Eli: Yeah. I understand.
Me: When we obey God, there are often rewards. God rewarded Joshua. We reward you too when you listen and obey. Did you know that God rewarded Joshua?
Eli: YEAH! With a sticker or somefin'!
Me: Um, exactly...
