Thumper's Mama had some very good words of wisdom in the movie Bambi. "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Well, this explains a lot about why I haven't posted anything in the past year.
I know it is important though that I record the things that have happened for the future, so I am doing an abbreviated version to get myself all caught up so I can start blogging more on a regular basis.
Well, we missed a whole school year. I passed Anatomy, not with flying colors, but I passed. Savannah had her 9th birthday. She had some friends over and they had a blast. I didn't have the camera(I know that's so shocking for me) so their aren't any pictures. :( I had a birthday, (completely uneventful so really not worth mentioning more than that.)
All of these things really aren't bad, but while they were happening I kind of was in a really dark place. Kelly and I decided last Fall to get a divorce. We have not been getting along for a very long time. I thought it would be best to wait until Christmas break for the separation so it wouldn't interfere with mine or my kids' school. Let's just say that those few months were very tense. We all knew what was coming, so everyone was just going through the motions until the kids and I moved out in December.
We moved in with my parents right before Christmas. I look back now and realize that it might have been easier to interfere with school than with the holidays, but what's done is done. We are now in New Harmony we truly love it here. We will be here until the divorce proceedings are finalized, then we will move back to St. George until I finish school. I really don't know how long we will be here, everything is moving very slowly, but I really appreciate the fact that I have someplace to call home.
Enough with all the gloomy stuff, back to the year in review.
Liv has her 4th birthday in January. She is getting so big. We didn't do much for her birthday because we were still getting settled in here, but we did do a little cake and ice cream with the family so she wouldn't feel left out.
Things just kind of flew by after that. We finished out the school year. (I figured out that online classes are NOT for me.) Gavin had his birthday in June and turned 11! (I am not really old enough to have a kid that old. It must be a typo.) He had a friend come over and his cousins came and they just played a bunch of outside games. Boys are so easy. Just make sure they are fed and have some things to do outside and they really entertain themselves.
It was really starting like life was getting back to normal and I was really enjoying my life for the most part until the end of July. We hit a HUGE road block. My Dad was home for the day at the end of the month just to show a piece of property. He went out about 1:00 and they were on the 4-wheelers on the property since there were no roads. He was supposed to be home not too late because he was planning on leaving around 6:00with my Mom to go back to Salt Lake for a little bit of time together. Well 6 came and went and he still wasn't home. My Mom called the lady he was with and she said she left him a little before 4 and that he was heading home on the 4-wheeler. When we found this out we called 911. The people in the area started a search party, but it was really dark. Search and rescue came out and they found him about 12:30 or so. He had been trying to get home and ended rolling the 4-wheeler over on top of himself. He was killed instantly.
I still can't imagine going through the rest of my life without him, but I know we can make it somehow. He is an awesome person and I hope that I can learn to be more like him.
I really am sorry for the kind of down mood of this post. I just know I have to get it all out somehow. Hopefully my future posts will be better. (I am planning on writing more posts I promise.) I am looking forward to this next year in hopes that it is much better than the last one.
