It's time for baseball!!

Football 2014

Josh and Caleb are playing football this fall.  They are enjoying learning a new sport and making new friends.  Saturday was their Kickoff Classic.  Josh is number 5  and is playing for Rosedale Rush. Caleb is number 14 and playing for the Cyclones.

Rerun/Redone/Remake

When Josh was in 3rd grade he did an oral report on Thomas Edison.  The 3rd graders put on a performance every year entitled "Greatest Americans of the 20th Century". Thomas Edison has a humorous bit in the play (even though he did most of his inventing in the 1800's thus disqualifying him from becoming one of the greatest Americans of the 20th century).  Josh was absent the day parts were handed out, but ended up with Thomas Edison because of the report he had just done. 
This year Caleb is in 3rd grade.  When oral report time came around Caleb picked a book about..... Thomas Edison. (Yes, he wrote and delivered an entirely different report).  Fast forward a month or so and guess who got the part of Thomas Edison in the play?  I of course had to put their pictures up together.

Even though I could say most of the parts and sing all of the songs it is still fun to watch different kids "owning" their parts every year.  And the song about Rosa Parks gets me.  Every. Single. Time they sing it.

Ryan's pins

Ryan had surgery today. The surgeon thought he may need to put a metal plate and screws in to stabilize the bone but got pins placed well and didn't have to cut into him. I took pictures of the X-rays. 

This is what his arm looked like to begin with. The top of the bone isn't supposed to look like that. 

So they shifted it back and then pinned it in place. 

This is just a side view, it looks like the pins go into his hand but they don't. That's just the angle, they cut the excess off before they resplinted it. 

Recovering. We're home now and he is doing good. 

Realizations

I had a sudden realization this morning. I am probably going to have a serious mental break down soon. Keeping in mind how flexible, adaptable, and open to change I am... In the next few months 1. Zachary will be leaving for 2 years. Two years=24 months=104 weeks=728 days. Enough said. Trying to be positive. 2. Angela will be married and moved away from me. She is my Lala. I really don't know if I can handle being far away from her. 3. Cassie, Mike, the girls and Diane will also be moving. Too much. Everyone needs to stay put. Or at least promise that when Danny has me committed to the looney bin they will come visit. I'm going to go ahead and cry now. 

Hairy Scary

During hunting season things get a little hairy around here.  Just because Danny quits shaving. Not because he takes weeks and weeks off work and throws my routine and schedule off (you laugh at my use of the words routine and schedule, I know).  Really I should say Danny tries to quit shaving, but a court date will inevitably crop up, and then he has to start over.  So the beard never gets as long as it could, which is really okay by me. This year was a slow transition back to "cop face" and we took pictures, just because.

Trunk or Treat

This year we had a vampire, a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and Snow White (I had to borrow a girl for the evening so I could dress her up as a princess) go to the annual trunk or treat at church.  They had fun, and came home with lots of candy.
