{need of assistance}

When I first started this blog I decided not to have the comments at the time. Later I decided that I wanted them and when I went back to change it, there was no way to make it show comments. I seriously have tried everything I can think of. I think there is something wrong with my html setup. Do any of you know how to fix it?????? I really want to have my comments back. If not then I will most likely start a new blog.

{celebrating with my bosom friends}

Throwing a little Anne of Green Gables at ya. Last Saturday we got together with our bosom friends to celebrate my birthday. It was a blast!!! I wanted to have brownie sundaes instead of the old cake and ice cream thing. Tiff made some amazing brownies!!!

If you look closely at the candles, you will notice that they aren't even candles at all. Kels, didn't have any so we used matches. It was hilarious because they were burning so fast that they had to sing the birthday song super fast so I could hurry and blow them out before they got to the brownies.

The boys acting ever so happy to be there. Doesn't Dave look like he's 16. Such youthful looking husbands we have!

And of course the boys did their own thing while we girls laughed about almost everything. We joked about our husbands, did old cheerleading moves, watched the thong song music video and laughed so hard it hurt. The night was so much fun and always is with my bosom friends. Thanks for the party.

{basketball}

On Saturday night, before we went to hang out with our friends, the boys wanted to play some basketball. So we lowered the hoop so that Lukie could participate and got all of our balls out.
Luke was loving it and Nolan thought it was fun to watch Lukie and yell for him to "shoot it in da hoop."
This was endless entertainment for over an hour. It was fun to see Nolan teaching Luke how to shoot the ball.
Surprisingly Luke was pretty good at it. He could make most of the shots.
Nolan was even trying to be creative with the type of shots. He would get up on the sofa and jump down and shoot it. He would try to kick it in the basket. Such a geek.
The boys were in heaven playing around. I love to see them so happy.

After awhile Nolan started doing a little soccer as well. He would kick it at my sofa table as hard as he could. He even tried standing on the ball. That was funny to watch him tumble and him just laughing thinking he was so cool. Such a creative little boy and so much fun to have around. This is a busy but such a fun age. I can't wait to see what it will be like this next year. Luke is already following Nolan around and tries to do whatever he does.
Sometime in the near future, I can't wait to go to our kids soccer and basketball games. Lets hope they can get a little height from my side so that they have a chance at basketball.

{glasses anyone?}

Ever since I could remember I've wanted to have glasses. My sister had them and I thought they were so cute. In high school I always wanted to get them because I thought they looked cute with certain outfits. So I was out shopping trying to find some pants that will fit Luke around the waste and still be long enough, when I came across these beauties. Glasses! I was so excited because it took me back. I couldn't leave without them. So, of course, I didn't. When I came home Jake just laughed and wasn't surprised at all. I'm always talking about how I think glasses are so sexy, especially on boys. I've really been trying to get Jake to get some, he really does need them. Anyway, I've decided this is my mid-life, mid-life crisis. I'm totally in love with them and think they are a cute accessory to many outfits. And, I'm feeling smarter already, ha ha! So the question is.... do I really need glasses? No. Do I care? No, not really. I just think it is something fun to do to spice up my life.

{8 months later}

About 8 months ago we were out for a Sunday walk and came across this dresser sitting out in someones front yard. Now in Wisconsin that means it is free game. So we hurried back home and Jake went back to claim our prize. I was so excited about this because Jake always finds so many good things. Whether it be in the dumpster int he back ally or in someones front yard.

So this dresser literally sat in our basement for 8 months before we finally finished it. I did all the sanding and the first coat of spray paint and Jake finished with the rest. I did, however, pick out the hardware. Funny thing about this was our friend told us it would only take about 4 cans of spray paint. Interesting....because it took 12 cans!!!! Now, I don't know if that's because my dear sweet husband, who is a perfectionist, did the rest or we are just stupid and don't know how to spray paint. Either way it is finished and looks fabulous!!!

This is our third garbage find since we've been here.
Since we already had one dresser and one bedside table we decided we should paint those as well to match. I'm really starting to think our room is coming together. Well, it will when we move in to a place that I can actually paint the walls. We still have the big dresser left and we probably won't get that done until it gets warmer so we can do it outside. But I love the finished product. It really is such a cute dresser! Jake did a fabulous job on it! Thanks honey!

On my Birthday, last Tuesday, I had a pretty typical day. Jake did manage to get home around 4 that day, which is a very nice thing when he does, so he let me go run my errands and be by myself. So I went and walked around target for over an hour just to see if there was anything that caught my fancy. After that whole hour, there was absolutely nothing that I wanted. That never happens when I go to target. I guess that's what you get when you really want to buy something for no reason.
After I did my meandering, I headed off to mutual. It was good to be with the youth. They always make me happy and are so fun to be around. When I got there I turn and see my 1st counselor, Jessica wearing almost the exact same thing as me. Great minds think alike. Because of our awesomeness we took a picture.
After mutual I went back home and Jake put a candle in the cupcakes that I made and wanted to sing the happy birthday song. I don't know why but I still don't like the idea of me getting closer to 30. So I gave a little frown to show my sadness of my age. Even though, I know I'm not really old. All-in-all my day was good. I was lucky to have my boys with me and they were so good to me that day and that is all I can ask for. Here's to a better year!

Jake was home one Saturday so we took full advantage of it. This January has been a very mild one. So we got the boys in their gear and headed outside to play in it.


It was very interesting to see the difference in Nolan and Luke. When we got outside Luke immediately wanted to be put in the snow and loved it, as you can see from the pictures. Nolan, however, was very slow to liking it. He reminds me of a kid that dips his toe into the water and gradually gets in the pool. Luke is more the type to just jump in.
Jake started to pack up the snow to try to build a snowman. But the snow was not packable and really it would have taken us longer than the boys would be able to stay outside. Even though it is not as cold as it's been, it still is cold.
So we bagged the snowman. Mainly because Luke tried crawling in the snow because he couldn't get up to stand and walk and even if he could he would just tumble because we put him in his big snow boots. We headed out to the back of our apartment and found a small hill perfect for Luke to go down and a good starter for Nolan to warm up to it.
Nolan was first to go and had the biggest grin on his face. I was at the top pushing the boys while Jake was at the bottom catching them.
Surprisingly Nolan wanted to keep doing it for awhile. And not so surprisingly, Luke just loved it! He was so excited.




The boys went about a dozen times each and then Nolan started to get sidetracked. He kept asking us to play inside the car. At this point we had been outside for awhile and it was starting to get cold. So we headed back inside so that we could all enjoy some hot chocolate made by my favorite friend the "coco motion". Love this gadget and so does Nolan, mostly because it goes around in a circle. Is this circle obsession ever going to end? We are going on three years now.
Anyway, we had a great time being together as a family and having Jake around. These kind of moments I just love because I see how happy my boys are and it makes me happy. I can't wait till they are a little bit bigger and then we can go to the big hills. I loved tubing as a kid and think Nolan and Luke will too.

{bath time, a donut, and some pudding}

You might wonder why I put such a bizarre title? It was Sunday night, the beginning of my birthday week, and Jake was bathing the boys. He really took it seriously how skinny Luke was and decided to try to fatten him up. Note, Luke had already just eaten dinner so he was probably full. So Jake took a donut with chocolate frosting and sprinkles and some oreo pudding in to the bathroom with him to feed the boys. Seems like fun right? You would think so. Just moments after Jake started feeding them Luke puked up the whole thing. All the puke went in the tub. It was the grossest thing I have ever seen. The whole tub was full of it. So nasty!!! Me, being the smart person I am said adios to Jake and headed over to my friends house and let Jake clean up the mess. Poor Nolan had to swim in Lukie's vomit. Sweet move Jake. Note to self, never feed children while in the tub. No kidding! And he says he's going to be a doctor......(I love to throw that out there, just because it bugs Jake)

{laundry basket}

My boys are so creative when it comes to finding things to play with. I seem to always find them doing something silly. Like the other day I was cleaning and heard lots of giggling coming from my bedroom. I peek in to see Nolan inside my laundry basket laughing and Luke trying to climb inside with him. These boys are so funny to me. I love watching them have a good time.

The best part about this was Nolan admiring himself in the mirror we have on our wall. He loves to check himself out. I wonder where he gets that from? Most likely his daddy.

{so skinny}

I went to the doctor the other day for Lukie's one year check up. Yes, I know I'm a month behind. The doctor did all the usual stuff, blah, blah, blah.
Lukie is the skinniest little guy. Here are his stats...

*weight 18 lbs 11 oz*
*height 31 inch*



What this means is that we have a very tall skinny boy. He is 75% for height and 3% for weight. I asked the doctor what I could do to fatten up him because he went significantly down in weight since his last appointment. She said that it was because he was sick for so long and not to worry about it. Just keep feeding him as much as possible. It is going to take a lot of food to do that and a child that will actually eat. I don't know what it is with my kids but they would rather play than eat any day. I have to force feed my children all the time. I saw a baby in our ward yesterday, who is a chunk, that downed 8 oz of formula in just a minute. Lukie would never drink more than 3 or 4 oz of formula ever! Seriously, my boys have no hope.
Lukie is doing wonderful though. He is the happiest kid ever! Church is a breeze with him, other than he won't sit down and has to be doing something all the time. At least he is happy for missing a nap. He has the most contagious smile and laugh. He loves to tackle me when I do my workouts in the morning and he loves, loves, loves his brother. Lukie, you are so much fun!

{you little snitch}

I was getting ready one morning in the bathroom when Lukie peeked his head in with a big smile on his face and a huge cookie in his hand. I'm guessing Nolan got down the cookie and he put it on the sofa when he was done with it and then Lukie got ahold of it.
Lukie ran away with delight. So I quickly grabbed the camera and snapped a picture of our little snitch. Can you tell how excited he is and how he knows he should have this cookie?

Just a little fyi. Lukie still has his gag reflex and after he ate most of the cookie, he threw the entire thing up and then some. Very disgusting to clean up!
