1 Month Old

We can hardly believe it! Evan is 1 month old today! Time is already flying by quickly. We feel so blessed that Evan is doing so great! He is a perfectly normal 1 month old little boy! We know are prayers have been answered.

2 Weeks Old!

I cannot believe that Evan is 2 weeks old today. When I have more time and faster internet I will upload some photos. I was thrilled to get to see Evan although I waited to hold him b/c I didn't want to give him any of my germs from the airplane. He is just precious and looks great! Thanks for the continued prayers!

Thank You

John and I have been overwhelmed  by the support everyone has given us since our
precious son was brought into this world.  Your kind words and prayers have
gotten us through the hardest 7 days of our lives.  As most of you know, we
brought  Evan home this weekend and he is getting stronger each day.  The Doctor
said that Evan's turn around was miraculous but we know that it was Gods will
and we are forever thankful.

We want to give a special thanks to "Aunt Becca" for creating this blog for us.
Evan is so lucky to have an aunt that was so willing to make him a top priority
even though she was living in a foreign country 1000s of miles away.

What A Difference A Day Makes!

I got a call from John a little while ago. The x-rays came back. His lungs are still not perfect, but the doctors feel the infection is gone. So, they sent Evan HOME! Yes, you read that right. Evan is at home. His first week of life sure has not been dull. I of course can't wait to get home and see my nephew! However, John and Amy said that might have to wait just a little while. Evan is at home, BUT he cannot have visitors yet. His immune system is still weak. The doctors said it is very important to keep him at home and away from lots of people until he can build up more strength. I am so happy that he is at home and know John and Amy are happy to have their completed family together in their home.

John and Amy said that they will be sending me a note to post here for all of you. Also, just because Evan is at home does not mean I will quit the blog. When I get home and get to have a visit I will take some photos to post, and I will continue to keep you updated while he is at home and his little immune system is exactly the way it should be!

Happy 1 Week Old Evan!

Evan had a great night last night. The doctor's are thinking he is going to make a full recovery. They are now discussing when they will discharge him. Still no word on today's x-ray. However, we are all hopeful that Evan will be home in the days to come. The doctor's did say that whenever he is released that he will need to stay at home and not have many visitors b/c his immune system still needs time to recover. I'll keep you all posted on all of this!!

Another Thursday Update - Spinal Tap

The doctors were finally able to do the spinal tap. Evan has been on antibiotics for 6 days. The results came back and there doesn't seem to be any type of infection. Thanks be to God!
His x-ray showed that his lungs were still hazy, but they will take another x-ray tomorrow. The doctor said 87 - 95% (could be wrong about the numbers) of the full term babies that end up in the NICU leave without the doctors ever knowing the real cause of the infection. The reason is because they immediately begin aggressive treatment on these babies, and by the time they are able to run tests the baby is better. We will continue to pray that his x-rays tomorrow show perfect clear lungs! God is good!

Thursday's Update!

Hi! It is a great day for the little guy! John just called. Evan has been moved to a different room that is a step down from the NICU. Amy was able to feed him a bottle, and yesterday John got to hold him. They took him off the oxygen an hour ago, and he is breathing regular air. They are going to monitor this closely and see how he does. The spinal tap is getting ready to happen. John said he would let me know when he knows anything else.

We just can't say it enough! Thank for the prayers. John said, "God is awesome, and I can't believe there have been over 500 hits on the blog! Amazing!"
