canonical projection

Given a group $G$ and a normal subgroup $N⊲G$ there is an epimorphism

$$\pi :G\to G/N$$

defined by sending an element $g\in G$ to its coset $gN$. The epimorphism $\pi$ is referred to as the canonical projection.
