Life After Bishop?

     As of January 13. 2013, Hans became a retired Bishop.  I never thought this day would come.  Survival mode has been the norm for so long, what do we do?  Now there are no more unit leaders called by Luis Hassell.  Counselors were Brent Elwood, Brad Rand, Bill Meier and Chris Kilgour.   He's on the High Council now--don't know the specifics of that yet.  Gary Frost is his successor with counselors being Glen Hymas and Shawn Thomas.  Hans has mixed feelings about the whole thing.  The rest of us are extatic.  So, yesterday we were all home from church an hour after the last meeting and snacked our heads off, on chips/salsa, nachos, popcorn and other junk food.  Then, mom slaved away on what was supposed to be a nice dinner---which turned into an uncooked blah dinner.  The potatoes were hard carrots not cooked, and the meat tough.  Actually, the rolls and the peach cider were rockin'.  Dad and Caroline played duets on the clarinets, we played guitar and ukelele and sang and played games.  Soren played "Goodnight Ladies" on the Uke, while ice cream sat happy in our tummies.  It was the best Sunday I can remember!

Hoops, Beef and Buckets

Today was a day to celebrate.  Sam wanted me to take him to Dunkin Doughnuts on the way home from school.  He is a good salesman and I almost gave in, but I promised him a cookie instead.  We have some tasteless cookie dough (storebought) that I got for our Conference junk food weekend, but never used.  Long story short Sam went to bed with a headache and never got to celebrate.  Celebrate what? you may ask...one year ago Sam's tried out for the school basketball team, made the first cuts and was later cut.  He practiced with the team and went to all the games as a manager keeping the book.  This year he confidently tried out again.  The night before the final list was posted, his confidence was a little dimmed.  Yes, he was more experienced than all the 5th graders (lost in the one-on-one with Trevor Pearson, a 5th grader) With only 12 5/6 graders trying out he thought he would make it for sure. The clencher was when they had a try-out with the 7/8 graders.  Anyway that is all history, this year he gets a Holbrook jersey, and gets to PLAY!!

We now have 1/4 of a cow in our new freezer!  Hans and I both have known that it is time for us to "Beef up" our food storage, so this is stage one.  Stage 2 is a big order from Augason Farms.  This place has food in pails and in #10 cans for long term storage.  They also deliver to your house for free (after a 150 dollar order).  So excited to have better supplies---especially after the sad, depressing, scarry, results of the election.  I can't imagine there ever being a better candidate for president than Mitt Romney.   

Welcome to the world Baby Sarah!!

We are so glad we were able to participate in baby Sarah's blessing on February 26 at 54 Parsonage Way in Attleboro MA.  She is such a cutie like her mama, with large feet like her daddy.  Sarah brings the Peterson girl cousin total to 4 while there are 12 boy cousins and one on the way.   Tatiana's mom and cousin Priscilla were also there from Brazil.  Garrett was in Florida scuba diving and Justin was home with his sick germs.  Grandma had a wonderful lunch afterwards.  Natalie brought cookie dough from Maine to bake for the occasion.  Dad (Hans) made it possible for us to make the quick trip by running the kids around to 4 different piano lessons and 3 basketball games while Mom attended the Stake women's conference.  We left Bangor at 4:30 Saturday in the pm.  It was well worth the quick trip!

All By HERSELF!!

Someone in this family has caught Grammy's sewing bug.  Caroline has created other baby blankets with assistance.  Look at what Caroline did this time without any help from Mom!!  Good job, baby Sarah LOVES her new blankie!
