Stealing a Few More Minutes of "Sleep"
I try not to post pictures of myself that are THIS unflattering, but these are just so classic. After returning from vacation, Viv's schedule is totally off, she's waking up at the crack of dawn and I seem to always think the whole, "climb into bed with me and fall back to sleep" will work, despite SEVERAL failed attempts. Alas, maybe it's my subconscious just liking to cuddle with Viv.

Christmas Photos
Our Christmas photos this year are a little sad. Unfortunately, we somehow lost 90% of them and what's left aren't great. Ah well, at least it's something. Here are some photos of 1) visiting Gilroy Gardens' Christmas Festival with our good friends Mindy and Tyler (on what was a bone-chillingly cold evening) and 2) opening a few gifts at Pop and Grandma Nancy's house. Sadly, we have very few pictures with Rob's family and none with my family. This is mostly sad because both of our mom's had amazing Christmas trees this year which would have made for some great photos. We always have next year I guess! But we did have a very nice Christmas season and loved spending time with our family and remembering what's most important at this wonderful time of year.

Christmas Pageant
Our good friends have the best Christmas tradition. Every year they host a Nativity Pageant at their home and cast all of the children as Mary, Joseph, shepherds, etc. You might recall that last year Viv was cast as an angel.
I seriously thought she was the probably the cutest angel any Christmas pageant had ever seen and that she should be an angel in every Nativity Pageant from now until she's 70. That was until she got cast as a sheep.
Seriously, though, isn't she the cutest sheep you've ever laid eyes on???
This was Viv's big moment. It was just about time for the sheep to take center stage...I had to hold her back until we got the cue.
To keep things interesting, Viv and a couple of the shepherds decided they might light the place on fire with these paper bag candle holders. I think our friends may think twice before putting fire within the reach of toddlers next year. At least within the reach of OUR toddler! ;)

Temple Square Visit
While we were in Utah for Thanksgiving we made the mandatory trip to Salt Lake to see the temple lights. They were, as always, beautiful. This has to be one of my all-time favorite Christmas traditions.
Viv and I getting all bundled up to go out in the freezing cold. Since becoming accustomed to the mild California weather, I have become the biggest cold wimp of all time.

Grandpa Alden was kind enough to entertain Viv for a good part of the trip. She LOVES him. He is such a fun grandpa.

Clayton, Jillaire and Carli did not seem nearly as cold as we weather wimps.
Eliza has to be one of the sweetest little girls I know. When Viv arrived to see her, she had a present all ready for her that she had made. It was a paper bag with her own treasures (jewels, shells, etc.) that she wanted to give to Viv. Apparently she does this whenever anticipated guests arrive. I LOVE her!

Thanksgiving Photos
Thanksgiving dinner #1 took place at my sister Alisa's house...
Viv got plenty of attention as usual.
Logan and Keaton had a good time having a little sister for a day.
Mmmm....homemade rolls!

The kids' table not looking nearly as young as it used my. My goodness time flies! Give them five more years and half of them will be on missions or married. And I am OLD.
In the absence of a suitable turkey carver (or maybe just because nobody else volunteered), I tried my hand at the pivotal duty upon which all Thanksgiving hangs. Your welcome, family!

Letting the food settle with Grandma and Grandpa Purrington. Rob is not pictured because he is off getting seconds...erh, fifths or something.

Family Photo Shoot
This year for Christmas my mom just wanted family photos, so we happily obliged and had our pictures taken professionally for the first time since our engagement photos. Here are some of the better ones. You'll notice most of them are of Viv. That's intentional. The family shots didn't turn out so well. Viv was hamming it up as usual!
