5th of July.

i cant believe that seven days have passed.since graduation day.it felt longer than that.
i am still in denial/mourning phase.i get soo emotional just viewing all the pictures.

and it still felt like a dream.to FINALLY graduate!
the memory of first stepping on belfast ground in the middle of autumn 2005 is still fresh in my mind.and five years later, here i am!!
the ceremony was short and simple. no hassle of rehearsal even.which i like. there were graduates from 3 schools in the morning session,good thing medical school was the first! my name was almost perfectly pronounced. but i kinda expected that my name would be pronounced incorrectly anyways. by 1145,the graduation ceremony has finished and what else other than pictures taking time!
the weather was considerably okay.. at least it didnt rain the whole day. that would spoilt the grad pictures tremendously.. after thousands of pictures later, we had lunch at sakura. i was on the verge of hypo already at around 1330hrs after breakfast as early as 0630hrs, so lunch was very much welcomed.

afterwards, a few more shots of pictures in front of lanyon building and then returned the graduation robe.and that was it, graduation done!


in the evening, K.U &U.F have been so kind to organize a graduation/farewell get-together for the graduates&the families. the food was amazingly delectable as always. i wished it could go on longer but seeing how exhausted ma&pa were (and very much still jet-lagged),we called it a day. and that was probably the last time i'd be seeing some of them,whom i felt very much like my own adopted family while i'm living here in belfast.

from the very bottom of my heart, i cannot thank you all enough. may Allah pay all your good deeds. and you all will be missed.

the sorrow of goodbye

am at city airport. waiting to board the plane to Edinburgh.. they better not cancel the flight this time around!

Y has been a good sport to wake up really early in the morning when I know that he didn't hit the sack at least till 3 a.m last night (or maybe even more later than that) and sent me and the parents to the airport this morning. so if you by any chance is reading this, I cannot thank you enough. and I couldn't help but to feel sad that we might not see each other again... it was only recently that we were able to really get to know each other albeit after I have been living here in Belfast for almost 5 years! I wished I knew you this well sooner! but better late than never,kan? it was definitely a joy to get the chance. ah, I wish we have another great year like this..

oh well, I do hope we see each other sooner rather than later though ;)

(oookay, I didn't really plan to dwell on the feelings, but tears are already pooling at the eyelids. I better stop before mum asks what's wrong)

why is goodbye always a hard thing to do?

the end is near =(

I never thought I'd see this day, the day to collect the graduation robe!
It was a bittersweet moment.You could see all other classmates smiling brightly,after not seeing each other for quite some time now.but i couldnt help it but to feel a bit choked up inside.

I am all excited to finally graduating, but nowadays...
everywhere that I go, there's a heavy tug at the centre of the chest,knowing for a fact that I might never step my feet on these places. probably ever again..

moving on is hard..

seven days of highs and lows.

it's day one post-vacation. and it felt so depressing just staying home.

i along with a bunch of guys&gals started our journey on friday,june 18th. our flight to cyprus was to depart at 2250 GMT. checking in is always a headache,and a slow one. i pity those who are next in line to us. the staff at the desk apparently is a trainee.it took her forever to check the name, and since most of us have two passports (as the UK visa is in the old one),it took her even more longer to figure that out. we turned out to be the last few being given boarding pass.

the journey to republic of cyprus took us 4++ hours. it definitely felt longer than that. i was bored silly.and couldnt really sleep.. once landed, a blast of hot dry air greeted us. it felt like it was in dubai. which i didnt really expect.


then the hired coach took us to our accomodation in konnos bay. after getting our keys,settled in..everyone practically slept in till noon due to little sleep in the plane. in the evening, we went down to the beach.as it was saturday, it was packed full of people. no playing in the water on the first day. we went hiking/walking for good 2.5km to find the cyclop cave. my legs felt like jelly walking along the cliff.. the view was sooo breath takingly beautiful. with the cool sea breeze sweeping your hair, it felt like a scene in a movie.

second day was a pretty relaxing affair. spent the morning at the beach. A,I,N and Y played in the water while i stayed in the shades. it was scorching hot, and the fact that i burn too easily, i kept myself company reading chic lit novel and people watching.. (pssst: the other reason i didnt go into the water this time was, people were gawking at us like we are different species. well the fact that the girls are fully clothed, top to toe in black pretty much draw everyone's gaze towards us.lol.)

third and fourth day, we rented a car. to go to the other part of the island. another road trip,yeehaa! A was the driver, D was the navigator while the rest practically became the radio.=P
a few places that we go: limassol, nicosia,paphos. erk,mana lagi?lupa dah. but i love paphos the most and wished we stayed there instead.

fifth day onwards were spent at the protaras area. we rented two moped/buggies. which look like this:

aaah, the coolest thing ever! though it was impossible to talk due to overly loud engine (which sounded more like the lawn mower), to have an extra layer of compact powder by the end of the ride(from the sand on the road), we couldnt have enough of it. cool gila, i tell you!

then to have fresh fishes barbequed in the darkness (illegaly,i might add!) that was another priceless experience! to add more humour to that,everyone was scarying each other .lol.

ooh, another cool thing: i went on paragliding over the golden coast in Protaras. which i never thought i'd do in a million years.

after the guy strapped me with the equipment and opened the parachute,i started to regret the idea. but i'm glad i didnt chicken out in the end (afterall, €30 was not to be wasted just like that!). then we went on for a crazy UFO ride where we were put on a huge round-shaped float then dragged by a speed boat throughout the mediterranean sea for good ten minutes. too bad there was no pictures of that!

due to over excitement trying various things on our last day, we were late to check out. packing was really exhausting when you need to hurry! thank goodness there was no extra charges for late check outs. 

then the hired coach took us to the airport. everyone practically slept through the journey. then, the usual happens. it took forever for us to check in and get our boarding passes. all other three lanes basically have emptied once we were done with our check-ins. haha.
note to the english/europeans: if you see asians lining up for check in, please get into other lane.lol.

the last getaway (for a long while!)

am blogging at a bar near my hotel room here in Cyprus at midnight. mama tau ni, mau kene jerit! (ma, I swear I didn't do anything funny. am only here for the free wifi :D)

tonight will be the last night. I can't believe 7 nights have just flown by just like that.

I'll write in details once I reach home@Belfast. but in one short sentence, I am a few shades darker (the graduation photo not gonna look as nice as I would hope), a few hundreds € shorts, but I trully had wonderful time with the guys&gals.

aaah, I'll definitely will be missing this place!

upgraded!

yesterday marked the end as well as the new beginning. after five long years (which now felt really short) of medical school, to hear your own name being announced with the rest of the class of 2010 was simply... surreal. and for Prof. S to pronounce my name correctly (which was a surprise!) was icing on the cake. haha.


I religiously hang this ID card on my neck for five years:

aaah, what a great feeling!  joyous aside, what I felt the most was... relieved. Relieved that I did not dissapoint the two most important people in my life. Ma & Pa, this is for you.

Now, can I demand a new car for graduation gift? pretty please?? hehe

and my fellow final MB comrades, I love all of yous. this is not possible without you guys. and I am sure I'll be missing you all once we part our separate ways.

the sky is blue

these past two weekends have been very "busy"!

first, N turned big two-five last week,so there was a birthday dinner, that last till the restaurant about to close up when actually we have long finished eating. the bill amounted close to £230. and that was for 7 people. if it was me that was paying, i would probably just swiped my plastic card without even bother checking every single item that was on the bill. lucky for us, S took the liberty of checking the bill and it turned out the restaurant mistakenly charged the bill of the next table into ours!so, that saved us not to pay 60 quids extra!

then on sunday, N and I along with Y and Z (too many alphabets,haha) went out for bowling. i couldnt remember when was the last time. and i sucked worse this time than i was before (when am i ever great at bowling anyway?haha). even a guy who was limping with a cast on his left leg in the next lane to ours scored better!lol. then off to the mexican restaurant for cocktails and early dinner for Y and Z. i didnt get the chance to try out the fancy drinks on the menu the last time i was there so i ordered one and my,what a delish! and the calamari was really tasty as well.( oh my, i'm salivating just thinking about it.heh)

and as for this weekend:
the final MB gang decided to have BBQ at the park.that was a spur of the moment decision, so buying things for the picnic/BBQ was quite a headache. i made white chocolate&blueberry muffin. the original recipe was white chocolate with raspberry but since the housemates said that they dont really like raspberry,i switched to blueberry,hehe.
yahoo weather forecast said it's gonna rain, bbc said there'd be sunny intervals.so we went to the park anyway. the park & the weather were amazing.. now,*yawn*.i couldnt be bothered to write anymore,so i left you with this:

hear ye hear ye

been MIA much. there's been a few times i felt like writing something,got distracted and forgot about it.

so,what's new?
-finished my final MB part 2 exam last Thursday (which felt like ages ago!). three days of exam were seriously mentally draining! day 1 was okay. day 2&3 were hard. and i could go into serious panic attack mood if i start thinking about it. there's nothing much i can do at this point, except leave it to the most gracious Almighty,that He could grant me His mercy for me to pass this final hurdle..

had a late lunch on the last day of exam. a new Mexican restaurant has just open at House of Fraser and we decided to try out. the lunch menu was cheap and extremely filling.

I couldn't even finished the two course lunch!

soon after i was done with exam, off N and i to London! it was a good but too-short of three-day break.

first stop was Wimbledon! it'll be a dream to watch the Wimbledon championship live but to get tickets is almost impossible now.so to be able to tour around the arena was good enough. too bad it was cloudy and raining,if not there'll be more great pictures!

i kind of regret that i dont watch any musical play sooner but i'm so glad i got the chance to watch the Phantom of the Opera!

all the special effects were seriously ah-may-zing! it kind of bring back memories of ED back in college! and oh, it's funny that even with the help of google maps in iPhone,we both still manage to be lost in the middle of the city. lol. seriously, tak bole masuk amazing race.haha.

and now, i'm in the middle of workshadowing for a month,where basically all the final year students are required to shadow all the FY1 doctors to ease the transition from being a student to (hopefully) a doctor! i'm attached to Dr. T.E in Care of Elderly ward. He is super nice and i havent really been glancing at the watch much because i'm having fun playing doctor.and there's a tiny regret that i will not be working in that hospital come August. though it kinds of frustrating me that i cant really get venflon into patient's vein on the first try. and it doesnt help that all patients in that ward are all frail and the veins werent really great to work on. well, that'll be one of my mission for the workshadow period: to be sleek doing venepuncture & cannulation.


and as of today, the ward was exceptionally quiet.. there's not much job to do. the only thing I did all morning was filing in death certificate. so after countless yawning by the ward counter, I decided to call it a day and went to city centre instead. and I ended up with new set of brushes and few bits&bobs from Benefit. the only thing I need was some-kinda-gorgeous.but since I'm so gulible, I ended up with two more things.

should have paid those things with boots points instead.

and I finally managed to tidy up my room a bit. the notes&books still need sorting out. I got a headache just thinking about cleaning all those up.

oh well, at least I have my dresser all organized.

weeee, what an acomplishment!LOL!

the end is near

today i wake up at half 3 in the morning.which i was not really keen to do.(i need my sleep!)
managed to stumble free from the warm duvet and got myself ready.took a cab to the bus station, got on the 5am bus and off we (N,S and moi) go for SPA interview at dublin.

once we reached the W Hotel... signed-in, filled up a form. then waited anxiously for about an hour or so. i was the fourth candidate to be inteviewed. there were two panels in two separate room. the panel that i was signed for was pretty quick.by the time the 2nd candidate was finished, the other panel was not even done with the first student. (nasib baik tak dapat  that panel.lol) i havent attend any interview for ages so butterflies were definitely flying wild in my stomach. i tried so hard when they were asking questions in bahasa melayu to not rojak-ing my language but a few english words did slipped up. it's seems easier to answer when they ask questions in english. not to say that i'm one of the most articulate,but i think it sounded more formal/professional that way. i was worried that they're gonna asked medical-type questions, especially tropical diseases that i never heard of.
well,after going through the interview, i rather they asked me those as "medical tourism" is definitely something that i know nothing about!

*sigh* going to that interview is another sign.that my journey here almost reaching the end.
after hearing so many "horror" stories of housemanship,i dont know how i'm gonna survive later on..
and i'm not really looking forward  to the sleep-deprived days of working on-calls!
