Wish List

It is sad that Christmas has become a chance for people to value material things than the true meaning of the season it represents. Let us not forgot why we are even celebrating it. Anyhow, I am still making my wish list. ;)
1. Panini maker...sure would love one...really do... :)
2. laptop...I'd like to trade my desktop for a handy dandy laptop...(Santa are you getting this? I've been a good girl. you see...)
3. tv...(do i have to explain? im a self confessed couch potato)
4. ipod--- to replace the one that got stolen...huhuhu
5. nike water bottle...(i just wanted it)
6. bling (dear are you reading this?) still got more...to be updated...:)

Most importantly, all I want for Christmas is having my family close to me, all healthy and happy. :)

Gone Fishing

Went fishing a few months back, just had the chance to blog again though. When I was young, I've gone fishing but kinda just watched as my older sibs and cousins do it. So technically, it was my first fishing trip and got the best lesson from my friend's dad.
The real story was a week before the scheduled fishing trip, we were just hanging out at our friend's house, the usual Saturday poker night, when our friend's dad suggested that we should all go with him fishing. Learn a new hobby and be one with nature. We all looked at each, waiting what to say, smiled and feeling we have no other choice...we agreed, so the following week, fishing it is!

I enjoyed the fishing a lot, though I plan to dress appropriately next time. Shorts and a shirt sure is cool but the sun's rays tend to be a little harsh on the skin...I figured clam digger pants and a fishing hat is a must next time. :)

Things I learned:

• It takes great patience to catch a fish. It's not an instant thing. Usually we just end up feeding them the lures but not actually catching them. :)
• as I have mentioned above, dress to fish...:)
• pick a good spot, have a comfy chair to sit and wait til they bite.:)
• Never give up after a few unsuccessful attempts... :) just like in life...

Interested in a detailed lesson, I found out this wonderful site all about fishing...so take me fishing :)

HEADS - Doctor

I have my own list of favorite doctors. Being a nurse, I encounter a variety of APs with distinct character. :)
1. Dr. B - the "heart" doctor... Such a friendly, really funny and reliable physician. Do rounds everyday, never gets angry or acts like a "primadonna-type", always smiling, knows every nurse and employees by first name basis.
2. Dr. S - "IM"... does daily rounds 2x or sometimes 3x a day. nice penmanship. always smiling. reponds to text messages quickly. appreciates what you do to his patients.

These two were my top picks. Though, most doctors where I work at were really nice, I simply couldn't resist not to be biased and my colleagues would agree to this. :)

Some just have some distinct character that makes them one of kind but then again...thanks to them...

My pretty niece, Sofi, stubbornly tries to ride the kart, only she's a little vertically challenged. :)
We simply could not make kids remain in one position far too long...toddlers especially.
They seem to be on-the-go most of the time...

Bump the bump

Dad had an accident last Sunday evening. A drunk driver obviously had too much to drink was accelerating without even realizing that the stoplight turned red. They're taking it today to Honda to have it repaired. Thank God, my dad wasn't harmed. God is really good...

To all drivers, be responsible when you're behind the wheels...Don't drink and drive...This reminder is too old already, we all know this. Friends of drunk drivers, please don't let them drive.

Be a good defensive driver! :)

***petroleum is too precious right now that accelerating consumes too much of it...a matter of slow and steady driving will get you where you need to go thus, saves you more gas...:)

Latest flick: The Dark Knight

I just saw yesterday, (first day of showing) the latest Batman film and man, was I not disappointed. It lasted for about 3 and half hours, I think and every minute of it was worth the time. I don't want to pre-empt this for those who haven't seen the movie yet. So I won't be sharing any details on the movie..:) But I just want to say that the producers of the film were right when they said that Heath Ledger truly put a different aura to the "Joker" character. A fine film for the late gentleman. Bravo!

Aside from the much awaited "Joker," the film has more surprises to offer. Better line up the movie theaters this weekend. Two thumbs up! :)

Crazy Thoughts: Absence

I so missed blogging...I've been busy the past weeks, though this was never an excuse for me when it comes to typing those keys away, I lost my energy to share my thoughts for a while. Some anonymous individual who has no life at all, has been flooding my comments box with really mean messages. At first, I never really cared about it. I knew that I am not doing anybody any harm. It has become a habit for this insensitive individual that at some point I was offended when he/she left a comment when I posted my entry on the death of my "kabatch" in the sorority. Foul!
I never thought that someone could be so mean and be so insensitive, not to even respect this. After that incident, I decided that I would close my blog for a while and cool off.

I am aware that this is a free country, but everything has a limitation. Too much of everything is bad, right? Free country under the definition that an individual can do as he pleases provided that he follows within the constitution. Anyway, I don't want to be so technical here. What I wanted to say is that this all falls down to the values that our parents have instilled in us. The way that this anonymous individual is treating my blogs shows the level of upbringing he/she had. Let us not abuse this technology. This is the kind of people who brings our country down. I may not see you but God can. He knows the whole truth.
Before you throw other people's dirt...look at yourself...you might be throwing your own...

Crazy thoughts: perfectly imperfect

I was late posting my blogs for this week, haven't got much time as my schedule seemed to change everyday. One day, I was on the afternoon shift, next morning, then night...man, was my body clock confused. Didn't get much sleep for the whole week and as much as I want to blog my body is pleading to me to get to bed. We've been having some staff ratio problems as a number of my colleagues leave to try out a new path in their nursing lives. Wish them the best of luck...will surely miss them...(sniff*)

I had the weirdest exchange with somebody the past week. I am known for being quiet even when things get pretty ugly. I just want it be known that I will stand by my man and my best friend. I know that he is no saint and neither am I. We all have our own dirts but I think that it all boils down to this...having the courage to be honest...be real...be sorry and most importantly... be able to change. Acceptance without limitation. I am living no fairytale...it turns out my life is a fairytale for some. All I want is to have a simple, quiet and happy life. I am not demanding for anything more than what I have. Each single day, I thank God for all the blessings that he showers me with. I am not a perfect person. Sure enough, I am perfectly imperfect, and I am proud of being one.

Before I really pay to get my manicure and pedicure done but after I learned that the most common source of transmission for hepatitis is through the nail clippers, pushers stuff from salon which were not sterilized in each use, I decided to buy my own set of nail care paraphernalia and simply do it myself. Sometimes, (in really special occasions) we have a manicurist do home visits and have our manicures done with our own sets of nail clippers and stuff.

Family Tradition

Our whole fam (My' mom's and her twin sis' fam) hear mass at Antipolo Church, known as the "National Shrine of the Virgin of Peace and Good Voyage," every year, during the month of May. Our purpose (this is what I have always believed since I was small is that we go there to thank the dear patron for the safe journey we had the past year and to ask for continued guidance and safe trip on the road and with each paths that we take on our lives.
The church has consecutive mass celebrations every hour for the whole day. We were fortunate to be on time for the 9am schedule. Numerous people go to Antipolo and it truly was always hard to get a seat inside the church.

We lit up candles and said a prayer for safe voyage.

After the mass, we did the much awaited buying of goodies such as "kasuy" (cashew nuts) and suman, which comes relatively cheap in this place. We got a great deal for only P300 for a kilo of freshly cooked cashew nuts. yum yum! We bought enough for the whole month...hehe...

I may not have the greatest job in the world; they say pay is good when you get to the greener pastures...I say, when will I get there? :) This may sound cheesy but the greatest pay that could ever be given is seeing those patients go home well. Hearing their sweet thank yous warms my heart. They have no idea how much pride we feel that they have acknowledged our help. There were times when I also feel frustrated that despite trying to do everything for them, some would even try to make you feel so low. Like it's our fault, that they're feeling bad. I just have to understand that they're sick. Unconditional understanding...and great self control not to scream...hehe... This is a nurse's life and more. :)

Out to recuperate

Awake for 48 hours...will rest...will sleep...sick...hope i get better soon...
no voice...no energy...tired...weak...see you when i get better...

Crazy thoughts: sick mode

I have been feeling under the weather right now. Just got off from work, I feel so sick though still have enough strength to type these entry...:) Yesterday, I was feeling really sick and sent an sms to my superiors asking if I could take the day off. I got a reply saying I can't and that no one is available to relieve me from my duty. I have no choice but to drag my sick self to the hospital to tend to my fellow ill patients. Ironic that some even actually look and felt much better than I was. To add to my heavy feeling, we were bombarded with numerous admissions that I ended up handling 11 patients, 4 for several procedures, 1 trans-in from ICU, 1 on hourly monitoring of blood pressure. Aside from the usual routine done, I had to check the whole chart of what doctor's orders were made and if everything was done etc... My hand was feeling sore from the nurses' notes that I had to write for all of those patients. It was an easy job but my headache and runny nose kept me from thinking really clearly. I so wanted to just lie on my bed and sleep. Rest...rest...rest... I can hear my body whispering to me...
Anyway, I was thankful that I survived my whole duty despite my rotten condition.

3. Tubig na lang ang tingin mo sa gin. (Hindi naman...pero na-experience ko na gawing chaser ang gin/pom with hard drinks and tequila...totally wasted ang lola mo! hehe)

4. Ginamit mong reviewer ang mga old exams para sa mga midterms, prefi at finals sa math, stat, chem, physics, eco etc. (of course! hehe...super useful to sa kin esp. COMSC I. :)

5. Hindi ka sumasagot ng UP (yupeee) kapag tinanong ka kung saan kagraduate. Hahaha! Sagot mo elbi.

6. Taga-elbi ka kapag kilala mo yung professor na nagbi-bike ng naka-barong na kupas. (Si climax! kalahating albert einstein, kalhating mang pandoy) ~ nakita ko na syang naglalakad ngayon...pero hila hila nya ung bike. hehe

7. Ok lang pumasok sa mga klase kahit naka pambahay/pantulog attire ka. ~ (I remember, I had a bet once with my two friends if we can last the whole week going to class na nakapambahay...and of course walang nagpatalo sa ming tatlo. Although, galit na galit si ate ko nun kasi yuck daw..hehe...but I don't wear my super pambahay clothes naman.. shorts and shirts. freshmen days hehe)

8. Pag nagtanong si manong driver ng "may animal ba dyan?", at may sumagot ng "meron po" ay di ka natawa. ~ (korek! although sasagot din ako ng ansci po..hehe)

9. Pag nagtanong uli si manong driver ng "may mens ba dyan?", at may sumagot uli ng "meron po" ay di ka natawa.

10. Di ka nahihiyang magbitbit ng malaking payong. ~ (part to ng get-up! hehe...di uso folding dun! )

Car Trouble

I have to thank my dearest cuz, Kujules (its actually Kuya Jules), for fixing the window of their car, which I borrowed so I could go to work this today. The passenger window got stuck and would not go up again. I was totally clueless with what to do with it. I sent an sms to my dearest cuz who went to rescue me as I was planning to sleep inside the car since I could not leave it open. It was already 12am and I knew it was beyond a doubt that he'd get pissed off but I was wrong. He gladly offered to come over and fix it. Yey! Thankfully after about 5 minutes, the window was fixed. I could sleep soundly now...:)
The thing is I only know how to start a car and drive it. When it comes to car problems, I have no idea what to do except to call for help! :) I have to try to learn something with the basics...I know how to change a flat tire but i can't do it alone. :) I have to make sure my phone has a lot of credits...hehe... can't be too sure the car's gonna run smoothly all the time.

Crazy Thoughts: Poker Mania

It's not the winning that matters, its the honor...:) I remember my cousin, Jed, telling me this when he was heads up with my BIL. The latter was suggesting a split the pot since it was getting pretty late and they were all sleepy, but Jed didn't agree with the offer. He said he didn't care about the money, it's the honor...its the pride of winning. :)


We only play the game for fun though, unlike for others who really gamble and go to casinos just to play. We just do this for a mere bonding time and relaxation. :) It's not a pure luck game. It also requires a good strategy and logic. I can't wait for the tournament! I have to practice on my poker face though... not really a bluffer...:)

9. Monina ~ Nina Republic - My mom always puts the family first before anything else. A really sweet, thoughtful and caring mom, a tray of hot chicken noodle soup, hot chocolate, orange juice, water and bread would always be ready whenever we were sick. Even now, weekends mean a huge menu for the whole family. We are the fruits of her motherly greatness...:) I feel so blessed for having her as my mom. I love her so much!
