Weekly Wrap Up September 5th 2026

Elder Nelson Update: Skyler continues to work hard and do well! He is still in Vienna but traveled recently to Frankfurt for Zone Conference. 

 *I have been busy this week getting things ready for the upcoming Welby PTA Fun Run. Things are moving but there is a lot of organization that comes with this. 
*Scott took a trip to St. George for work where he got to present to the Chamber of Commerce
*We went to Zupas for Welby Spirit Night! 
*I subbed in a special ed class at a different school! It was fun and way easier than I thought it would be.
*Andrew has discovered Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales. He got 6 or 7 of them from the library and all day, every day, 1 to 4 children can be found with NHHT in hand, reading. It is hilarious (and frustrating as it so often happens when one has been asked to "practice piano" or "do your jobs' etc). 
*Trey and Carson had LAX tryouts this week. It went really well. 
*We had dinner up Millcreek Canyon with the Snows and Osbornes. It was SO nice to be up there. We had great food. The kids had fun playing. The hammock string broke with Kayla and Liv in it (everyone was fine) and the night was peaceful and perfect. 
*Dad took the boys on a fishing/hiking day trip. They caught 21 fish. Poor Andrew still hasn't caught a fish all by himself. learning curves stink sometimes. 
*The girls stayed home, went shopping and watched Barbie. Note-Kayla can make anything look cute, even prison-esk suits. It's a talent
*BYU opened their season vs Utah Tech. It went about how you would expect. It is easy to look good against a team like that so who knows. We did have a pretty serious injury occur (Raider Damuni) and are waiting for updates. He was in a lot of pain and had to be carried off the field. 

Weekly Wrap-up August 29th, 2026

Elder Nelson Update: Skyler went to Frankfurt for a zone conference. Traveling to Frankfurt from Vienna takes about 8 hours. He has to get on and off several trains and then it is riding through beautiful countryside. This last time to Frankfurt, he was able to attend the temple, which was a good experience for him. 

Family Update: This was a pretty chill week. The first full week of school went pretty smoothly. Olivia did throw up on Tuesday night so we got to hang out on Wednesday, when she was acting totally fine. The kids had youth activities this week; Kayla went to the T-ville temple and all boys had swim parties-Carson and Trey at the Watts and Andrew at the Cox'. Carson got an answer to his HOCO ask! It was cute! I had my first sub job and it went really well! Our ward hosted a Primary Service Project. We painted rocks and made a rock garden. All of the rocks had cute messages and/or pictures. We had a swim party with friends at the Snow's pool. This was fun because Scott even got to come! Olivia was named Student of the Week in Mrs. Woolf's class for being a good listener! On Friday, Kayla had her first day of Darby's Dancers. She will be a buddy this year to kids with special needs. We think this will be a cool opportunity and she enjoyed her first time. We took our friends to see the Paw Patrol Movie. It was a really cute movie and the kids were adorable! Carson attended BHS home football game. Scott and I went to the temple. Kayla played in a soccer game-she scored! And her team won 10-0. Just as their game ended, our area was hit with a massive thunder/lightning storm with torrential rain. It was crazy. Andrews flag football game was cancelled. We attended Christine Kidd's 50th birthday party. We had a lot of fun celebrating her and being with family. Speaking of family, Doug and Edie were visiting from Spokane and came to our house Saturday to spend some time with us. 

 

Weekly Wrap-up August 22nd 2026

 Elder Nelson Update: He is still in Vienna and doing well. They are finding friends and still working to build up the area and get grow their Persian Group. He is learning a lot and growing so much. While on a call with us, he got up and started sweeping. I said something like, "Getting some cleaning done?" And he replied, "Somebody's got to." He is learning! haha

This week was bittersweet. All the kids headed back to school. It was a good week and busy and the quiteness of the house has yet to be experienced as I kept myself pretty busy. That will come. I will do a back to school post in a different post. 

*Trey's sunday school teachers hosted a end of summer pool party. Trey had a lot of fun hanging out with his class
*We attended Back-to-School night at Welby. I had to do PTA stuff so Scott took Andrew and Liv to see their classrooms and meet their teachers. It was a good night but a bit sad as it means that school really is about to start. 
*On Tuesday, Trey and Andrew rode the front runner up to Farmington and spent the day at Lagoon with Trey's friends. They had a really good time. 
*I helped serve donuts with the ERMS PTSA to the cute 7th graders on their first day back. 
*Tuesday evening, we did our "Favorite Things" dinner. The line up this year was: 
Scott: Fruit-strawberries, mangos, raspberries
Me: Bread-texas toast
Carson: appetizer-shrimp
Trey: Drink-yoda soda
Kayla: Dessert-choc. chip cookies
Andrew: Main-buffalo chicken spudtoddos
Liv: Veggie-broccoli

*On Wednesday, after dropping our kiddos at school, Karen and I went to Lagoon for 4 hours. The place was empty. We arrived at 10:20 and left at 2 and had a 20 minute lunch break. And we rode Primordial x2, Reentry x2, Blast off, Samari, Canibal x2, Colasses, Wicked, Spider, The Nutcracker x2, The Roller Coaster, and Rattlesnake Rapids. We did all of that in about 3 hours. It was a fun day and fun to spend time with Karen. The kiddos were definitley jealous! 
*On Thursday, Scott and I celebrated 21 years of marriage! It has been a wonderful ride this far and we look forward to many more years. We celebrated by eating at Ruths Chris Steakhouse. It was a really fun experience. While there, we had 5 different employees wish us a happy anniversery and thank us for spending it with them. They also provided a free dessert for us (Peanut Butter pie was AMAZING!) 
*We helped Carson with his homecoming dance ask.
*On Friday, I dropped Scott and Carson off at the airport. They are headed to Seattle to fulfill Carsons 16th birthday gift to see a Mariners game (There were no games left last year when he received the gift). See seperate post for that. 
*Today we received word that Indy Clover-South Jordan, is closing its doors NEXT WEEK! We really didn't have time but we found time to run over to the store. This has become a staple for us this last year and we have loved finding all of the killer deals at IC. We are so sad to see it go. 
*Friday night, both girls had birthday parties to go to. They had fun and I took Trey and Andrew out to Cafe Rio. Then we had fun doing family karoake. 
*When Scott is away, there are always sleepovers in my bed 💙
*Saturday, Kayla and Andrew had games (soccer, flag fottball). Both kids also played at the Snows house. I went to a memorial service for Christ Bjorling. He was the Bishop of the Canandaigua ward at the end of my youth years. He also performed the ring ceremony for Scott and I on our wedding day. It was a really beautiful service and I enjoyed seeing friends from my growing up years. 
*Saturday evening I was supposed to go to the stake retreat. The Eversheds were going to pick me up at 5. When I picked Andrew up from the Snows house at 435, he started to cry and said his tummy was hurting. We got home, I grabbed a bucket and we were walking to his room and he threw up. I decided to stay home to help him and I'm glad I did. There were several more throw ups. We had a family movie night. We watched Dispicalbe Me #2. Then we put Andrew and Livvy to bed and took Trey to a friend get together. Then Kayla and I did our nails and watched Work and the Glory. 

Back to School 2026

It is official. All of the kids are back to school! Everyone had a good start to the school year and everyone was excited to see friends again.
