Thoughts for the Day

Random thoughts/quotes that I find very apropos - or just plain funny:

1. Some days you're the bug, some days you're the windshield.

2. A closed mouth gathers no foot.

*Emily says something quite funny and witty for a 9 year old (she has a great sense of humor)* and I respond...
Me: Emily, you say funny stuff - you make me laugh
Em: Yeah mom, that's what funny people do

*I order dinner at a drive-thru, including a chili dog with onion for Chris*

Me: (at the drive-thru)... and I'd also like a chili dog with onions
Em: really... onions too?
Me: yes, that's what daddy wants
Em: he's going to have some crazy gas after that -- it's not going to be pretty
Me: *snorting with laughter*... yes, I think you're right about that.


I think her insight on life will serve her well!

Welcome to Maui

Good morning sunshine... I could not adjust to the 6 hour time difference so I watched the sunrise every morning!

A beautiful sunset that I never saw because I was so flippin' seasick on the dinner cruise that I laid down below deck and wished I could die... who knew a girl who grew up on the ocean would end up seasick? Pathetic.

Coconut monkey bank... we all made fun of Chris because he kept talking about a stupid coconut monkey bank that he had seen in Hawaii many moons ago when he was there as a teenager... we were sure he was making it up - something so kitchy really couldn't exist could it? Yep... walked into an ABC store and there it was -- it was like the heavens opened and smiled on Chris -- of course we had to bring one home!

Summer Fun

We haven't done a whole lot this summer but there have been a few activities mixed in here and there to break up the monotony. Em has spent some time at the pool, a week at the local science center (COSI) at CSI Camp (which she totally loved) and a few other random events. Last week the hospital hosted a family night at the zoo -- who knew that they had changed it so much since I was there in the spring? They've built a whole area with amusement park rides (a small selection but still fun nonetheless) so when she and her friend saw this part of the zoo - it was totally over! We never actually went into the zoo... no animals, nothing... just rides! Of course I didn't have a regular camera so the pics on my cell phone will have to suffice - crappy quality and all.

This is the rollercoaster -- not huge but they had a good time. Emily was waving like a mad-woman everytime they went by -- she's circled in one of these.

Em is also still loving her gymnastics class... hopefully I'll get some real pictures at some point but here she is working on the little beam. She's still talking non-stop about when dance starts back up for the season... *sigh* guess I'm resigned to another year of dancing madness!
