have you seen the google page today?! if not, check it. it's SO cool. like, outrageously cool. favorite google page by far. i've never really done the whole celebrity crush thing...of course i've thought (and discussed) that several actors are severely attractive (hugh dancy, james marsden, shemar moore, ian harding...sigh. :)) but one man i have recently fallen in love with (as in, on the verge of major crush) is james david rodriguez. aka, james roday. aka, shawn spencer from psych. oh yes. :)

and i love dule hill (gus)...and them together...and psych in general. i'm just in love. my oh my, everybody. my oh my.

ps--this is not a simply looks-based, shallow evaluation. shawn is probably one of my favorite characters of all time. he is adorable and hilarious and genius and he can totally pull off the scruff and ah. (we're ignoring, for a moment, the fact that he is entirely fictional...thanks for humoring me there :))

Missing eyebrow club...feel free to be jealous ;)

This is my friend G. I love her guts and she is just the cutest thing ever. :) She had a longboarding accident a bit ago and had to have stitches, so now half of her right eyebrow is missing a tad. And, as many of you may know, I have 3/4 of my left eyebrow gone after my surgeries! So we decided to form a club dedicated to ourselves and our lack of eyebrow-ness...it's quite the cool club, really ;) haha. You probably can't really tell on this pic, but I swear our eyebrows kinda match. And since it's her right eyebrow and my left, we kinda complete each other! Presh, right? Right :) haha

homecoming say what?! :)

sorry the title totally spoils the surprise, but i was running out of originality...and i was just too excited to contain myself for a minute...whoops :)

but, as you can see, i got asked to homecoming last monday! i'll let the pictures tell ya'll how, since i know that's the first question...:)

so here's the fun part: i was on my way home from a prosthodontist appointment, when i get a text from a number i don't know...

them: "Lauren- have you been asked to homecoming?"

me: "no, i have not! and who is this...?"

them: "well if you check your front porch you might find out!"

CUTE, no??

thus the freaking-out ensued. i eventually got home to find that stuff up there...i was just a tad bit excited...nbd. ;)

then, of course, came the answering! what fun for me...:)

overview: on about 540 post-it notes, i wrote "yes", "of course", "definitely", etc. in every single language google translate has...including arabic, chinese, and all those crazy ones. (plus english slang--"heck yes", "you bet", blah blah blah) and wallpapered his entire room with them. THEN, i got about a zillion kinds of candy from target and put them on his bed with the poster that said "i'm lucky to be 'stuck' with you! we'll be the sweetest couple at homecoming!!"

i should've gotten pictures of me writing all the post-it notes, but i didn't think of it until i was already done...drat. but i did get pictures of the final product, so enjoy :)

his mom and little sister helped me, and lemme tell ya-it was about the funnest thing EVER...we were laughing like, the entire time. it was great. haha. his sister was super pro about it and made sure that the different colors were evenly distributed and she even made the lines above his window and mirror...and she always made sure the color her mom handed her was the right one for the pattern. plus, since my date is reeeally tall, we decided to make a few hard for even him to reach. which caused his sister to get step stools...and start stacking them. hahah. it was such fun, and, what i thought to be, a clever way to answer. btw, the "YES!!!" on the door was his sister's idea...she's great :)

then, i realized that i had put some special post-its in my pocket and had forgotten about them until i got into the parking lot to go to the football game! they made a sentence, and i was originally planning to put them in the hallway leading to his room full of sticky notes and candy...well, good thing i'm flexible! instead of the hallway idea, i texted his cousin (who drove them to the game) and asked where his car was...then i attacked it with even more post-its. :P

(you totally can't even see because of the awful lighting...sorry.)

the dance is on the 17th (suuper early this year) and i am so totally stoked. besides the fact that it's a dance (my very first homecoming...oh yay :)), i have the absolute best date on the whole planet. it's gonna be a total blast. :)

it's very obviously homecoming season, because all my posts tonight are about that very thing...and what a wonderful thing it is :)

this one's super short--don't blink, cuz you'll totally miss it.

so one of my bestest friends got asked to homecoming last wednesday...he wrote her a little letter that was presented by the wednesday watchamacallit (mvt chorale thing...a marvelous thing, but you'd have to be part of it...sorry.) that she had to read in front of the whole choir of 80-something people. then, after school, a bouquet of roses was waiting for her at the attendance office. each rose had a letter of the guy's name on it, and we had to unscramble them. then we stood in a line and took a pic...cuz that's what we do.

yay for friends. and dances. and boys. and friend boys who ask you to dances. k, the end :)

ps-the title isn't the way he asked her...i just thought it was a cute little rhyme. haha.

asher book.

tonight (just barely, actually...) my parents and i were watching the mentalist...(great show, btw.) and i realized that the son of one of the suspects was none other than asher book!

this handsome man is in fame and i must say, i think he's pretty darn cute. .....when he has the right haircut. :P

it's fun when you see people from other shows and movies you love in another show or movie. especially when you're not expecting it! (and it's just fun to be right when you call it and it turns out to be them...being right is always a nice bonus ;))

anyways, i simply had to tell you about it. because i was excited for a second. and i just think he's cute. oh, and i think he has a cute name...the end. :)

i could have danced all night...

this...

...is me! ha, jk everybody...BUT i am a step closer to being somewhat of a dancer!

i started dance on monday and i am so super excited. i have fun girls in my class, a wonderful, fun teacher (with awesome music choice), and it's so good to dance! i did ballet before, but i quit a few years ago...now i'm in jazz/contemporary and it's gonna be great!

plus, i just love these pictures (that i found on stumbleupon, of course :)) so i just couldn't resist sharing :)

ps-can anyone name that movie/musical in the title?! i can't give you a prize, but...hey, it's a fun little game anyways, right? haha

comic relief to redeem my absence

so, since i'm now a...wait for it, wait for it...SENIOR at our dear mvt, i have a life again...which i haven't had since i started this thing at the start of the summer. therefore, i've been slacking a bit...sincerest apologies, everybody.

to help you forgive me, i've decided to present some more things that made me laugh...love. enjoy!

gotta love the chilluns.

twice a week, i get to go to the house of a fabulous family and babysit their 3 fabulous kids and have some fabulous adventures. i love it :) i even get paid to hang out with them! how cool, right??

we've made corn dogs (they showed me the right way to make them...which was definitely the right way), we've made popsicles, we've played the card version of life (never knew it existed until then...they've already cultured me), we've watched smurfs and garfield and muppets, we've practiced on a brand new cello, we've sung songs (EVERY word) from tangled/wicked/mulan/all sorts of other good stuff, played legos, done nails...it's a blast :)

my second day, me and their little boy played legos...and let me tell ya, he's got LOTS of legos...he loves them. we played for a long time, and i guess we played pretty hard, cuz this is how he ended up:

then, yesterday, one of the girls (who loves doing nails and hair and all that jazz) wanted to do my nails. so she did. she chose the nail polish and, i must say, she did a lovely job, and i loved our conversation we got to have...it was quite the party. haha

she's totally pro. since i've never gone to get my nails done, she was giving me tips of where to go, what to get...all that stuff. i feel much the wiser.

all in all, we always have a marvelous time...i'm a lucky girl :)

marriage advice from days gone by...

so when k and i came back from utah (which was SO fun and nice :)), we brought with us a box of mom's stuff that my uncle found at grandma and grandpa's house. in it were pictures from high school dances, old family photos, and of course "Creating a Celestial Marriage". From my mom's college days at good ol' ricks...ha.

she, my dad, and i were reading through it tonight and got some seriously good laughs out of some of them...seriously. so, for your entertainment and enjoyment, here is "ways to make marriage exciting" (1980's style)...

what a husband can do:

1. kiss the back of your wife's neck often

2. don't think you always have to keep your chin up. cry a little--she'll love mothering you

3. bring her flowers while she can still smell them

4. use the same good manners with your wife that you would with a business client

7. ask your wife's advice on business problems and sometimes take it

8. don't think tenderness is sissified; it's really strength

10. give her what you know she wants instead of what you think she should have

11. never say "i had that for lunch today"

12. when she is telling a story, don't give away the punch line

13. learn some new jokes for the sake of your wife, who has heard the old ones so often

15. leave parties when your wife wants to--within an hour or so

fun, food, and a smidge of sisterly love

this girl...

is my sister. sometimes, she and i do fun things. and, somehow, they always seem to include getting food. which i don't mind, of course, but i'm pretty sure she's just trying to make me fat...no good. haha. but i'll take it if it means i can have fun with my sister. :)

sometimes, we do crazy things...people probably think we're weird, but a) it's true, so it doesn't matter and b) it makes us laugh, so it's worth it.

one of these weird, random things was this little guy:

yes, it's a horse...made out of straw wrappers...on top of delish macaroni grill bread...i think he's pretty cool, personally. alas, my sister's the one that made it...i just took the picture and told you guys about it...:P

also, in the background, you'll notice the paper tablecloth, crayons, and writing/drawing...that's gotta be my favorite part of macaroni grill. the bread comes second...tied with the moment the server writes their name upside-down with a crayon and still makes it beautiful--it amazes me every time. we also practice every time...i still can't do it :P (but mom's pretty good :))

anyways, k's taken me to nielsen's for frozen custard and fries, brought me chicago land food (tonight...including deep fried zucchini...YES. :)), sonic, bahama bucks, and probably a bunch of others that i'm missing.

i love bahama bucks...a lot. mmmm :)

the sign isn't lying--the spoons are seriously cool. they change color...we kept them :) haha

well, don't tell her i said so, but i really do love her. as well as our little adventures (even though they do make me fat ;)) we have fun :)

once upon a time, i went to an appointment with my surgeon. (yes, this was like, a month ago, but i'm super behind on everything else too, so oh well :P) while we were in the waiting room, we were checking out the pictures on the walls, which were these crazy-colored paintings of dogs and cats with their names underneath. well, there was this one doggy that didn't have a name...

so, naturally, my mother took it upon herself to name it...and what was the name, you may ask? schnookers. bahaha. i could not stop laughing...it's actually kinda a cutesy little name, but i didn't expect it, and i think i may have been a little bit hyper...so my mom and i are sitting there cracking up, laughing so hard we're crying, and my poor dad is just sitting there looking at us like we're crazy. jk, he was laughing, but i think he was mostly laughing at us. that whole situation happens a lot...we have a little too much fun :)

then, mom started commenting on the other pets' names, and right next to her precious schnookers was a cat named squirt.

mom started talking about "why would they name the cat squirt? that's just a weird name for a cat." and i was like, "it's better than schnookers!" and we burst out laughing again as she tried to defend herself through the giggles. then, as we were still laughing, we were called in for our appointment...the secretary looked amused. glad we could at least entertain her...haha

and then, as we were on our way out, we noticed a sign by the elevator.

i noticed the typo...and i started cracking up again. and took a picture. to show all of you. it's really not that funny, especially since they're everywhere nowadays...but at the time, all three of us thought it was great...yeah...welcome to our lives. hope you all have something to laugh at and someone to laugh with too. it's great :) haha

as you may have deducted...

so if you've been reading my blog, which is likely since you are right now, you've probably noticed that our technical difficulties that wrecked my world have been resolved! YAY! mom figured out (somehow...) that internet explorer will let you change backgrounds, etc. and let you upload pictures. but google chrome is the one that will let you publish your posts. why can't they just cooperate? srsly. but, regardless of their trivial little issues, it all works out. not quite as simply as i'd prefer, but simply enough.

so i'm back in action and blogging, cuz i just couldn't handle blogging with that nasty background...(ha, jk. i just got busy and lame and just didn't write...:P) well, i'm back in action for now at least...school starts TOMORROW, so i'll have to work on writing papers over posts...cuz i'm actually gonna do my homework this year. i promise. ;)
