First of all, sorry about the lack of posts! Today's post is going to be jam-packed so thank you for reading.
We have been busy learning some more reading strategies to look for during our reading time. We learned the sound of "or" by making S'mores and have also been learning a song about "when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking". That means that if two vowels are beside each other in a word, the first one says its name. For example, in the word coach, the o says its name.
We have a few important events coming up this week!
First of all, we have the One Book One School Closing Assembly on Wednesday, April 16. We will be wrapping up our book "The Lemonade War" that you have been reading at home. Try to finish the book before Wednesday because we will be celebrating the conclusion of the story. Parents are welcome to come to the assembly that starts at 2:00.
Pizza Day is on Wednesday, April 16.
Marathon Club registration forms are due on Thursday, April 17. Marathon Club is a huge event at the school where students get to run twice a week outside and then finish their final mile in the marathon in Cardston at the Cardston Kids Marathon. Not only is it fun fun fun, but it is great exercise for the kiddies!
We had SO much fun on Friday decorating eggs! Thank you, thank you to all of the parents who donated eggs. We had so much support that each student got to decorate 5 eggs each! We did some traditional vinegar-dye and crayon eggs, and then tried some shaving cream and food coloring eggs. The latter method was a ton of fun, but was quite messy! I apologize for the dyed hands that went home on Friday and I am fully going to blame it on my husband who was in charge of that station, haha.
Easter Holidays start on April 18 (Good Friday) and school resumes on April 28.
Now for the fun stuff-Picture Overload!!
The fun begins with our "S'mores" lesson on the "or" sound. When then wrote about "How to Make a S'more".
Here we begin our egg decorating adventures!
Thanks for reading!
