A new me....I hope!

Well gals, I know I have 2 followers so I thought I'd better let you know that I will be starting a new blog, it will be called The Road to Imperfection. The past two years have been pretty rough for me, and I'm learning that it might just be me that is causing all this undue stress. Perfectionism, isn't healthy. Especially when you continually fail at all you feel is necessary to be a good person aka perfect. It's mainly going to be a venting journal for me so I can be accountable to myself and not get stuck in a rut again. I need some sunshine!

Prophet Snowball

I'm second counselor in our Primary and was teaching my sharing time about how the Lord speaks through his Prophets and I asked the primary children to name some prophets from the past and then our current prophet, and one of my sunbeams (4 yr old) yellow out Brother Snowball!!!! It was so cute!

I tell Zack, and he says, finally someone who comprehends my potential! So true, we all have this kind of potential. =)

A whole new world

As I have been praying for the Spirit to be with me and in our home, I have stopped numerous times throughout the day in just shock, that I have been able to control my temper, talk calmly with my children, and actually enjoy being with them. I have craved these feelings for so long. I can't believe how wonderful it is and how grateful I am to have the Spirit in my home.

Don't get me wrong, there is still plenty of the natural Emily here, but I can see, feel, and enjoy the difference and hope that I will continue to make our home a holy place where we all crave to be. This is exciting.

A miracle occured

This morning while we were all getting ready, Porter accidently swung his shirt over his should knocking off a ceramic bird from the fireplace smashing it to bits. This was sad for me as it was a Ross find so not really able to get a replacement, oh well. The miracle was.....drum roll please.....I didn't get mad, I didn't yell, I wasn't even annoyed that I now had to clean up glass. It was so sureal! And WONDERFUL! I looked at Porter, said it's a shame as that was one of my favorite birds, then said I knew it was an accident, then asked for an apology. He was happy to apologize, I think he was in shock, and wondering what had happened to his Mother, if alien's had taken over or something. =) I then Explained to him that Zack and I have been trying to make a more concious effort to keep the Holy Ghost in our home and with us always so that we might be able to choose the right. I told him that when I heard the glass crash, that I was not upset, I was able to see what I loved more (Porter) and was able to have the appropriate reaction. It might be sad that it's taken me 10 years of mothering to figure this out, but I tell you it wasn't me at all. I'm so grateful for the Spirit in our home and that we are succeeding in trying to make our home a Holy Place. It is incredibly freeing being able to react or rather not react and to just love. Hope is here!

humph

Well no new ideas here, the keys are still being hung up and that actually has really helped. i'm trying to get back on the flylady band wagon to get more of a cleaning routine down that isn't overwhelming. I have also not gone to the gym in two weeks, and honestly I feel that has REALLY helped. I think I might be putting to much pressure on myself leading to detriment and not positive results. I need to go back, but maybe with a different mindset. And the fact that it is cold and flu season make it easier for me to stay home and keep Preston healthy, since any cold sends him to the ER almost every time.

He just had his 18 month check up, doing great. 50% percentile in weight but tall for his age, and his head is large =) That's why he is so darn cute. He is talking more all the time and it is really fun to see his little personality creeping to the surface. He loves to give chase and is trying out tantrums now. ilch. But hopefully he will see that they aren't effective and move on. He is so different from the other kids and still similar, he loves to tease, make people laugh, and is determined to have his way, yet he is also so very sweet, loves to be held, hates sleeping in his crib, wont drink milk out of a cup (bottles are gone) just started sleeping through the night at 18months. Altogether he is one sweet little man. And I'm so thankful he is mine.

Time for some tutus...

Dang it!

Just wrote a funny post, and it's all gone. Dash it all!

Out of time so here's the skinny:

Trying to start with baby steps as I try to lower stress in my life. Baby step goal for this week was hanging up my keys on the key rack EVERY time I came home. I forgot to once, but that is pretty darn good for starting cold turkey. =) Or is it hot turkey? Anyway, what should my baby step goal be for next week? Any ideas?

Preston LOVES to wash his hands, and I let him 15 minutes at a time. =) no soap though, just water, water, water. =)
