Happy Halloween!

Halloween was on a Monday, so it felt like we celebrated it all weekend, which was so much fun! As soon as Chad got off work, we took Duke to a few houses for trick-or-treating. He caught on to the "free candy" thing real quick so he was loving every minute of it! Holidays really are so much more fun with kids!

Trick-or-Treating at Grandpa's Work

My dad works for Family Search, and every year before Halloween they have a trick or treating throughout their building. This is mine and Duke's second year going, and it just keeps getting better and better. This year he was able to carry his own bucket and go from office to office getting candy. He got SO much candy, that his bucket was hard for him to carry, but he was determined to still carry it. If I tried to carry it for him, he would get so afraid, he didn't want to lose his candy. It was pretty funny.

Duke dressed up at Woody from Toy Story and I dressed up as Jane. His little outfit was to die for. He was not a fan of his hat and it was impossible for him to keep it on. It was still pretty darn cute without it, though.

Cornbelly's

Cornbelly's is a must during Halloween. It has the most activities for kids, we could spend hours there! I met up with Christine there and she was able to get us in for $5, which is a killer deal!

Basically, it's impossible to get 4 kids to sit still and smile for the camera haha. I love these crazy pictures though, because it shows their true personality :)

Duke is in that phase where he just wants to run everywhere always, getting him to sit still is nearly impossible. He keeps me on my toes all day, and I love it! It was a such a fun morning!

Hee Haws

I have been so bad at keeping up with my blog lately, life has been crazy! So the next few posts will be catch ups!

In October, we took Duke to Hee Haws farm in Pleasant Grove. He wouldn't stop screaming with excitement every time the little train drove by, so we going on it was a MUST! To say he was in heaven would be an understatement (although his face says otherwise haha). His love for anything with wheels is unreal. But for reals.

At first, he was a little intimidated at the corn pit, but that didn't last long after we threw him in there.

Feeding the goats was one of his favorite activities!

We took a little tractor ride around the pumpkin patch.

Duke loved being able to run around and explore everything. We kept him up an hour past bedtime because he was loving it! It was such a fun night!

Wilkerson Farms

Fall is my favorite time of year, and it's just gotten even more fun with Duke! His love for tractors, cars, buses.. (basically anything with wheels), runs deep! He is ALL boy. I knew he would love Wilkerson Farms because they have the cutest little tractors to ride and play on and ride around the farm. His legs weren't long enough to drive it, but he was loving just pushing it around. I'm so excited to take him to all of the other fun pumpkin patches in town! Gotta take advantage of this nice weather while we can!

After the farm, we went to Nielsen's Grove park and fed the ducks, one of Duke's favorite activities! I love spending my days with him. He has such a sweet countenance about him and I'm so grateful I get to be his mom!

It's a...

First off, I have been slacking in the blogging world and have been SO bad at documenting this pregnancy! Life has been so crazy busy lately, but I need to start getting back in the habit of blogging, since it's my "journal"!

On September 9, I had my 16 week check up with my maternal fetal medicine specialist. I go in every 4 weeks to their office for an ultrasound to check my cervix. At my 12 week appointment, they said they would be able to check the gender at this appointment, so to say I was so excited would be an understatement! Since Chad was unable to attend the appointment because of work, I had the ultrasound tech write the gender on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope. That way we could open it together.

That night we went to Malawi's for dinner and anxiously opened the envelope. We were so excited to see that it's a BOY! We are so happy to add another little man to our bunch!! Duke is going to be the best big brother and I can't wait to have TWO little boys running around!

Cerclage Round #2

The morning of Aug. 22, I woke up anxious for my cerclage surgery. I knew what to expect, but I think no matter how many times you've had surgery, it's always slightly nerve racking + putting a baby's life (& pregnancy hormones) in the mix of it, makes all the emotions even stronger.

Duke spent the night at my parents house the night before since we had to be to the surgical center bright and early. It was our first night without him, and although I don't see him past 7 pm anyways, just the thought of not having him home was sad. I missed that sweet boy.

We checked into the hospital at 7 am sharp on Monday morning. I changed into my lovely gown + fluffy hospital socks (am I the only one who loves those?!). Blood was drawn, heart rate monitor was attached and the IV was inserted. I was ready to go!

I was much more relaxed this time around. Being wheeled into the operating room, I was joking with the nurses and didn't feel anxious at all. The sleep medicine was inserted through the IV, and a few deeps breaths later, while in mid-sentence, I was out cold (quite literally though, the room was like 60 degrees!). My last cerclage, I had a spinal tap and was wide awake during the whole surgery. Although I was completely numb, I could still feel pressure and see the tools the Dr was using, which was quite disturbing. So, to say I was so relieved when I got to sleep this time around would be an understatement!

About 45 minutes later, which felt like 30 seconds, I was waking up in a different room with different nurses. It took me a few minutes to realize what was going on and where I was... and then I realized how much pain I was in. The thing about being put to sleep, is I wasn't numb, so as soon as I woke up, I was feeling things I didn't want to feel. That quickly went away when the pain medicine kicked it. Then, all I could think about is the soonest I could eat. Not letting a pregnant woman eat is no joke. I hadn't eaten in 12 hours, and on a normal day, I can't go over 2 hours without throwing up! My sweet nurse gave me a blue popsicle to get some sugar in my system, and funny thing is, I've been craving them ever since!

I was wheeled into my recovery room where I met up with Chad. Life was pretty great at this point. Pain meds in my system, a successful surgery, and I'm reunited with my man. I was feeling good-to-go until I stood up to use the bathroom and almost passed out. I was worried I wasn't going to make it back to my bed in time! Pale and blurry vision, I crawled into my hospital bed and fell asleep. Luckily, all this pregnant mama needed was a little more sleep. A little shut eye + a Kneaders lunch that Chad picked up, made all of the difference and we were checking out before I knew it.

Overall, it was a great experience and I'm so grateful for Dr Jacobs for performing the surgery. I'm very hopeful in the stitch and crossing my fingers I can steer clear of bed rest this time around. Between my regular OBGYN and the maternal fetal medicine appointments, I'm being seen about once a week, which has made pregnancy fly by, plus, I love being able to listen/see baby more often!

I have my first cervix check since the surgery next week and I'm anxious to see if there's been any changes + I'm crossing my fingers we'll be able to definitely tell the gender! At my 12 week appointment, the high risk Dr gave a guess what she thinks it is, so I guess we'll see if she's correct!
