Matt's gift to me for Mother's Day was a surprise. He did good! He took Special K to Sears for a little photo session.

It's been a while...
Life has been crazy, as I'm sure it is for everyone, but I have found it basically impossible to find the time to blog!
I started back to work full time for tax season (Jan 1 - April 30), and quickly learned that tax season is hard, but with an infant, it is much harder!
I love my job, which helped, but I was pretty miserable being away from Special K so much. My friend Jess, who is his babysitter, helped me immensely, going out of her way to help me to spend as much time with him as possible. I would not have made it through without her.
I'm back to part time now, hooray! 3 days working a week is so much better. I love having so much more time to play with Special K (and occasionally do some housework).
It's funny, I had a checkup with our family doctor a week or so ago, and he asked me if being a mom was harder or easier than I thought it would be. I laughed! In most ways, it's about what I expected, except having to work and be a mom. I often find myself asking my mom how she did it, working part time.
It's almost my first Mother's Day, and I can't sleep...too many thoughts running around up there. I'm so amazed and grateful that my Heavenly Father has blessed me with such a sweet little soul. Special K is just "the cutest thing ever" (which is how we refer to him most of the time, his babysitter too!) He's such a happy boy, and has the funniest little personality blooming. It's amazing how much you can love such a little person.
Anyways, enough of my thoughts, here's some pics to try to catch up on what's been going on! Hard to believe Special K will be 8 months old next week!

Happy Halloween!
We had a great Halloween weekend. We spent Saturday evening at church for a chili cook-off, apple dessert contest, and trunk-or-treat.
Matt won second place in the chili cook-off, and I tied for first place in the apple dessert contest with my mom's dutch apple cheesecake recipe. Baby K slept through all of it, but looked pretty cute doing so!
Baby K is 7 weeks old today! It's crazy how fast the time has gone. I have to go back to work next week. =( It's only 3 days a week, and he'll be staying with a friend of ours (who is wonderful), but I'm pretty sad about it!

Playing catch up- weeks 2-5

My parents came to visit a week after K was born. We had a great time, and they definitely enjoyed spending time with their first grandchild!
2 weeks old- I love this face.

More Baby K pics
We're still doing great. Baby K has started to figure out his own little routine, which, thankfully, includes sleeping for 2-3 hours at a time at night. Matt and I are loving getting some sleep!

He's Here!
Born Monday, 9/13, at 1:09 pm! 7 lbs, 9 oz, 20 1/4 inches long.
We came home from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, and the 3 of us are doing great!
