Weird Car Names

The other day I was driving and the car in front of me was unlike one I have ever seen. It was called "Esteem". Really? A car named "Esteem????" So if I was

to drive this Suzuki Esteem than I would have an increase in SELF-esteem? Or would I ESTEEM myself above others? What is the goal for naming a car "Esteem?" And then I noticed the irony....There was a "1.8" beneath the "esteem" words. So then I was laughing. It is only a 1.8 -- and it is showing it off like that is cool!!! The poor driver. They must cry every time they drive the car. Well you know what? They didn't even have a license plate. ha ha ha. So this car kept getting better and better. It probably was stolen and they took the plates off. ;)

So this got me thinking.......I like cars. Not all cars though. But lot

s of different cars. And I realize that there are quite a few car names that are super strange. So the Suzuki created a car called "esteem", but if you don't need your Self-Esteem to be lifted than maybe you can drive a Ford Aspire....Or a Kia Soul to help you feel your "inner" self.

Or if you are feeling naughty you can find an old AMC Gremlin and cruise around in that.

And one of the worst names on the market now is the Prius. It sounds horrible when you say it out loud, An ugly design (unless you refuse to put on deodorant on more than twice a week and then you might like the design.) The only redeeming quality with the Prius is the amazing gas mileage. Too bad it can't have a solid sound system or something else of redemption though. But....at least it isn't named after a household chore......like the Plymouth Duster.

I did a quick Google search and according to Forbes, one of the worst car names is the Chevy Lumina. :( This makes me a tad bit sad because I drove that car for a few years. My "paint-peeling-one-hubcap-lumina." I ran that to the ground until the engine head cracked. Yep.

Lots of weird car names....but I guess at least they aren't Lipstick Names -- like "Pretty Please", "Girl About Town," "Lady Bug," "One of a Kind," or "Velvet Teddy." (and yes, those are REAL lipstick names...visit mac cosmetics.)

Burdens

One of my fav scriptures right now:
Mosiah 24:15
"...the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord."

It got me thinking....Should we pray to be strengthen instead of released from our burdens? Should we pray for both?

In this scripture, Alma and his people have some heavy-duty burdens they are experiencing. And when you continue to read you see that Heavenly Father knew they needed these burdens for their future escape. I'm impressed with their cheerfulness and patience duo that they displayed. Oh wow. They didn't know what their future held. They didn't know if these burdens were ever going to end. Sometimes I think life is soooo hard and then I take a step back and put it in perspective. Our Heavenly Father knows what he is doing and we need to have faith in His' Will for us. I need to go pray right now.

Women vs. Men in {buying shoes}

Have you noticed the difference when women shoe shop versus when men shoe shop? If you are a women you can go in alone to a shoe store/area and walk out with a new friend. I was at the ritzy high-end store Payless Shoesource and gripping a hot coupon. My debit card was crying out for me to spend money on another pair of shoes. My feet were leaping in anticipation for a new purchase. My logical corner in my mind was overpowered by this coupon I "needed" to use. I was browsing the one lone aisle of my shoe size and in walked a couple. She was just as intent as me looking for new shoes. In retrospect, I realized that the entire 14 minutes her and I shared the aisle of fake-leather smelling shoes that she hardly talked to her partner. Instead she chatted it up with me. I learned a lot about her. She was looking for a pair of white heels for her wedding dress. Her finance could have been sitting in the car for all she cared -- she was asking me for advice on the shoe choice. I was showing her my shoe options. We were instant friends. Now mind you she was littered with tattoos, wearing a super short skirt, pushing the 50 age zone, and sputtered many interesting phrases.....and yet we were bonded for those moments. I helped her pick out shoes for her important day.

Since then I have paid attention to my other recent interactions in shoe zones....those shoes just break the ice for a conversation starter. And yet I look in the men section and see these solitary men shoe shoppers in their own zone.....not breaking down the barriers. Hmph. All this shoe talk is making me want to go shoe shopping now......

Google Reader {rocks} my world

I adore Google Reader. It is always there for me with the latest updates of all the blogs I stalk -- I mean follow. Right this instance it is informing me that I have 180 unread posts! (gulp!) You people should stop posting!!! ;) Don't worry -- it was 1,073 a couple days ago...It is super simple to manage. If you don't already have a system in place for {blog stalking} I suggest you utilize this free service. Just google "google reader" and sign up! (the only downside is that you will need to create a gmail email account. painless, but a hoop to follow.)

And speaking of {blog stalking}, i have updated my fav blogs on this right-side column (the title called "...i stalk..."). I have my fav coupon blogs, fashion blogs, and random blogs that make me smile. What are your fav blogs currently?

Your Cell Phone is {RINGING}

Remember when a cell phone rang in sacrament meeting, or another quiet place, and we would all turn to see the perpetuator…now we barley even notice.

How come? Are we immune to the barrage of noise in our lives? Or is there something else we focus on? Or are we just use to it?

Garlic Breath?

I have the fortunate advantage of eating a tiny lil' bit of garlic and then reeking of garlicky smell for a long while. Oh lucky me huh? Well, look @ this nice fact I just learned about:

After eating garlic, drink milk.
drinking milk reduces the presence of the compounds that cause garlic breath by as much as 95%.
reported by a study in the Journal of Food Science.

So I guess Spaghetti Factory really does have something going when they serve you milk AND spumoni ice cream with all their meals.
