Have you ever felt like you really missed out?

That is how I felt yesterday. We attended the funeral of one of Dougs former co-workers. I remember Doug talking about this man alot, they had many biblical discussions. I also remember wanting to tell Doug that we should visit with this man and his family outside of work. Doug has never been one to friend co workers.. he tends to keep these things seperate, so though he considered the same thing, he would not allow himself to contact him outside of work.

We missed out. This mans funeral was blessed. It was beautiful and sad. It reminded me alot of my Daddys service just 3 months ago. I wish that I had followed what I felt I should do a few years ago and asked Doug to contact him outside of work.
I cann't even get over this feeling of how we missed out on something/someone who was supposed to be in our lives. I hope I do not let that happen again.

It's a new day.. A new Year..

Life is hard, it is full of ups and downs. 2010 was a down year for me. A year of Loss. I sure do not want to repeat that.

Sometimes we wind up walking down a path we had no intention to walk. Our path is lined with hurts and often those hurts veer us down a different path, the wrong path. It takes time and effort to get back on that path, but it can be done.

Happy 2011! May it be a year of Gain!

So I fail at blogging..

I start typing and can spend 30 minutes doing it and then I delete it all away. Probably not the best way to go about it. I still need to find that place in me that I know is there and begin writing. There are many moments in life each day that deserve to be written and I would love the memories to look back at later.

Favorite moments this week:

We got Direct Tv recently, first time either of my 9 and 4 yr olds have really seen commercials! My 4yo son, Seth, comes running in my room the other morning and says "Hi Mommy! Look for it now on DVD." I burst out laughing, that was hysterical.

The next moment was when hubby accidently called 9yo Stephen by the wrong name again and this time Stephen bursts out with "What do I need to do, label myself?"
That one had us all rolling for a few minutes.
Have to love the kiddos!

I failed miserably at some of my Christmas plans.. It just came and went so very fast this year! It seems it was that way for many people as our mailbox delivered just ONE Christmas card this year! We usually have at least 20. Of course mine did not get mailed either. I have this need for a family picture to add to my cards and could never pin my family down long enough to get one. I am a bum but yet I am still hoping to pin them all down soon!! We really need a new family picture :)

Missing Dad so much these days. It is still so unreal that he is gone from us. I see his face every where I go, still hear his voice.. hope to never lose that.

Day 3- Thankful for family

We have such a huge wonderful family. No, we are far from perfect and yes we have had our battles but when one of us needs something, they are right there. Our family has been such a blessing with the loss of Dad.. I cannot express what it meant to me the phone calls and visits and those who drove across country to be here to visit Dad before he passed away and those who came for his celebration service. My Dad was one of 16 children and he is the 7th to enter the presence of the Lord. There are still 9 here to bless us. And many cousins and 2nd cousins, etc and so on! I wouldnt trade them for anything!

Counting my blessings Day 2

Branch Of Wisdom

Today I am thankful for communication. My mom has always planned on going to live with my step brother in Texas after Dad passed away and she followed that plan. She called today and is settling in well already. My sis in law is taking good care of her, I am so thankful for that!!

Counting my blessings

Such a sweet idea by Tamara for the month leading up to Thanksgiving. I am going to start this Sunday by thanking God for the blessing of my Dad. He went to be with Jesus a week ago this morning and I am missing him sorely.. but I know that he is safe there and no doubt has already picked up on harp playing.. he was one of the best guitar players ever and he loved the sound of the harp. Thank you,Daddy for giving us the love of music and of the Lord.
