bedtime . . . sigh

What has happened to bedtime? For months it was so easy: 7:30 bath, story, eat, sleep. It took 45 minutes and Neal and had an hour and a half of peace and quiet before we went to sleep (uninterrupted by baby) until 6:00 am.

Then he got sick.

One night it took 3 hours - at least one of which was just screaming - to get him to sleep. Other nights (and nearly every nap) he just refuses to sleep. Bedtime has been pushed back to 9:00 to try to make sure he's really tired. But still. He just lays in his crib. Babbling or crying or coughing (that's the saddest).

I believe he's starting to feel better. But have we created bad habits I now have to break? Or will he revert to his simpler ways as soon as he's better?

This is my real point of telling you this: if you are the next person to get my baby sick, beware. Neal and I WILL exact revenge upon you in the worst possible way. I am not joking. Don't get my baby sick. At the very least, be prepared to move in and be responsible for getting the baby to sleep while I put in my earplugs, light some smelly candles and enjoy a nice, long bubble bath.

Santa made an early visit to our house to see if Gaius was a good boy. See that charming smile he made? Of course he's been a good boy!

They both posed so nicely for the many pictures I took.

He decided this past week that peek-a-boo is awesome. He even performed for the camera - and that's a miracle. Usually whenever I try to video something, he stops doing it.

reminiscing??

I don't know why, but memories are just flooding my little brain, and I've got to write them down. So, to all of you who weren't there and/or don't care, stop reading.

I was thinking about the few months I lived on Darwin in the Pink House with the dirty carpet, box elder bugs and squeaky ceiling. We made poor Kyle change so many light bulbs. Was that really his job? Or did he dislike it so much, that's why he came over one night and accused us of stealing his remote control? He even drew a detailed diagram of how he supposed we carried out the crime.

Then there was the mysterious night when instead of going to sleep, we stayed up and took pictures of each other as seen through a glass. I wonder where those pictures are now . . . if I can't find them, Emilie, promise me someday we'll get silly and take some more.

Remember that time Chelane killed Rowdy? (the cat, not the fish) That was gross. Poor Rowdy.

That's all I've got for now. I just don't think I ever wrote these things down, and I'd hate to forget! It wasn't a long time I lived in Logan, but I loved it. I would love to return someday. Maybe in 10 years we'll move there . . . not likely, but a girl can dream.

It's been a while since I posted. Nothing really has happened, except that I've taken cute pictures of Gaius. Thank goodness for digital pictures. As of today, I have 850 of Gaius on my computer. Not counting the hundreds my parents have taken. And speaking of parents: Thanks, Dad for the card reader. I finally used it today and discovered that it is MUCH faster to download my pictures with fire wire instead of the USB cord from the camera.

We didn't get him all dressed up for Halloween, but for some reason we did for the Utah vs. BYU game. I think Daddy's hat is a bit big for both of us.
They play so well together and give me a much needed break! Neal is such a good dad, and I'm so grateful for him.

See, he now has to have everything. He's getting better at sitting. He still tips over if left to himself, but he needs help less and less. So far he shows no interest at all in rolling from back to tummy, or crawling. I'm convinced that one day he's just going to stand up and walk. I haven't been able to get a picture, but he can hold himself up while grabbing something standing. He doesn't pull himself up, but he can balance just fine. (This new discovery helps entertain him for at least 2 minutes at church.)
We're working on the mohawk. I love the shadow in this picture.

Why do all the adorable photos come out so messed up? I tried to fix the redness, but it turned out to be too challenging for little old me. But what's with that face? I love it!
