Conference and Dogs

I got this text from my cousin on Saturday morning: "We are sitting watching conference and randomly (of course) Quince said 'Mom, when can we go to the circus again? Mere's dog is like a magical circus dog cause it can climb up that rock thing and slide down the slide.' Haha!"

This made me laugh. Q is referring to the day we were up at Wolf Creek and we played on the playground. Duke would jump up on the climbing rock and would run down the slide. He's got mad hops.

She truly is an addict. Applepus is the nickname given to Adrianne from DinoMonkey. Which is her variation of "Octopus", the name her cousin, Marc, would call AD.

Mission Accomplished

Last night was a Stake FHE, and it was an outdoor movie on one of those big blow-up screens. I thought it would be perfect to take Duke to. Plus, guys like dogs. Especially big dogs. And Duke is a stud. Not long after I found a spot and put blankets down, some of my friends from my ward were standing around talking with me, and a guy comes over and asks if anyone is sitting in the empty spot by me. He played with Duke and we ended up chatting for awhile. He has my number now. Score. Duke did his job.

Duke the Dog

DinoMonkey and Duke the Dog. They are best friends. DinoMonkey/Addie is my cousin's youngest child. She's 3, and she's stinkin' adorable. All of my cousins' kids are adorable. DinoMonkey was here the other weekend for Scott and Meagan's wedding. The day after she met Duke, all day she was saying "Duke the Dog". For several days, in fact. Just talking about him. Or asking when she could see him again. After the wedding reception we went up to Wolf Creek to finish off our weekend. DinoMonkey and Duke the Dog had some special one-on-one bonding outside as the rest of us were inside, sitting around the table looking out at them and just smiling and admiring how precious she is with him.

This picture is just before Duke and I were leaving. Addie got in the car and was just hanging out with him for a little longer.

I'm so glad AD is back in school. She doesn't text me when she's home for the summer.

Duke

Here's the new pup. He's pretty awesome. I adopted him from an animal shelter. Aunt Cal found him searching for adoptable dogs online, and she went to go see him. After I was done with work that day, I went down to see him for myself. I loved him, so I took him home with me! He's about 2 years old. It's pretty sweet to get an already trained dog.

It was pretty warm in the house the other day. Duke knows how to cool off.

Softball and I have a love/hate relationship

My ward got called last minute to fill a spot in the regional softball tournament last week. We played 6 games in two nights. We lost one game that we really should've won! But we pulled through on the rest to win the Consolation bracket. We had such a blast, but it definitely took us all the whole weekend to recover.

Jackson Hole

Two weeks ago my ward went to Jackson Hole for camping, hiking and rafting down the Snake River. It was a blast!

Our 1st Counselor didn't fare too well.

We went to the Tetons and hiked around Jenny Lake to Hidden Falls. It was absolutely gorgeous.

My Birthday at Work

My coworkers pretty much rock. They did an awesome job at decorating my cubicle. And the presents I got were awesome! They know me all too well.

I can't fall asleep. So I'm super tired when I wake up for work. Then I go home and take a nap because I can't function. Night time rolls around and I'm awake for a long time again. Such a vicious cycle.

Dad has been extremely spoiled with his new car that he got himself earlier this year. He drove AD's car today and texted her:

"Your car has big problems. Backup camera doesn't work. Cruise control will not slow down or break for traffic. Blind spot warning lights not functioning. And, no matter what I do, it won't talk to me. How do you drive this thing?"

"I know, I think it's time for a replacement." -AD

Mere: "I'm having a dilemma. I bought two different camping chairs from Walmart. I can't decide which one I like! I have them both set up in my living room and I keep moving from one to the other, but I can't make up my mind!"

Amanda: "That's hilarious."

Mere: "I figured you'd probably laugh at me. This is hard! I think I'll try again in the morning."

Amanda: "Yeah, best to sleep on big decisions like this."

Remember how I didn't post a single thing in 2010? Apparently I slept that whole year.
