(Not all of my classmates are in this picture... I LOVE these people so much. We survived nursing school together, we did it!!!!!)
My Nursing Philosophy:
If I were to
say that I chose nursing as a career and never looked back, I would be lying. I
had many doubts along the way but through my hard work and dedication I have
come to realize that being a nurse is my calling in life. I am committed to being
an advocate for my patient and I will continually learn to provide safe and
holistic care. I vow to always care for the person, not just the patient!
It's official, I AM A NURSE!!!!!!! I am a RN, but I'm not quite licensed yet. I still have to take the NCLEX (State licensing exam), but that will happen in the next 30 days or so. I have worked SO hard for this. Nursing School was the hardest thing I have ever done, but I love what I do. Graduation was such an amazing day, I graduated on Saturday, May 17th. It was everything that I hoped for, and more. I had soooo many people attend, I was honored. I'm still in shock, it hasn't quite hit me yet that I have my degree and my RN. I have been so overwhelmed the last few days at the amount of love people have shown me. I received countless cards, flowers, candy, gifts, visits, text messages, phone calls, etc. My heart is so full of gratitude that people would take time out of their life to celebrate with me. I couldn't have done this without all of the incredible people in my life. Graduation weekend was like Christmas... It was a HUGE celebration. I received so many wonderful gifts that it would take me all year to list them... but one in particular that I do have to mention... My best friend Caecee is unbelievable. I am in total shock over this gift, she did WAY too much but I love her for that! Drum roll please... We are going to Las Vegas to see Shania Twain. OH. MY. WORD. I LOVE Shania Twain, I used to be obsessed with her when I was little. We are going on June 7th. I am so excited!!!!!!! Me and my bestie partying it up in Las Vegas. WOW!!!!
A shout out to all of those who attended the traditional nursing pinning ceremony and graduation!!! I know it was boring, but it meant the world to me when I was up on stage being pinned as a NURSE to see all of your familiar faces in the audience. I feel so loved and so thankful!!!
The two scariest days of my life- 1. The day I started nursing school. 2. The day I graduated from nursing school... Haha. I am so terrified for the next step in life, but I am also so excited. Deep breath, lots of swear words, and one step at a time.
I will truly miss all of my classmates and professors. They became my family. I was with them almost everyday for 18 months and we have been through so much together. Divorces, marriages, death of family members, sickness, babies being born, etc. I love my class and my teachers. We will always have this special bond. I could have NEVER made it through nursing school without my classmates and certain teachers. They helped me keep going when I was ready to quit. We stay in touch on a regular basis, I just miss being in the classroom with them. This is a whole new world to me... the only thing I know how to do is be a student. So it will be interesting. Here we go on to the next adventure in life. I love my life!!!!!!
I think my favorite part of receiving all the love, was reading all of my cards people gave me. It's too personal to post on my blog, but thank you to those who wrote me such kind words.
Take a look below at the pictures from graduation...
My Family. Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Brother.
The BESTEST friends in the entire world who I love to the moon and back! Marcus, Me, Caecee, Zach.
Zach made me this beautiful wooden box with my name on it and "RN" (Registered Nurse) with the Caduceus Staff Medical Cross. I absolutely love this box!
Along with some money and a loving card, my Grandma stitched this little saying... and she knows me SO well, because that saying sounds exactly like me!
This picture is sideways... but nonetheless, this is a picture of my pin. This pin indicates that I am now a nurse. It is a real gold pin, it isn't a cheap little thing. I am very honored to have this. You have to be pinned by a nurse and this ceremony is very traditional and ritualistic. Some students were pinned by a family member that is a nurse, but I don't have any nurses in my family and I though there would be no one better than having one of my instructors pin me... because they have taught me everything I know and they lit that fire inside of me to love nursing for what it really is all about!!! We had the pinning ceremony the same day as graduation, just an hour prior. I loved the ceremony and I am so honored to receive this. I love it!!!!
This is what my front room in my house looks like right now... gifts everywhere! I love it!!! That wooden box that Zach made is chuck full of cards that I have received. SO much love!
I have more professors than this and I'm really bummed I didn't catch them for a photo, because I love all of them and they all deserve recognition. These ladies (even the ones not pictured) taught me everything I know, they are my heroes. They all have their masters degree and they have a lot of experience. They are AMAZING teachers!!!! I love them so much!!! Professor Erickson, Me, Professor Engebretson.
Blurry picture of me after I was pinned.
Blurry picture... Me being pinned.
Gosh dang it, I don't know why these pictures are showing up blurry on my blog because the originals aren't blurry at all but I don't have the computer patience to fix them right now... bummer.
Anyway, that is me and the great guy that I have been friends with for a long time and we recently started dating, his name is Marcus.
Zach (Caecee's husband, and one of my very best friends) also graduated this past weekend on Friday, May 16th. Zachary graduated from the Utah Valley University's Police Academy. YAY Zach!!! Me, Zach, Caecee.
Blurry again... GRRR! That picture is of Caecee and I at my graduation.
Me and some of my classmates at graduation. LOVE these peeps to peices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
