Ash Wednesday - Lent 2012 Begins
This Lent I'll be feasting on thankfulness and thoughtfulness, and I'll be fasting from 2 foods that seem to haunt me (the potato and dessert) and a form of technology that seems to be addictive for me (facebook.)
I am thankful for my relationship with the Lord, and I am so grateful that He has given me the blessing of being called "wife" by Matthew and "mommy" by William and Charlie (and Bella.)

We now have 2 boys and other updates...
I LOVE the idea of blogging; it feels refreshing to express what I am feeling, thinking, enjoying, hating, etc. But then I start to get stressed about keeping up with my blog and keeping it cute and relevant, etc. I tend to take blog updating off the "to do" list, and therefore a lot of time can pass between entries...last entry's subject was William's 2nd birthday and today's entry comes on the heel of me purchasing William's 3rd birthday invites. Time really does fly when you are having fun...and living with not one but TWO little boys.
Meet Charles Hampton Marks; we call him Charlie. He was born on July 29, 2011, and he is a LOVE BUG.
Big brother is pretty in love with little brother...most of the time.
The whole family (minus Bella) enjoying life.
I've thought about revitalizing the blog for Lent; an entry (or at least a picture) a day for 40 days...we'll see...it's a good goal and would be enjoyable to go back and read. Until then...happy web browsing.

Oh my goodness...
Oh my goodness, what will we do?
William Terry Marks is turning TWO!
William will be 2 years old on Sunday, and I cannot believe it. I get tears in my eyes thinking back two years ago to the awesome day he was born. He is such a blessing to me, to Matthew and to our entire family, and we are all TOO excited to celebrate him and his TWO years.
I love reading on other blogs what kiddos are up to at certain ages, so here's a look at what Master William is up to right now.
- He's just shy of 36 inches, and he weighs 30 lbs. We'll confirm his height and weight next week at the big 2 year old appointment. He's leaned out A TON over the past couple of months, and he looks like a little boy now...no longer a baby.
- He's got blondie blonde hair, darling blue eyes and big kissable lips.
- He's a pretty good eater; he has his favorites...ketchup, mac & cheese and cake. Ha! And he likes fruit and will eat a veggie here and there as long as there is milk offered as a reward.
- He talks up a storm, and most of the time we can understand all his words. This morning he stumped us with "downstairs" which sounded something like "dow-she," but we got it after some pointing and hand gesture help.
- He loves to "William running," "William walking," "William dancing," "William stepping" and anything else "William actively doing." On Wednesday mornings, we go to a tumble & play class, and he gets to practice all his active skills with his buddies.
- He loves to play basketball and any other sport with a ball. Really he just loves being OUTSIDE. He also loves bubbles; he calls all things bubble "bubble juice."
- He's found a little tv show he likes; oops! It's the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse; I think he likes the hotdog dance and all the characters. It's a great morning time routine b/c I can get breakfast made while he watches it...so I'll not worry too much about his brain rotting away.
- He's got a couple of pals he loves playing with; it is hilarious to watch them play. They are all learning the concepts of sharing, taking turns and even actually playing together.
- He likes reading stories. He goes to Mother's Day Out two days a week, and the teachers always talk about how much he loves to read the stories. Scholastic Books sent us a huge box of books when he was born, so he has been introduced to a random assortment of stories. His favorites include I LOVE TRUCKS, COMMOTION IN THE OCEAN and all of the flap books where he is introduced to new vocabulary words.
- He comes by his middle name "Terry" honestly; he is definitely the second generation of "Tidy Terry." A favorite toy is his Dirt Devil Vacuum. I only wish it really cleaned.
- He's independent. William would prefer to do all things for himself at all times. Sometimes it adds a little time to our activities, but if I can remain patient I am amazed at all the skills he is learning to do. Patience is most certainly a virtue.
- Lastly he loves his mommy, daddy, all his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, his baby brother, Charlie, on the way and Bella, his dog. That's right...you heard it here first...he LOVES Bella. She, however, is just tolerant of him. Ha!

Wye Mountain 2011
It's spring, it's pretty outside, and that means it is Wye Mountain time in Arkansas. Gorgeous field of yellow flowers once again this year, and we had a quick but nice visit this morning. William was not totally digging it, but we still got some amazing photos. Enjoy!

Snow Days 2011
I really enjoyed blogging. It was so fun to think of witty and interesting things to say, but I sort of thought my blogging efforts had lived their life and I moved on to other projects. But alas the snow hit Little Rock and hit again and has now hit again, and I find myself sequestered at home with my favorite little guy and my favorite little red monster (google that if you don't know of whom I speak)...and it's time to blog again.
For my first post back, an ode to snow...
Snow, snow, snow; it's white and is quickly covering my street.
The weather peeps were right this time, not the easiest feat.
The postman just passed; he's the only car I've spied today.
The snow might just last until march, april or may.
Good gravy, we have had lots of snow this year.
And that's my ode to snow...it's all I've got, my dear.
Creative, eh? And now, some pictures of William...he's much more entertaining than my odes.

Water Baby
It's summer, and William loves the water. He is digging his new bathtub, he enjoyed swim classes with mom in April and May and he loves the backyard pool. Beat the heat, and enjoy splish-splashing with William!

The Remaining Days of Lent
Santa's gonna put me on the naughty list b/c I fell off the wagon, but my remaining days of lent were spent being thankful for all the many, many family members I have. We were able to see many of them over the Easter weekend for both Easter celebrations and William's first birthday. A big kiss and hug to those of you who we did not get to see. I'll be posting this week a recap of William having fun turning one and enjoying Easter! Cheers to being thankful.
