Grafton got to go to his 1st Clemson football game this year!  We took him to Clemson vs. Auburn primarily because it was a noon game and this little guy cannot go nap-free.  Gray's parents always leave after halftime and my mom came along to help (as well as enjoy the game) so we figured it would work.  Grafton did pretty well and honestly about as well as any child his age could do.  He ate, played with acorns, saw the band march in, saw lots of balloons, and of course he got to see the most exciting 25 seconds in college football as well.....he saw the team run down the hill!  The noise didn't seem to bother him.  He was pretty fidgety so he tormented his Uncle Bryan a little too.  He had a great time though and it turned out to be a huge win!  Oh, and we got so lucky with the weather....most football Saturdays in September are pretty steamy, but that Saturday it started out in the 50s and got into the low 70s.  You can't ask for better football weather than that!  We were so thankful when we beat FL State the next week too because people kept teasing us that Grafton was a good luck charm and we'd need to bring him every week.......um, no.  It was a fun day, but mommy and daddy like some child-free time too!  What a great season Clemson is having this year!  Enjoying every minute!

Gwinnett Braves game

Grafton and I spent a weekend at my mom's while Gray was away for a guys' golf weekend at the end of August.  We took Grafton to a Gwinnett Braves game that Saturday night.  He had a great time!  Pops got him his first baseball glove and as you can tell it was all he could do to hold onto it.  Grafton (and lovey) even got to meet Chopper the Mascot!

Grafton is speaking in sentences and constantly surprising us with the things he has learned.  So, he says some pretty funny things that make us laugh and curious about how his little brain works.....

1. On the way home from Lamby and Pops house for Sunday night dinner......

Grafton: God turned the sun out!  Silly God! 

Grafton thinks of the sun like he does a light switch and the night before he was saying daddy turned the sun out, but mommy promptly corrected him!  We don't want him getting daddy and God confused!!!  LOL

2. On the way home from daycare the other day.....
me: (big yawn)
Grafton: mommy tired
me: Yup, mommy didn't sleep well last night.
Grafton: doggonit mommy!

Haha!  We won't mention who taught him that word, but he loves it.  Sometimes he just runs around the house yelling "doggonit."  I'm just glad he says that instead of some of the other things that have slipped out of our mouths!  :)

Family Pictures 2011

We had these family pictures taken at the beginning of August by Polly Gaillard Photography.  They were taken at the Rock Garden off of McDaniel Avenue.  We are really pleased as these pictures do not reflect the ordeal it was to try and get some decent shots.  I'm sure I've mentioned before, but Grafton does NOT like his picture taken and will actually turn away from the camera and even yell, "stop mommy!" when I try to take his picture.  He was the same way with Polly so all of these are thanks to our collaborative efforts in tricking him.  Eventually we gave up and decided to take some with just Gray and I and of course that's when Grafton decided he wanted to be a part too!

Grafton turns 2!

Happy 2nd Birthday to Grafton!  We celebrated all weekend long!  That Saturday we went to ATL to visit Nana and Pops while daddy played in a golf tournament.  Zach came with Grafton and I to join in a surprise party for Tom's 70th birthday.  Of course we had to celebrate Grafton's birthday a little bit too!  My mom was able to pull it off and I think Tom had a great time celebrating with friends and family.  Sunday we went to brunch and opened gifts before heading back to Greenville.  Grafton got a Tee Ball set, personalized book bag, personalized beach towel, some trucks, etc.  He loved playing Tee Ball and boy can he can whack it!  Sunday night we went to Lamby and Beback's house for some more celebrating.  Grafton opened more gifts there including a Clemson jersey from Unky Z, a Willy the Waterbug sprinkler from the Burgesses, a remote control airplane, a Home Depot toolbox, etc. from Lamby and Beback, and Tow "Mater" Power Wheels from mommy and daddy.  Grafton is still working on his driving skills, but he'll get it eventually!  He has trouble keeping the button pressed and steering at the same time.  I must say, I think his favorite gift was the Home Depot toolbox.  He loves to fix things!!!  We're still trying to figure out where he gets that from because it certainly isn't his daddy!  He didn't eat any cake (extremely picky eater), but loved blowing out the candles.  Poor Zach was the lighter and had to relight those candles a million times!  On Monday the 1st (his actual birthday) we sent cupcakes for his class to celebrate.  His teachers recommended we not come because they said when parents come, the kids just want to hang out with their parents and don't participate in the celebration, so we took their suggestion.  They did take some cute pictures though and sent them home to us.  By that night, Grafton was a complete disaster!  I think it was his worst night ever having tantrum after tantrum.  Too much birthday celebrating!!  I think that's a Berenstein Bears book?  Here are Grafton's 2 year old stats: 31 lbs. at the 90th percentile for weight and 35 1/4 inches tall at the 75th percentile for height.  He is a BIG boy!
