Until today i can't get in touch with the person who is holding all the equipment and thus that means i cant start yet. Delay for weeks d.. I just wanna scream

Anyway i read with interest about the Malaysian movie producers association's plan to propose that Hollywood movie tickets be increased to rm20. Apparently they think that the move will encourage movie goers to watch more local movies - _ -

Screw it man.. the thing that will happen is that everyone will either go download more movies from BT , streaming videos

DVD peddlers will be the most lucrative job in this economic environment

mixed events as i take a moment to ponder.

* the equipment i need to do my project just so happens to be in the trunk of the previous person who used it... and guess what.. she left the car in campus and went back to her home town. Turd... no progress till she comes back next mon.. arghh

* had no choice but to format my lap after brontok exhausted all my options. Its hard to run a scan when the system restarts the virus detects that you are running a scan -_ -

*Cant install office 07 because.. dunno why.. just kenot

* no exercise ever since footie... have to get active again... soon

*the geniuses at my hostel with their gung ho APEX $ decided to fit the rooms with new beds... They're longer so that means more comfort.

But on the downside..

They're longer.. and that means the bed by the door will be obstructing the door.




@#% measure 1st la...aiyo.. I trully appreciate the new bed.. but how am i going to arrange it?

I got an early Christmas present from some1... isn't that so sweet? She wasn't even sure if i celebrated but just bought me 1 anyway~ haha

The way i look at it, if we were to lose ourselves with all the things that could go wrong, we'll missed out on the simple moments that could just as easily make our day.

The land below

.. the wind or so its called but the most peculiar thing that i find about the place is that it gets dark real fast... 630pm is more like 730 pm

So the flight was delayed for 5hrs... following which the plane did not take off because of a security issue. Which meant we left at 130pm..and reached at 4pm at KK. And then was a taxi ride to Kudat for the 1st night at the luxurious Upper Deck hotel.

So the the whole day was spent sitting or waiting.
45mins from sentral to LCCT
2hr checking in
~ 1hr for security

5 hrs is alot to lose in a day seeing as we were heading east, so the 1st days plan was essentially delayed to the 2nd day ( today )


Things about Kudat to remember :

1. No traffic lights ( serious... there's no need for traffic lights because almost every intersection is controlled via round about )

2. Seafood is really good.. i mean really ( can forget tambun, mfm, fish and co..bla bla bla.. come here for the real seafood)

3. Tip of borneo ( go check it out.. a must visit because its just breath taking )

Tonight i'm at Akinabalu youth hostel.. pretty decent place with free internet, hot shower and nice ambience.The trip back from kudat is freaky.. don't travel at night if you can help it @.@

First i have to say sorry to those who tried to reach me on my maxis number for the past week as my line was inactive due to some mix-up on the part of maxis. I wanted to switch to prepaid so i went to the Maxis centre at QB, where they gave me a replacement sim which i was supposed to insert once the old sim card was inactive.

So i went on my business and noticed that my line had become inactive so i inserted the new sim. And nothing happened, biasalah i thought.. maybe its the system. So i waited... sunday.. inactive... monday inactive... tuesday inactive...

So i went down to the local Maxis dealer at PB.. a typical ah beng employee dude.. who said he couldn't help me so i asked him what should i do now... he sad he dunno.. ***? Maxis centre also can't help me?

Wah.. beh tahan.. Called up the Maxis CS who supposedly is an award winning call centre had to redirect me to another call centre. And the 2nd CS directed me to a third... @.@

Luckily the 3rd person whom i spoke to at least had some knowledge of what was happening and told me it usually takes 3 days to activate the sim. Fine.. at least finally someone said something that was actually informative.

So Wed came...and passed

So did Thu...

And Fri... and Sat...

So i finally got it done at the same Maxis centre in QB...now its up and running again~ ~




Things i learnt :

1. Maxis PB..sigh at least train your staff to handle customers better abit can?

2.Maxis CS.. don't so blur can?

3. Maxis QB.. if you did your job in the 1st place... no one would have found out how incompetent the other staff at maxis were!


p.s.. thanks to a certain Getha who at least knew what the problem was.. you should get a raise :P.. and also stop working for maxis

For example.. S showed me a pic of a napkin and a butter knife and asked " what do see in this picture? " people like this.... should get a life :P

Haha..just kiddin S, but it made me wonder..what pushes a person into photography? At the top of my head i can think of 5 friends that i personally know that owns a DSLR and it takes passion to get into the commitment of splurging for a camera ( or maybe not since the entry level is just a few hundred more than a top range compact )

If you are a DSLR owner... could you tell me what was the tipping factor that made you decide " ah yes... its time to spend a months salary for a camera "

Oh ya... the economy is in a great shape now with us Malaysians who pump petrol cos we are actually paying the gahmehn ( at time of writing ) :p

In this club

while most others would be grooving to Ayer Ay Ayer i'm still stuck on the song ' love in this club' la. Recently a good friend of mine posted this question " when was the last time you did something for the first time "

So i asked him back the same question... and he can't answer~ hahaha

But back to the topic, i went to Oktoberfest for the 1st time about 2 weeks ago and it was great.. barring the fact that there was a rm25 cover charge but it was all worth it for the entertainment by the live german band ( and of course the free flow of beer )

The food was not that expensive at rm18 a pop u get ham,saukraut ( some pickle vege ), mash potato and potato salad!! Not forgetting there 3 types of sausages to choose from veal, chicken & pork and the white sausage. And of course the german beer which costs rm25 ( the cheapest i think ) was something new.

If i could condense the experience it would be this :

Top 3 things i experienced:

1. Authentic German Food
2. Authentic live music ( man..these guys are hardcore party-goers)
3. Men that join beer drinking competition have no body hair

Top 2 things i missed doing:

1. Jello Shots ( darn the cover charge )
2. Joining the drinking competition ( my manliness qould have prevented me from qualifying )

Top thing i learnt:

Never let friends drink after they've puked.... they'll just keep on puking.... on the grass..... in the bathroom...

Be a good friend...and finish up that drink for your friend~

I was checking my mail this morning and I a mail from friendster. ( remember friendster? the site before facebook and myspace? no? oh well... i must be getting old then )

So anyway, i clicked it and it said i had a comment on my old blog at frienster so i was thinking

Even me myself couldn't remember what i wrote so many moons ago lar...

So i revisited my old blog and started to read the post, and it occurred to me that " wah.. this fellow writing not bad huh " cuz it didn't seem like me at all. Better prose. Better composition. Cannot be me la.
( ok ok.. after typing this last paragraph, it really seems quite self absorbed rite? :P )

The funny thing is the the comment was left by a certain lynninsurance so i was trying to count all the lynn ( yes.. with double N ) that i knew and i could only come up with TTCL.

In the article it says the he is a certified baker from a Cordon Bleu academy.. geng rite. Imagine what could have been going across his mind during his time in Manchester that made him go.. " hmm.. maybe today i'll go learn how to bake "

In any case it's great that we had our own lil bakery at SXI and all those times rushing for the buns before they were sold out. haha

Anyway hats off to the brothers who were committed in giving education to all without prejudice.

Wow.. its be a busy week.

Had a panel discussion and hopefully i aced it cuz  really wasn't smooth at all but anyway was more preoccupied with worship leading for the CF later that night.

I guess after all i still prefer to play the guitar haha.. perhaps the next tiem will be singing with the guitar?

This recently concluded season has been a real thought provoker as i attended 3 days of USM convo i realized that i'm getting old and the rest of my friends are moving on to the next phase of their lives. Literally

A few years ago the question would be " So who has started working ? "

This year was " Who else still never grad ? " or

" Eh where this fella working d? "

For some would be " who's getting married ? " :P

Yups.. here's a big cheer to all who just convo-ed!

Long time no see

Today marks the 1st day of my arrival as a Final Year student.. to which the Uni finally set up a real online registration for courses.

Yes.. a real online registration..

One might ask.. " hmm.. what is a fake online registration then? got meh ? "

Yes..got fake 1...


Fake 1 is like this... you go line up at the the school , fill up forms , run around for signature , run around some more.. then only line up again at office to go online... ( dalam talian )

Now the system is super efficient... if i didn't come back today also can haha. Currently i'm in limbo between the aftermath of working life and the study life that is to come so for now... its just a state of blurness and bliss..

Just because things didn't turn out the way we want doesn't mean thing we're not going to enjoy the alternative.

What a memorable CL Final.... no regrets having to wake up at 3am and rushing to Khaleel and having to share the table with not 1 but 2 heavy smoking, chain-wearing machas.

I reached only to see that Ron had put MU ahead with a header.. nvm.. still got plenty of time.
End to end action but it should have been Chelsea's victory. Drog and Lamp hit the post lagi.... wah.. kin cheong man.

Rolling back the days

It has been a long time since i felt the familiar Saturday feeling, kind of ironic since today isn't Saturday but a Monday.

I've no regrets taking leave just to play footie and meet up with some friends who i haven't seen in a while. Friends who work at AMD la.. some who just graduated la.. friends who have already been working for 2 years la.

At this point in our lives we are at a crossroad and it's always good to meet up before we're too far down our own individual path =)

Rainbow

For the longest time a rainbow hasn't moved me much till a recent development. Someone asked me what it means when you see a rainbow.

I haven't really given it much thought but since that question was popped, i quickly ran through to Gen 9. God made a promise never to flood the earth again to that magnitude and blessed Noah and his family.

I seldom think that a rainbow means that much but on this particular event, i thank God that he sent a rainbow to remind us that He is in control =)

At this point i realize that even though i still have LI to look forward to, most from my batch would have been done with their thesis and vivas. I stop and stare at the fact..

Last night had a CG farewell dinner for KMun with a special guest of the night Pui Mun who came from the island.

Went to Roxbury, which is not a bad place to eat. The prices for main course is about 15-25 or so.
The only disappointment was that my cheese steak didn't exactly look like a steak.. It was more like a sandwich. The ice lemon tea is worth ordering cos it came in a jar instead of a glass.

Study week

This week is study week...and i'm doing pretty much everything but study. After handing up the projects, i felt like going into the holiday mood and after 4 days.. i still feel the same.

Have you guys heard of the Sufiah Yusof case? The 1 about the former child genius that was accepted into Oxford at 13... and recently exposed for offer herself as an ' asian escort ' for £130.

Sad case la... for all her brain power, something went terribly wrong and she got on the road to self destruction. I guess her gift was her curse after all.. i wonder what its like for her..
Maybe all she wanted is for a normal life.. a life without the expectations and all the eyes looking at her to perform heh..

Anyway

Over the weekend i was in Kulim for fellowship with the youth at Wesley Methodist. Had alot of food and alot of fun. It was a tiring day as i had a viva on Saturday morning and left directly after that to have lunch at Lunas. Following which , we practiced the whole day until 530.

Had a shower and quick dinner then left for the service. Overall had plenty of fun la. The skit " everything" was the proof of how good we are at improvisation =) it all seemed so natural for us.

Eventful..

The past week has been an eventful week...3 designs to pass up, lab reports, AGM / farewell.. all before the end of the week.

This week we bade farewell to those graduating seniors who were about to leave their Uni lives for a more hectic pace as they join the rat race.. Some have found jobs, some have found opportunities and others have found their better halves :P

Was a great farewell.. mainly due to the bountiful food that was on the menu that night. Haven't had that much cheezles in a loooong time. Intro-ed a new way of eating chips to YS and J. Haha.. hope you guys like it.... Dip it!!

For that 1 Wednesday night i put my design away from my mind as i went to CF to have a good time of fellowship. Honestly saying... this year's farewell was a bit on the cheerful side.. what with a long lost visitor coming back.

Yes..it was a hectic Easter weekend but i arrived in paradise abit earlier.... on wed night to be exact.A few of the PKA people joined us for our Bible Quiz.. was in the same group as LY, Esmo and KM.. lolz.After the get-together with the PKA CF-ers ( wait... is that redundant? ) ,
got on a car and headed back home.

Saturday, called up a few contacts.. seeems the everyone didn't know about the dateline being on monday. Ignorance is bliss i say. Went for Easter confrence instead. Changed the ticket date to Sunday. Thank God i was able to do so.

Was thankful i didn't go back on sat night... the message was great and thought provoking. Jesus didn't save us to be slaves... but to have the choice of freedom or slavery. Let me ask you guys the question that the speaker asked. Sobering indeed.

Today i finally have the time to type out a post. Has been a hectic past few days but for now i get to breathe a bit. This week not sure if wanna go back on wed or not.. Tempted to.

I lost my bike..... but have been eying an abandoned bike as a possible candidate. Just need to get a lock and register the bike.

The overall feel over the past weeks have been one of transition. Had dinner with YK a few weeks ago and he concurred. In the confusion and the aftermath of the GE12, the CF committee had met to discuss the handing over of power to new faces ( more or less la )

It feels weird since i will be retiring from office. Haha.. no back door senatorial role for me. Will it be the end of my service? or will there be a last hurrah? It's out of my hands.

Just last night was chatting with meng... he also sien of Civil liao, even before we go to work. I agreed.. haha.. i'm also feeling a bit sien. Sell hokkien mee better, he says.

The unprecedented results of GE12 has been commented to death and all the talks of the postmortem for those who failed big time and restructuring of those surviving.

Penang is finally on the rocket and is headed for the stars~The voice of the silent majority or the silenced majority has been heard.

1st comes the courting and wooing.. and now is time for the delivering.

What changes will 5 years bring?
A vibrant economy with no attached strings?
Its time those who we elected get down to business and change.

Its time to wrap up the GE12 feel. Time to work~ makkal sakti!

Hmm last day of campaigning and ceramah. Both sides will be all out for this final push.

As for the voters? Hmm if by now you're still undecided.. better choose soon.

Remember its an X and not a tick. Choose on the issues you believe in and what your representative can do on your behalf.

Actually i find both sides also have pros and cons la.. Don't oppose just to oppose.. and don't just follow because don't want to rock the boat. Healthy check and balance is always good.

Will there be more 'angkasawan' this time around? Will the Scales tip to 1 side?

3 more days till voting and the EC ( erection commission ) said they will not use the Indelible ink they have purchased citing that some party has managed to obtain it illegally.

This raised fears that people might go paint voters' fingers and disqualify them from voting. The scandal continues....

Some people claim that this has been such a farce and a hit to fairer and cleaner erections.

Some people claim that other people bought the ink to reduce the stronghold that the 1st group of people has.

What does the EC say?
Cannot use the ink la...these people manage to obtain it illegally and can tamper with our polling.

This sounds abit lame.. but the next piece takes the cake :

Rainy season

The rainy season is upon us again and really beh tahan cos i just don't feel likw getting up when the sky outside is so gray and the warmth of the blanket is so comforting.

Amazingly, i've been skipping my afternoon naps despite this nice weather. Work has been calling and datelines that seemed far away are now speeding past. Arghh i slept at 5am today and woke up just in time to go for a test.... which wasn't really a test after all.

As far as i know i have 2 assignments due this week.. trouble is I'm not sure what subjects have assignment. ||o.o||
Anyway...

About a month ago, i pondered over the question if a girl would look less attractive if she got attached.

I wanted to know what the readers think and the results that i got back are rather surprising. first i have to make several assumptions which might or might not be correct.

#1 : Voters have received a secondary level education at the very least
#2 : Voters are mentally capable of understanding the question
# 3 : All voters voted once

Somehow or other, only 3 people actually answered what i was pondering. It's actually a very interesting discovery to find that out of 12, only 3 people fulfilled the 3 assumptions i made.
Only 3 voters have received a secondary level education and above, are mentally capable of understanding the question and that they voted once each.

A combined 66% of people thought i was either sexist or was forced to vote. People so readily label others as a ' something-ist' because its just so easy to pigeon-hole characters. the question isn't a sexist question, its the reader's perception of the question that led to me being called a 'sexist'

If i am a sexist for asking the question. Then anyone who has asked the question " is he/she beautiful/handsome? " deserves the same label. I'm not too sure about this, but i'd take a bold guess to say that the world has suddenly added a few more sexist by then end of this sentence.

To be a purist, i would have to say that the feedback i got and answer to this question would be an unequivocal YES! ( 2-1 ) : A woman does look less attractive if she's attached.

Did i just insult my readers? :p

I swung over to thestar online and checked it out.

Wah~ really got earth quake. 6.6 on the Richter scale struck off Indonesia's Aceh.
U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was 7.5 magnitude and occurred at a depth of 34 km.

I'm dumbfounded.. everytime got earthquake also i don't feel 1 geh.. how come ar?
Today i was on the 1st floor.. my friend also wud... how come ar?

Alas... even the tragic 26th Dec Tsunami inducing quake also i didn't feel d.. maybe i'm not sensitive enough la.

Tropa De Elite

The movie, set in 1997, depicts the story of Captain Nascimento, a BOPE captain, who with the imminent birth of his first child, is determined to leave the battalion and find a safer position for the sake of his family, but first he must find a suitable replacement for him.

At the same time, the movie focuses on two childhood friends, Matias and Neto, who become cadets in the military police, but become dismayed at the corruption surrounding them.

Eventually, both Nascimento and the cadets' paths intersect, when the captain hopes that one of the two may become the substitute he is eager to find, as both decide to join the BOPE.

Just finished watching this movie and i must give it 2 thumbs up. Its the 1st Foreign Film (Brazilian) for me this year and i must say that even without understanding some of the subplots ( due to missing subs ), the message of the story is not lost and even when the subs were wrong you could still get the gist of the movie thanks to the great all round performances by the cast.

Go watch it if you have the chance. Its not supposed to be released in US yet.. only out in Brazil

So i was in the jungle once again like i always am, when suddenly i spotted the unicorn just having a sip by the refreshing stream.

I caught up with it and asked :

" wah..not bad wor.. but i wonder how it got leaked out la.. you better be careful ar.. if you got.. better fast fast delete. Can kena tangkap geh "

" I heard a few leh...."

At that moment, a little squirrel joined us for a breather and a sip at this stream.
The squirrel said :

" eh you oso know bout it ar? i also heard a few theories behind the case la "

So the unicorn asked

This week I've been very busy with the usual stuff that a student is supposed to be busy with.

On Monday night, it seemed as if the rest of the week was going to be tough on me but yet again i feel like everything is going to work out after all.

I still have a viva, presentation ( both of which should have been settled on Tuesday ) lab reports,assignments and what not.

On the top of my list is about Saturday night. I'm going to do something which I've never attempted before. I should be feeling anxious.

But I'm feeling pumped.. in a good way i guess.

I guess there's nothing better than feeling alive when you've got all this stress keeping you on your toes.

Fields of Despair

In a place not unlike our own with people not unlike ours, a group of people went for a game involving feet and a ball. For simplicity, lets call this group of people HL. This group went down to the fields and wanted to start playing when suddenly...

Another group ask this group HL to leave the field and shift to another field just behind. Being there 1st,the HLs didn't want to leave and asked the other group of invaders to shift. For simplicity sake, lets call this group CL.

So the CLs said that they played at the field everyday and it was theirs to use. Like this how to settle??

The HL come to the field 1st, but the CL ask the HL to leave because they use the field everyday. So this means that they ( CL) have the right to use the field.

Wow..

I didn't know that just because you use a PUBLIC PLACE regularly means you have the right to chase people away. If like that, i can chase someone out of a particular toilet cubicle because i use it everyday?

So one of the HL decided : screw it! Standoff with the CL la.. we use half the field, they use half.

Great idea but for the fact that the CLs had more people and their numbers grew by the moment. The HLs had no choice but to back down and play somewhere else.
