Locked Out Take 2

That's right...I managed to get locked out of the house again (read the post below this one for the first time)! On Tuesday I was trying to get caught up on loads and loads of laundry before the Christmas Eve/Day craziness started and after planting Isaac in the living room in front of the TV and securing Kadyn in her high chair I went to get started. After taking the first load down I returned to the back door to find that it was locked. I instantly ran to the front door...which too was locked (with the "hide a key" inside the entry way). So Annie and I again ventured to the neighbors, this time I had clothes on, but it was sleeting so it wasn't very enjoyable. After no answer from our neighbors house I figured if I banged on the door and yelled "Isaac" loud enough he would eventually come unlock the door, but after beating on it repeatedly it opened on it's own. I'm not sure if it just wasn't fully latched or if God helped me out some, either way I made in back in safely. After telling Jason about the day we decided that having a key actually on the outside of the house was probably a good idea too!!!

The Long Morning

The day started off much like all the others, the kids waking up earlier than Jason and I want to be and us squeaking out the last few minutes of sleep. This morning Jason was off to work and Isaac wanted to stand on the step and wave goodbye. Me, being the energy efficient mom that I am pulled the door closed only to find that once Jason was down the road the door was locked. Last time this happened (yes there was a last time) Jason was taking the trash out before actually leaving so I ran to the back alley to catch him. This time we weren't' so lucky. So wearing only my hot pink robe and some socks I ran across the street in search of someone at home so I could call Jason and have him come back. This whole time I made Isaac (who was in his PJ's and socks) sit on the step of the entry way. After one no answer across the street, the second door was the winner. The guy let me in to use his phone and after I dialed I went back outside to see a bus coming around the corning and Isaac not where I had left him. I ran in all my hot pink glory across the street to find Isaac standing on the sidewalk crying. When I picked him up he informed me that he was "scaring the bus momma." My child's life flashed before my eyes! Jason returned home to inform me that he had in fact hid a key after our last incident....only forgetting to tell me!! The whole time Kadyn was strapped in her high chair loving life! The kicker, at about 10 I went to let Annie out the back door to find that when Jason had gone to switch laundry earlier that morning he had left the door unlocked...that's right, the back door was unlocked the entire time!!!

Another Christmas, another fabulous opportunity to get the kids picture taken with Santa. For those of you that are new to our lives let me catch you up on the drama associated with Santa pics. Last year we went to KC the weekend before Christmas, I insisted that Isaac get his picture taken with Santa so we went to the mall on the Saturday before Christmas to stand in line for 2 hours for a picture of Isaac screaming his head off sitting on Santa's lap (see last years picture)....and if Jason and I could scream and it be "okay" culturally we would have been too. So this year we got it done early, but as you can see the results weren't much better. No, there is no screaming, but where is the enthusiasm?? Kadyn should be excited she is getting her picture taken for the first time in such a beautiful girly dress, but we couldn't get her to smile to save our life. And Isaac just sat there with the promise of getting a cookie when he was done. Maybe next year....

Christmas in KC

Baby Jonah

Last weekend we ventured across the state to celebrate Christmas in KC. As always it was a good, but exhausting time. We finally got to meet baby Jonah and he is so beautiful!! We got to see all of Grammy's side of the family on Friday night when we went to Dillon and Nikki's wedding (Jason's cousin). I had my first experience of sympathy heart-ache for Isaac when he asked the flower girl to dance with him multiple times and got rejected every time!! Kadyn wore her first "girly" dress, complete with black patent leather shoes. We didn't get any pictures, but will be getting some once I get the carrot colored spit-up off the front of it!!! We also had family pics taken on Saturday morning so here are a few of them. We also got to see Grandma Magers for dinner on Saturday night. The Christmas craziness has started, good luck to everyone and remember that it doesn't matter to Jesus if you don't make it to EVERY possible Christmas party!

The Joy of Vacuuming

Isaac loves the vacuum, so much that Grammy got him one for Christmas last year that is the same brand as ours. We're not sure why he loves it so much, it's probably the mystery of it because it only comes out in rare appearances at our house. Well sometime today he snatched the muffin that he had started to eat for breakfast off the table and took it to his bedroom. One would think that after the penny incident (we didn't know he had a penny in his room when he went to lay down for his nap and when we went in after he woke up he had written "letters" all over the walls with the edge of the penny) I would be more aware of what was in his room....but I guess not. Today when I went into his room there was a smashed muffin all over his floor. So he got to vacuum it all up, not really a punishment in his eyes, but at least I didn't have to do it! He's moved onto the hallway now, I'm hoping to get the whole house done at some point today! The joys of having children!

6 months

Kadyn is six months old this week and the time has flown by. She is sitting up pretty well, as long as, her favorite toy (aka Annie) doesn't run by. By the time Kadyn has dove to try to touch her she's long gone. Vegetables are one of her new favorite things, she eats really well. Last night Jason wondered if her and Isaac were really related because everything so far has been easier this time around, except sleeping through the night. She has done that one time and it was when I was working....go figure! Isaac has been sick this week. We had our first bought of vomiting, it wasn't fun, but I think we are over it finally and so far everyone else has avoided it. Jason is gearing up for the holiday season at church and there's nothing new in my world. We are having my parents up this weekend and then going to Kansas City next weekend. We are excited to see everyone. Have a great Thanksgiving!

After spending time carving one pumpkin (and eating the roasted pumpkin seeds), we had a craving for more. We went to Eckerts (a huge farm where you can pick your own produce) on the coldest day of the year so far and picked out three more pumpkins and some apples. Isaac picked out a pumpkin for Kadyn and himself, he had fun running all around. For Halloween we went to Jeff and Erin's neighborhood for a block party and trick-or-treating. They had a fire truck there and Isaac enjoyed climbing all around. Kadyn stayed awake long enough to make an appearance and eat, then she fell asleep in Jason's arms and stayed that way most of the night. Thanks to the Mill's family for sharing the costumes, they were both a big hit. Isaac had to be wooed with the idea of getting candy in order to get him into the costume and we had to practice at home for him to figure it out. When we were trick-or-treating he didn't care too much about the candy, but really just wanted to go inside each house. We had lots of fun.

Isn't fall the best...except for the wet yucky leaves (Jason's least favorite part) and the cold days/nights (which are even worse than last year so far since we don't have a working heater currently)!! Last weekend Mimi and Grandad came up for a visit and brought with them a pumpkin to be carved and sugar cookies to icing. While the intentions were great, we found that the adults ended up doing most of the work while Isaac just tried to eat all the icing and didn't like getting his hands messy in the pumpkin. We ended up with a great looking pumpkin and not a lot of extra cookies after the motto of "eat on, icing one, eat one, icing one" began. Isaac was showing off his knowledge of colors by telling us which color of icing he wanted to eat next. Surprisingly enough he didn't have a tummy ache at the end of the day. On Sunday while Jason was at church we ventured to the park to play on the playground and feed the ducks. Grandad and Mimi got to go all over the place while mom took advantage of someone else being there to follow Isaac around. Kadyn, in her usual low maintenance self, just hung out and took it all in. Last weekend was Kadyn's first camping trip. We decided to be brave this year and have both kids in the tent. They did great, except for 45 minutes between 4am and 445am. Then they both wanted to be up playing. The weather was great. We didn't do much except sit around the fire and push Isaac around and around and around on his trike (thanks Uncle Nate/Auntie DD for that wonderful gift, just remember paybacks are you know what!!) Jason, Kadyn, and I came home on Sunday night and Isaac stayed with Pat and Claudia until Tuesday. They had a great time and continued to put miles on Isaac's bike. When I put Isaac to bed tonight he asked to sleep in his sleeping bag, so I think camping was a hit since he was old enough to really enjoy it, unlike the last two years... I sure hope so since as you can see the new tent we bought this year has some room to grow!

It seems as though I have fallen prey to the peer pressure of not having a blog or at least I want to feel cool and be able to say "yes, we have a blog."
