a glimpse of my boy's joys

Ah.  Can I just say I love one year olds?? And this little one year old Winston is just over the top with gushing sweetness. So silly and fun.

Can I just give you a glimpse of this kid's silliness? A sure way to totally delight this little fella is by letting him touch the light fixture cords that you pull to turn on. We don't get why he loves it so much, but he does.  He just swats them and jingles them and smiles and giggles hysterically.

He loves it so much that he always points upward towards them every time he sees them just begs to have us hold him up to touch it. The problem is that I'm way to short to be able indulge him. Jess is the one that does it... and now he is taking ALL the brownie points with Winston. Daddy is always the favorite around here. It's ok, I'm over it.

***********

I showed Hyrum how to play the matching game and every time he got a match (or even when I got matches) he totally light up and squealed with utter excitement. He might have been entertained by the game, but, boy, was I definitely entertained by him.

Winston takes his first steps and other kid tidbits

This week my little one year old took the challenge of taking his first steps.  Well. I might have encouraged him with some chocolately goodness, but he did it nonetheless.  I noticed him standing on his own quite a bit. I figured he just need a little motivational nudge so I got some chocolate and lurked him and before you know it he was walking! Food is a big motivator around here because that how I encouraged Hyrum to finally take his first steps.

All my boys!  They are so crazy about their daddy.  Seriously, they both prefer him over me. How could they not!  He is their jungle gym and ride among so many other things!

This is the cutest ever. We were blessing the food and with out us ever prompting him we glanced over and he was folding his arms to join us! I almost died of adorable overload. sorry. My kid, ok!

Growing up.

Can you believe that my little Hyrum is not only in sunbeams but he's given his first talk in primary?  It was cute and sweet with his little Hyrum voice, his distracted 3 year old self and his slow and timid interpretation of the words that were whispered in his ear.

Channeling a desire to express...

That little boy Hyrum has had some interesting artistic impulses lately. Despite our greatest efforts to discourage him from wall graffiti in our home, sometimes he gets bored and sometimes there is a writing utensil near by and sometimes parents are not looking...

Hard to see in the picture but a generous amount of scribbling went on here, luckily it was pencil.

This time it was red crayon, a bit more challenging.

Even fridges get their share of artwork.  Dad had him scrub down as much of his diligent markings as he could.

Mom tried to encourage other type of artistic endeavors the days following.

I was so happy with all the hard work he put into his painting that
I framed it and hung it in my living room. I'm also hoping he'll be so happy to see his artwork on paper hung on the wall (and not directly on walls) and want to continue that habit.

A glance into a 3 year old mind.

Three year olds can have some pretty hilarious thought processes and Hyrum is definitely no exception.
Other day he was crying about something and I said, where does it hurt. He said, "It hurts on my lap"  I kissed where I thought he figured his 'lap' would be. He replied, "no, right here" and it was underneath his thigh. I've noticed that "laps" are his new words for "legs". Make sense, I guess.

My aunt said that while driving with him he would comment on the traffic lights. "Red means stop, green means go. Green Go, my daddy is a green-go."
"I couldn't stop laughing," she said.

HHHHelloooooooooo?!

Is anybody out there?  this place has been so abandoned that I pity the soul that lingers in hopes of a post or something. Ok. enough of this ghost town blog! Gonna clean up the cobwebs and sweep up the dust and gonna post pics and ramble about life once more!

Yes, it has been a while and I could start off where I left off in...ahhh! May?? Summer, fall, halloween, thanksgiving...agh... don't worry, I WILL catch up with those when I have time...you know, that illusive future abundant of free time...

Anywhos, I'll just post a pic of the littles so you can see how much they've grown and a snippets of somethings that happened recently, alright? Baby steps!

Awww.  A picture of Hyrum being sweet to his brother! It's tough sharing the attention with a new bro (when the world revolved around you before then) so moments of kisses and gentleness are rare and very cherished around here!

We haven't had much snow around here, only like two snow falls. I swear our first snow fall it kept coming down for 2 straight days! It was right when all the leaves where turing and the color contrast against the snow was delicousness to the eyes, so pretty!

Ok. I just LOVE this picture! That smile just melts my heart into mushy mush mush. This kid is so bubbly and smiley and laughy, and giggly and tickled with delight by the simplest things, eee, just want to eat him thinking about it.

So, the other day I was rolling out some dough for some pie and I thought it would be fun if I had Hyrum help out. I gave him the rolling pin and showed him how to do it.  I thought this would buy me a minute to tend the baby check the recipe on my computer. When I returned he excitedly said to me, "I'm Making pie!" i had forgot the flour was within reach. He had generously spread it all over the table, his clothes, the flour, everywhere.  I tried not to laugh.
