Kiwi Lane Blog Hop

I received the Celebrate templates to work with.  My creative gears started to turn as soon as I had them in my hands.  The possibilities are endless as to what you can create with them.

The first thing I made was a layout about my husband's recent college graduation and new job.

I used Celebrate 1,2,3 and 8

I used #8 under the photo and #3 reminded me of a ticket, so I used it behind the photo as a "ticket to success".  Celebrate 1 and 2 look like balloons and are two different sizes, so I decided to cut off the bottom, add a stripe to the middle, layer the two sizes and make a hot air balloon.  Then I drew in a basket and strings to finish it off.

Next, I wanted to make a shadow box project for my daughter's room.

I used Celebrate 5 to make a cloud out of white felt and with 6 different ribbons, I folded each to make my rainbow.

Now I have a cute display for my daughter's bedroom!

Mother's Day

I had fun with my latest page.  I used Authentique Gathering and it was perfect for the layout about Mother's Day 2012.  I had a wonderful day spent with my husband and son and the weather was perfect.  It turns out my Mother's Day present was my beautiful daughter, born the following day!  It's a great feeling to be so blessed!

This layout was created for the SC Bright Ideas class.  The challenge was DIY Polka Dots.  Not sure if you can see it in the photo above, but I inked gold-ish mist on my background with bubble wrap.  Here is a close up:

I know Gathering is one of the older collections from Authentique, but it's just gorgeous in person.  I will be sad when my stash runs out of that one.

A Mother's Love

Words can't express how excited I was to hear I was going to have a baby girl.  I have always wanted a close mother/daughter relationship, much like what my mom and I have.  I saw the photo idea on Pinterest last spring and I HAD to recreate it.  I'm glad I did!  Overall, I'm happy with the layout I did and what I did with it.

I did this layout for the SC Bright Ideas class #2.  The challenge was to use stitching in your title.  I've done hand stitching on my layouts before, but I've never stitched words.  It WAS a challenge!  I think it turned out alright, but I definitely learned what I could do differently next time.  At least it gives it a soft, comforting look.

These challenges are going so fast, I can't keep up with all of them!  I'm still determined to finish them all at some point though.  I suppose once in awhile I'll have to raise my kids in between scrapping :)

Awesome and Bright Ideas!

Hi!  I'm super excited because I have finally taken the step to challenge myself with my scrapbooking.  I've noticed I've taken a "too familiar" approach to my layouts lately, so I thought I'd try something different and out of the box.  I signed up for Studio Calico's Bright Ideas class, and I'm SO glad I did!  I'm already finding tons of inspiration and new ideas/techniques to incorporate into my layouts.  I look forward to seeing where the class will take me by the end of the month.

The first challenge was to create something by using stenciling.  I chose to do a layout about my son dressed as HIS version of a super hero.  He's pretty awesome.

I feel it's a little plain still, and I might add more later, but the title itself is quite overwhelming, so I didn't want to make the layout too heavy.

I used one of the cut files from the class to make the stencil with my Cameo and misted with brown and silver.  The silver doesn't show up too well in the photo, but you can see it in person, I promise.

I'm going to try and keep up with the challenges as best as I can, but 5 layouts a week is a lot! 

Sweet Dreams

Ahh... I sure hope I have sweet dreams tonight, I was up at 4 this morning taking care of children.  I am exhausted.  Anyhoo, this post so happens to be my latest layout and entry for Kiwi Lane Designs DT Doodles - Week #3.

I used KLD templates Spook Alley with My Mind's Eye, American Crafts, and Sassafrass.  Isn't my daughter adorable?!  #proudmama :)

MWM Jade #6

My first MWM in ages!  I really enjoyed this sketch from Scrapbooksteals blog, I only wish I hadn't missed out on the collection that went along with it :(

I used My Mind's Eye, Fancy Pants, Kiwi Lane templates, and it was my first time trying the bubble wrap effect.  If I haven't mentioned it recently, I really love my Cameo!

All Bundled Up

I have quite the collection of photos of my daughter, just waiting for me to scrap them, but I decided to start with the photos I took right before Christmas of my kids playing in the snow.  I'll never be caught up on my scrapbooking!  This is my submission for the DT Doodles week #1 at Kiwi Lane.  I used Echo Park Wintertime collection with my Kiwi Lane Designer Templates Spook Alley 3A & B, Cascade Trails 3A & B, Mini Scallops 3, Rings 1 & 2 on the snowman.
