Scheller Family Update

It's been way too long, but we're here! So I'll basically just update on things. First: James started his last semester of school! Yay! He's just trying to finish all his requirements for school, pass his last board, and find a job that will suit all our family's needs. Otherwise he's excited to almost be done. Second: I'm just enjoying being at home with the kiddos! It can be a challenge someday, but I truly LOVE staying home with them. I'm waiting for Barrett to decide he wants to sleep through the night. About a year ago I got called to help with the Activity Day Girls at church and its been a great and fun calling to have! Those girls have a lot of energy and besides Kylie and Barrett, they keep me on my toes. Third: Kylie is really smart, funny, and energetic. Not long after Kylie's 3rd birthday her best friend's family moved. Lucky for her a couple months later a new family moved into the ward with a girl her age. Not to mention her mom is also from Idaho so I was happy to find that out. She also has an older brother who they all enjoy playing together. Kylie says things all the time that make us laugh. I wish I had an example of something to share, but can't currently think of one. She dances all the time and loves to sing. If we're in the car she's singing to the radio. We have also stared watching what we say around her because she copies whatever we say, silly girl! Last of all: Barrett is almost ten months old. He is growing so fast! He started sleeping really well at 2 months old, then 4 months hit and he seemed like a newborn again. He has just recently in the last month started sleeping good again, not amazing, but better! Around 6 months he started crawling and hasn't stopped moving since. The last couple days he's been taking steps unassisted. He needs to slow down! However he sure is cute! He bubbles saying dada and mama all the time. He's working on tooth 5 and 6 currently. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up on my posts, but if not you'll know it's because I'm chasing my kids!

Barrett James Scheller

March 20th, on his actual due date, Barrett James Scheller made his appearance. He weighed 7lbs 8oz, was 20 3/4in long and his head circumference was 13 3/4in. He is a great little guy and sleeps better at night than Kylie did. I don't actually have to hold him most of the time. He will sleep for about 3 hour stretches at night. We try to keep him up for a couple little stretches throughout the day, once in the morning and again in the evening. He is a nursing pro as well as a pooping one too!

Kylie is doing great with him for the most part. We have to keep reminding her that he is little and fragile so she must be careful around her little brother. She was completely potty trianed other than at night where she slept in a diaper, but hardly ever wet in it. However now we have had more accidents than while we were potty training her. I know she just wants a little more attention. That is why it has taken this long to post anything on here because anytime I have not taking care of Barrett is dedicated to Kylie. She was so used to having mommy's complete attention and now she has to share it with Barrett who requires a lot of attention. Poor girl, but we are trying. James comes home from school and has been taking her to the park. I try to take a little time at night that is just for her and me before James heads off the bed.

It has been an adjustment to get used to having two kids. Our house isn't as clean as it usually is and it usually is pretty clean. Dishes can go a couple days without being done and laundry gets backed up both weeks we have had Barrett here so far. James has been pretty patient with me as well has helping me out around the house. We love having two kids and are happy for such great ones (so far)! I hope Barrett is a lot like Kylie because she is a loving, caring little girl and I really hope he can be mild tempered just like her.

3 Weeks Left and More!

I haven’t been posting much lately and I know I should, but since my last post we have had a million things going on. We had Thanksgiving, Christmas, moving into a new apartment, gestational diabetes test, New Years, my Birthday, Valentine’s Day and I’m sure there are a lot of other things that I can’t currently remember (you know pregnancy brain).

First off the Holidays were great, but busy. We spent time going back and forth from James’ parent’s house. His entire family was there, except Sarah’s (James’ sister) husband who was deployed. It was the first time for me to be around the entire family at one time. It was crazy, but fun!

We finally found out that our old landlord was going to let us out of our contract a few months early and had very little time to find an apartment and move. Luckily I had been looking for a while and we already had a few places in mind. We found a place and went to check it out before Thanksgiving. At the end of the week we were meeting up with the new landlord to sign paperwork to move in starting December 14th. It was crazy how fast it moved. So we started our move before Christmas, but had until January 21st to be completely out of our old apartment. I’m so happy with our new place. We are on a top floor so no noisy neighbors above us and our new apartment was built in 2006 and not 1980’s (I think that is when our last place was built). We LOVE our new place!

Two days after Christmas, I know I planned this one well, I had my gestational diabetes test. Luckily I passed and could continue my pregnancy the way I had been.

For my Birthday, James took me to Applebee’s, one of my favorite places to eat. I was excited leading up to my Birthday because I had watched the new Applebee’s get built about 5 minutes from our new apartment! It was great! I feel really old, but I know my parents do to ;) because I am their youngest and I’m 26.

Valentine’s Day was fun! Kylie and I stayed home and made cards and decorated a little for James. However he came home (lucky for us before we started) with two dozen roses and a box of chocolates for me and a little box for Kylie. I think Kylie loved getting her own box. She was really excited!

Now to the most exciting news! I have 3 weeks today until my due date! I really can’t wait to be done being pregnant, but I’m a little nervous about being home all day by myself with two little ones. I’m sure I can do it because there are so many out there who do, but I’m still nervous. I’m sure Kylie will be such a great help because she is already helping me so much with things. I’ve had a few small contractions, but nothing regular. Too bad because I think it would be really cool to have a baby on February 29th! Oh well, James won’t be around tomorrow (he’ll be about an hour and a half away) and I don’t feel like going into labor without him close enough to be there when things start to happen!

Another really big feat that we accomplished since being in our new apartment was getting Kylie completely potty trained! YAY! Ok well not completely, she still wears a diaper at night, but most nights she wakes up with a dry diaper. She can even go to the bathroom and do it all by herself other than wipe of course, but I was excited to get this done so we would only have one kid in diapers. Didn’t want to have to change two kids diapers.

Now that I have bored everyone with a long update on what is going on in the Scheller household, I will leave you with something Kylie did last night and hasn’t really stopped talking about doing it again since. (Sorry if this video doesn't work, I'll try to figure out why.)

Baby Scheller #2

We had our ultrasound today. Baby Scheller is doing well. Looks healthy and is very active! We also found out that we are having….A BOY! Yay for James, I think he really needs another boy in this house! Here are a couple pictures from the ultrasound!

Due date hasn’t changed(3/20/2012), but by the measurements it was a few days different, saying the EDD as 3/17/2012. Which would make it James’ birthday! Who knows, but we’ll sure have fun no matter what!

Kylie was a little upset at the ultrasound because she didn’t know what was happening to mommy and she just wanted me to hold her. I felt bad and as soon as we knew it would be her baby brother, James took her out to the waiting room where the receptionists gave her a coloring book and crayons and some juice. She was better by the time I got out. She says she's excited for her little brother, but we will see in another 23 weeks if she still feels that way!

Issues

Summer 2011

We put Kylie in swim lessons this summer. She was in a parent/toddler class. Which means I got to go in with her every week. We signed up with her friend Annabelle and her mom. They didn’t do much other than teach the basics of swimming such as kicking their legs and scooping with their arms. Then they sang a bunch of songs to get the kids used to being in the water. Kylie did well some days, but acted like a two year old other days. She would kick sometimes and scoop others, but one thing she never wanted to do (I managed to get her to do it once) was blow bubbles in the water. The instructor even got whistles to try and help blow bubbles, but Kylie was not having it. We’ll work on her in the bath tub until next time we do swim.

Potty Training

We feel Kylie would be potty trained within a week if we could just do it, but being pregnant, I just can’t handle the smells of the bathroom. However that does include the smells of diapers too. Luckily Kylie usually only goes poopy in the potty. Which helps with the smell of the diapers, but the smell in the bathroom doesn’t help much. It also doesn’t help that we live in an apartment that is older than dirt. It is a great place, location, and price, but it is old and smells musty if the central air fan isn’t running most of the day. So we try to get Kylie to go potty on the potty so she can be potty trained before out next baby comes along. I would love to only buy diapers for one kid. So if anyone has any advice on potty training while pregnant let me know. Anything to help with the smells will be great. (Or advice on getting rid of a musty/old smell too)
