Why We Need a Playroom....

So, as I mentioned in a previous post, we've taken the front of Brooke's crib off to make it a "big girl" bed. Well, it's great...except for one thing. All her toys are in her bedroom because our temporary housing is way too small for a family of 5! So, when she's just not in the mood for a nap (GRRRR) she plays. However, I have to give it to her -- she's pretty smart about it because most of the time she's really quiet. Today she was in there for about 2 hours and we kept telling her to sleep, etc. When we finally went in to get her this is what we found. Yep...those are crayon marks on the sheets, table & chair. Did I mention how much we LOVE her! :)

So, pray for us as we are constantly searching for new house down here -- that it will have 4 bedrooms so that her toys can be off-limits during nap time. HA!

We're Still Here!

I am sure all my blog readers (ha!) have been dying for an update on us.

Since I've written last... Hudson has a tooth and almost has his 2nd. Hallie is pushing up on her knees and is still rolling all over the house, and Brooke is 99.9% potty trained. YAY!

We've been busy I guess or maybe I've just felt like we haven't had anything blog-worthy. We had a relaxed day today. Even though there was a home A&M game, we opted to give our tickets away and stay home. It was nice for me to be able to watch my UT game on TV since I am usually sitting at Kyle Field watching the Aggies while the Horns play.

This afternoon we spent some time in the back yard. We've got a great swing set that Brooke loves. Hudson & Hallie enjoy their little swing too. We're going to have to get another one so that all three kids can swing at the same time. We took some pictures of Hudson & Hallie in the grass. They handled it WAY better than Brooke did. She used to freak out about it - but H&H seemed to like it. Now that they sit up really well it was their first time in the grass.




We had a milestone day in the Jacobus house this afternoon. We took the front of Brooke's crib off to make it a "big-girl" bed. As you'll see below by the picture - she was so excited. She's been begging for the past two days to take a nap in a big bed and I've been wanting to do it for a while now, so it seemed as good a time as any to just do it. After an hour or so of her "playing" in the room and coming in and out of the room we gave her the 'stern' talking to and she fell asleep finally. It was crazy though for her to come find me when her nap was over. I'm going to have to get used to that!

Bath Time Fun

I hadn't taken pictures of Hallie & Hudson in the tub since they really can sit up well in their chair. Aren't Hallie's eyes gorgeous? And Hudson can smile with the best of them... he just lights up when you call his name. Brooke is "swimming" in the tub and she plays while I bathe Hudson & Hallie. This is normally George's job, but he's out having guy fun dove hunting in the middle of nowhere. Can't wait for him to be home! :)

Hurricane Ike

Because we're about to have a hurricane/tropical storm rolling through town I figured it was a good time to get the kids outside since we'll be housebound for a while.

Shots Part Deux

We took Hudson & Hallie to the doctor yesterday for their 6 month check up. Both got great reports. They got their second round of shots... 3 of them. Other than that it was a routine visit. Hopefully the prescription that we got for Hallie will help her cough to go away. She's had it for about 2 weeks. The doctor told me last week when I took her in that she thought it was a virus that would run its course for about 5 days... since she still had it after 2 weeks she gave us an antibiotic that will hopefully take care of the problem. Luckily, the doctor said she wasn't contagious because believe me... I need for the kids to be able to go to the church nursery. See below for their stats...

Splash Pad

Every Thursday a group from our Sunday school class gets together for play date. Usually, we meet at someone's house, but this past Thursday we went to a Splash Pad so the kids could play. Brooke has never been to one of these so when we got there she was a bit hesitant and wouldn't go play. I finally coaxed her to go by telling her that I'd take her picture. As you can see, she eventually warmed up and had a great time!! I think we'll be going back there again!

Have I Mentioned....

Have I mentioned that I love it here?

We've been in College Station now for almost 3 months. It feels like forever though... and that's a good thing! We LOVE it here and let me tell you why (in no particular order).
1. We don't have to drive 3 hours each way to use our season tickets
2. College kids love our kids
3. We get to be on campus (this is George's reason!)
4. Our new friends
5. Our church
6. HEB... I can take all three kids to the grocery store & the shopping card accomodates two sitting children in the front basket...like it has 4 leg holes!!
7. Small town feel w/ "some" luxuries of the big city
8. Friendly people
9. Real estate prices (oh wait...this is the wrong list for this item!)

So, all in all we love everything about this place!
