New Journey

"I can’t even remember the last time we kissed. Because you never think the last time is the last time. You think you have forever, but you don’t" - Meredith Grey

Yes, Switzerland, Here I am! Couldn't believe it is true even I'm here for almost a month for now! New life, new people, old people.... I'm glad for this adventure that I had decided.

Cheers for the Semester! :)

什么是坚持?就是一天,又一天,你告诉自己,再坚持一天

Absolutely agree :)
Being tough does not mean that I'm alone, no one loves me. Just depending on how you deal with it!
However, stupidity pulled me down again, embarrassed myself...but but...
I'm gonna get through it and learn from the mistake!
Two and half weeks til the brand new days again! woops

Blissful

A soothing song before sleep! I still remember I saw Laura Jensen during the Strawberry festival in Beijing!

Monday Blues is gone, and I am blissful.

Living Abroad, From A-Z

An article to share :)

A very dependable feature of people who live abroad is finding them huddled together in bars and restaurants, talking not just about their homelands, but about the experience of leaving. And strangely enough, these groups of ex-pats aren’t necessarily all from the same home countries, often the mere experience of trading lands and cultures is enough to link them together and build the foundations of a friendship. I knew a decent amount of ex pats — of varying lengths of stay — back in America, and it’s reassuring to see that here in Europe, the “foreigner” bars are just as prevalent and filled with the same warm, nostalgic chatter.
But one thing that undoubtedly exists between all of us, something that lingers unspoken at all of our gatherings, is fear. There is a palpable fear to living in a new country, and though it is more acute in the first months, even year, of your stay, it never completely evaporates as time goes on. It simply changes. The anxiousness that was once concentrated on how you’re going to make new friends, adjust, and master the nuances of the language has become the repeated question “What am I missing?” As you settle into your new life and country, as time passes and becomes less a question of how long you’ve been here and more one of how long you’ve been gone, you realize that life back home has gone on without you. People have grown up, they’ve moved, they’ve married, they’ve become completely different people — and so have you.
It’s hard to deny that the act of living in another country, in another language, fundamentally changes you. Different parts of your personality sort of float to the top, and you take on qualities, mannerisms, and opinions that define the new people around you. And there’s nothing wrong with that; it’s often part of the reason you left in the first place. You wanted to evolve, to change something, to put yourself in an uncomfortable new situation that would force you to into a new phase of your life.
So many of us, when we leave our home countries, want to escape ourselves. We build up enormous webs of people, of bars and coffee shops, of arguments and exes and the same five places over and over again, from which we feel we can’t break free. There are just too many bridges that have been burned, or love that has turned sour and ugly, or restaurants at which you’ve eaten everything on the menu at least ten times — the only way to escape and to wipe your slate clean is to go somewhere where no one knows who you were, and no one is going to ask. And while it’s enormously refreshing and exhilarating to feel like you can be anyone you want to be and come without the baggage of your past, you realize just how much of “you” was based more on geographic location than anything else.
Walking streets alone and eating dinner at tables for one — maybe with a book, maybe not — you’re left alone for hours, days on end with nothing but your own thoughts. You start talking to yourself, asking yourself questions and answering them, and taking in the day’s activities with a slowness and an appreciation that you’ve never before even attempted. Even just going to the grocery store — when in an exciting new place, when all by yourself, when in a new language — is a thrilling activity. And having to start from zero and rebuild everything, having to re-learn how to live and carry out every day activities like a child, fundamentally alters you. Yes, the country and its people will have their own effect on who you are and what you think, but few things are more profound than just starting over with the basics and relying on yourself to build a life again. I have yet to meet a person who I didn’t find calmed by the experience. There is a certain amount of comfort and confidence that you gain with yourself when you go to this new place and start all over again, and a knowledge that — come what may in the rest of your life — you were capable of taking that leap and landing softly at least once.
But there are the fears. And yes, life has gone on without you. And the longer you stay in your new home, the more profound those changes will become. Holidays, birthdays, weddings — every event that you miss suddenly becomes a tick mark on an endless ream of paper. One day, you simply look back and realize that so much has happened in your absence, that so much has changed. You find it harder and harder to start conversations with people who used to be some of your best friends, and in-jokes become increasingly foreign — you have become an outsider. There are those who stay so long that they can never go back. We all meet the ex-pat who has been in his new home for 30 years and who seems to have almost replaced the missed years spent back in his homeland with full, passionate immersion into his new country. Yes, technically they are immigrants. Technically their birth certificate would place them in a different part of the world. But it’s undeniable that whatever life they left back home, they could never pick up all the pieces to. That old person is gone, and you realize that every day, you come a tiny bit closer to becoming that person yourself — even if you don’t want to.
So you look at your life, and the two countries that hold it, and realize that you are now two distinct people. As much as your countries represent and fulfill different parts of you and what you enjoy about life, as much as you have formed unbreakable bonds with people you love in both places, as much as you feel truly at home in either one, so you are divided in two. For the rest of your life, or at least it feels this way, you will spend your time in one naggingly longing for the other, and waiting until you can get back for at least a few weeks and dive back into the person you were back there. It takes so much to carve out a new life for yourself somewhere new, and it can’t die simply because you’ve moved over a few time zones. The people that took you into their country and became your new family, they aren’t going to mean any less to you when you’re far away.
When you live abroad, you realize that, no matter where you are, you will always be an ex-pat. There will always be a part of you that is far away from its home and is lying dormant until it can breathe and live in full color back in the country where it belongs. To live in a new place is a beautiful, thrilling thing, and it can show you that you can be whoever you want — on your own terms. It can give you the gift of freedom, of new beginnings, of curiosity and excitement. But to start over, to get on that plane, doesn’t come without a price. You cannot be in two places at once, and from now on, you will always lay awake on certain nights and think of all the things you’re missing out on back home.

FwB

It's been a huge question mark upon this question.  The yes and no?
1. Fess up
2. Lay low
3. Play smart

As if you ever care. Stop puzzling!!

There's a song here to chill. Amazing voice!

TANNing

Finally get to enjoy the sun and beach this weekend! Thanks to the awesome weather. Apparently I have been enjoying the sun since last week! It's once in a blue moon for the northern Germans! So everyone here is excited about the weather! As it is always chilly and windy.
but wait! wth am I talking about weather all time as well? As a true blue Malaysian, who cares right? It's sunny all year at home! So, I should be afraid being under the sun instead of enjoying it. blahh.
Clarifications that I want to make. Yes, most Asians loves to have fair skin, no doubt, yet, NOT ALL. and I'm not one of them! For me, darker skin tone is healthier. but not as dark as dark chocolate lah LOL

This weekend is the Nautic's event at the harbour, I went to watch fireworks on Friday night . Luckily I wasn't just with the kai alone, or else I will just be bored til death. Gotta attend the birthday on Thursday. hmm what shall I get him?

Met Moni and her friends later and we spent the kicked-ass night together! First went to shakirs and then Speicher! ohyeah I even Bumped into some ex classmates at the harbour, like seriously! It's easy to bumped into people in Flensburg! just like Ipoh. hahha, now I know I'm famous in Flensburg too! I know people, people know me! heheh kidding. Rocked til 6 in the morning, what did I do? amazingly not wasted at all! :) just enjoyed! Again, went back to the harbour after few hours of sleep to meet up with Hanna. Pictures to share, saw the SunThoRice landed, pirate juggles, live band and etc happening stuff going on.

The weekend just waved goodbye! and last week too was incredible weekend visiting long-time-no-see friends! It was a four day trip traveling three different places and over night at three different places meet different friends. It's really nice to see them again. all the way from Flensburg - Henstedt Ulzburg - Hamburg - Berlin  and again Flensburg.

It's a joy and I'm blessed to have my friends!
Wish everyone a good week ahead!!

I Just Wanna Go

Reflections of life before bedtime. I always tell myself I always wanna go, where do I wanna go? With whom? How? Why?
I always struggles in between these questions. Yes, I am blessed that I could spend time at different places. but, I am yet to be contented. I need a strength to hold me. Cos, I go for a reason.

Just wondering. Where and how I am going to end up? because I just wanna go?

Btw, the song was sang by one of my awesome sweet classmate! So proud of him! xx

Birthday is not just about celebrations. Well, birthday for me symbolic the day when mommy suffers pain and brought me to this world 22 years ago. It show how quick time flew away. Right now, I'm living miles apart from my beloved family but I am really blessed to get supports and love from them. To my dearest friends that have been with me all these while. I really appreciate them! Also, I always believe that someone walked into your life for a reason even some of them just come and go.
It will be an exciting twenty two for me I am sure! Gonna spend half a year in Europe! Looking forward for the upcoming surprises!

Beloved Granny

It's been a month since Granny left.
Lotsa prayers for her and we still miss her dearly. I hope you heard our prayers and staying peacefully in a better place now.
Our love for you will never die.

婆。。。。。我爱你!!!

Below is the tribute I wrote.
Written on 4th February 2012

Tribute to our beloved granny
“Lolaa….looola….” it’s been awhile since I heard the familiar voice calling me that way.
This is especially dedicated to my beloved granny. She left us yesterday, 3rd February to a better place. I just got back from her mourning and praying session. I miss her so much. Living in this mortal world; I still couldn’t believe I lost someone so close to me.
My childhood memories are full of her, it was a beautiful strong bond we have. We are so lucky to have her. I used to stay at her place most of the time with my siblings and cousins. She was very close with us all. We could joke together, talk on the phone for hours, more than a best granny and also a buddy for me. She pampered us and we pampered her. Still remember her favorite saying was “a Guinness a day, keeps the doctor away”. Believe it or not? Guinness Stout was her favourite all time since her teenage time! The way she used to show her love was adorable, I still remember she will cook dinner for us and whatever dish we told her tasted good, she will cook the same dish for few days till we get bored. She will then try out a new dish to keep up to different flavor. Her love and care of us is unlimited. She never complains for doing chores and being very understanding knowing her kids are busy while she needs to do take care of her grandchildren.  She used to tell us stories of hers, about her childhood, married life, kids and us.
I admire my granny very much. Her attitude in life inspires me, her humbleness, selfless emotion and her determination in life. She is one of the toughest women I have ever met. Unfortunately, she suffered a stroke two years back and undergoes several brain operations, yet she still did not give up for life. She slowly recovers but at last couldn’t defeat the sickness. Seeing her grow old day by day, it is just hard to believe. She stopped talking much, eating much nor moving much and memory was limited. I just wished we could have longer time together seeing all of her grandchildren get married. But now she is gone, may your soul rest in peace. I’m sure you will be our guiding angels looking after us like always.
I love you, we love you so much!!!
Great people like my granny don’t really die, they live in our memories.

Frohe Ostern!

A very nice and soothing pic! The balloons on the tree would represents the Easter egg.
Easter always reminds me about Germany! Before Germany, I only knew about Good Friday where my Alma Mater AMC will have holiday on Good Friday. During the year in Germany, I got to celebrate this day and knew more about it. I remember giving a speech in German in the school about celebrating Good Friday in Malaysia. Good Friday is also known as Karfreitag in German. The Sunday after Good Friday is then the Easter Day. Gonna go to Church with some Indon Friend's for this celebration later!

Happy Easter Day!

Lots of Love!

Prevention is better than Cure.

Got this from MSN, check out ur body! Prevention is better than cure!

..............................

What are your symptoms telling you?

You shouldn't ignore persistent hunger, dry skin or other common symptoms.

Your body could be telling you something and illness could be staring you in the face.
Dora Walsh, Head Nutritionist and Founder of www.nutriheal.net explains why...
health (© Getty Images)
Uncontrollable eating and sugar cravings

We've all been there! Uncontrollable sugar cravings often leading to excessive eating could be sign your body isn't digesting or absorbing food efficiently which can result in poor nutrient absorption and make your body crave sugar as a way of getting energy into the body fast! And when these cravings hit, it's practically impossible to resist them!
Solution: Support your digestion by eating simple food combinations or supplement your diet with digestive enzymes for one month and avoid drinking too much at meal times as it dilutes your digestive juices. Also combine protein with complex carbs to balance your blood sugar.
health (© Getty Images)
Unexplained weight gain

Are you eating normally, working out but still gaining weight? You might even feel a bit sluggish. Why? There could be many reasons, but one of the most common is a low acting thyroid which can slow down metabolism and the rate at which you burn food.
Solution: Get your thyroid checked and eat thyroid healthy foods rich in B vitamins, essential fats from oily fish, raw nuts and seeds, tyrosine from almonds and avocados, bananas, beans, poultry, iodine from fish and seafood, selenium from Brazil buts and zinc form tahini and sesame seeds.
Avoid: Broccoli, cauliflower, mustard, cabbage and turnips or soy products as they can interfere with thyroid function.
health (© Getty Images)
Dry skin and eczema

Eczema is such a common problem, but can also be a sign your body isn't getting enough essential omega 3 fats from cold water fish like salmon, sardines, mackerel or raw nuts and seeds. These fats are essential for skin health. Many eczema sufferers are also allergic or intolerant to wheat and dairy and are often severely dehydrated.
Solution: Eat cold water fish three times a week, cut out wheat and dairy for one month (to see how you feel), eat a handful of raw nuts and seeds a day and drink 8 glasses of pure water. You may even want to try taking some omega 3 fish oils.
health (© Getty Images)
Early greys

The first signs of grey when you are still young are pretty depressing aren't they? Luckily there's something you can do about it. If your early greys are due to your smoking or a sign of vitamin B5 or B12 deficiency rather than your genetics, then the good news is that you can turn the clock back!
Solution: Avoid stress and supplement your diet with a good quality multiple B complex including B5 and B12 for at least three months. Avoid tea and coffee which deplete these vitamins and give up smoking as smokers are 4 times more likely to have gray hair than non-smokers.
health (© Getty Images)
Muscle cramps and spasms

Do you have muscle cramps and spasms? Do you live a busy, demanding, stressful lifestyle? You may be low in the mineral magnesium which is involved in muscle contraction and relaxation. Your body uses up more magnesium during stressful periods, and when you don't get enough you may experience persistent eye twitches or cramps.
Solution: Eat more magnesium rich foods such as raw almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds and green leafy vegetables.
health (© Getty Images)
Dark eye shadows

Do you suffer from panda eyes and spend ages trying to cover them up? Other than lack of sleep, dark under eye circles could signal possible food allergies, poor kidney function, dehydration or poor blood sugar control.
Solution: Rehydrate your body with plenty of pure water, cut down on caffeine and alcohol and support your kidneys with a healthier diet. You should also balance your blood sugar with regular meals and never let yourself go hungry!
Avoid: Monosodium glutamate (MSG) and steer clear of canned, pickled, or smoked meats and avoid adding salt to food.
Foods to support your kidneys include: Adzuki beans, kidney beans and parsley.
health (© Getty Images)
Dandruff

Your dandruff shampoo might work on a topical level, but have you ever wondered what the real cause of your dandruff might be? Dandruff often signals vitamin B6, zinc, and magnesium or biotin deficiency. It can also indicate hormone imbalances, excessive sugar in the diet, stress or allergies to dairy produce, chocolate, nuts and shellfish.
Solution: Consume fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. The diet must be low in saturated fats, sugar and excessive alcohol or caffeine which can deplete essential vitamins and minerals further.
Eat foods rich in Vit B6 and Zinc such as brown rice, whole grains, peanuts, walnuts, avocados, peas, turnips, kelp, lean red meat, fish, poultry, and lamb.
health (© Getty Images)
Bleeding gums

Scurvy still exists! Vitamin C deficiency can cause bleeding gums and is often seen in older, malnourished adults. It can lead to weakness and anaemia but can be remedied easily. Bleeding gums can also be due to plaque build up at the gum line which can lead to inflamed and bleeding gums. You should speak to your dentist about this. And if gum bleeding persists, it may be a sign of serious medical disorders and you should always speak to your Doctor in this instance.
Solution: Eat vitamin C rich foods which include: blackcurrants, peaches, spring greens, kiwi fruits, bell peppers, berries, citrus fruits.
health (© Getty Images)
White inner eyelids

Pull your lower eyelids down and check to see if they look very pale. If so, you may be low on iron which is especially common in women due to menstrual blood loss, although men can become anaemic too. Also watch out for pale skin, rapid heartbeat and excessive tiredness
Solution: Get your iron levels checked and consume foods rich in iron and vitamin C, which you need in order to absorb the iron from your diet.
Iron rich foods include: Lean red meat, (lamb, game, and beef), eggs. Vitamin C rich food include: kiwi fruits, peppers, berries, citrus, tomatoes and green cabbage.
health (© Getty Images)
Mouth ulcers

Recurrent mouth ulcers are extremely common and can also be linked to various nutrient deficiencies including vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin B6 and zinc.
Many vegetarians and vegans suffer from mouth ulcers since it's difficult to get enough B12 and folic acid from a vegetarian diet. But, it is possible if you know how. Recurrent mouth ulcers are sometimes a sign of celiac disease (sensitivity to gluten in the diet) and should be discussed with your doctor. Seek medical advice if ulcers keep coming back or last more than 3 weeks.
Solution: Try vitamin B12 rich foods such as red meat, aloe vera, sardines, and eggs, liver or nutritional yeast and get yourself checked for celiac disease.
