Good news. My Mom's extended family is starting a family blog. I'm excited - I hope lots of relatives participate.
However, that means I will be a contributor to 4 blogs (this one, Sandy Davidsons, Corey's, and now the new one) - and that is just WAY too many for me. So, I'm going to quit posting here. I don't actually want to delete Bump on a Blog because I want to find a way to get it in hardcopy first. Having my own blog was a good, fun learning experience. But, really, just using the family blog will be sufficient now.
I've pretty much gotten out of the habit of typing really long, rambling posts that I was hesitant to put on Sandy Davidsons. Plus, Dion said I can do whatever I want at our family blog - for instance, I don't have to link to Picasa, I can do book or movie reviews or whatever. So, I'm going over to post at Sandy Davidsons in a few mintues because I've been saving up some blog stuff I want to say.
Last, I signed up at Facebook. It's been taking some of my time and interest away from blogging. I seriously don't get this modern day trend of putting your life and thoughts out there. It's like we all want everyone to know all about us and we all want to know about everyone else. In a way, it makes me uncomfortable. Plus, it's a waste of time. On Facebook it's weird knowing that all of my "friends" can see whatever I type to anyone else. Why do we want that? It's a little fun, but a little creepy, too. I suppose I do it because I don't want to be left out of this technology loop. . .
Well, I'm off to Sandy Davidsons.

More from Randy's Life
Randy still wears pull-ups to bed. Every now and then he'll wake up dry and I'll tell him how exciting that is and all that. You can tell if he's dry because the stars on the crotch of the pull-up are still there. When the stars get wet, they disappear. So, one morning as he was getting dressed I asked him if he was dry, but then I noticed that stars weren't there. So, I said, "Oh, the stars are all gone." And he said, "Yeah, it's morning in my pull-up."
Also, Jenna gave Randy a bloody nose right before church this morning. Grr. Of course, having to get ready for 9 o'clock church means we're on a tight schedule. For example, I have to dash around finishing up gathering all the gear for my Sunbeam class, making sure the kids' are dressed and combed and that we have water, Goldfish crackers, books, etc. (Dion is usually at early meetings during all of this, or else, like today, he was rehearsing with the choir.) So, a bloody nose really throws a wrench in things. Apparently Jenna had one hand on the arm of the chair and one hand on the arm of the couch and was holding herself up and swinging her legs back and forth. She claims Randy accidentally walked right into where her boot-clad foot was flying through the air. Luckily, the blood wasn't flowing excessively and we hurried and got it cleaned up. Randy cried a bit and Jenna was penitent and comforted him. Anyway, we made it to church just after the opening song. Whew!

Muggins Mouse
We were sorting through the kids' stuffed animals yesterday. There's one that's a gray mouse puppet with a little pouch where a mouse baby sits. It belonged to my sister and me when we were little. We called him Muggins Mouse. It stuck in my memory that the name came from a book, but I couldn't remember anything about it. So, I looked it up on line. Unfortunately, the pictures don't ring any bells. I thought it would be fun to check it out from the library, but no luck - they don't have it. It must be too old or something. I'm sure my Mom or my Aunt Jayni would remember more about all of this.Wednesday, December 17, 2008
Jenna's Funky Style

Jenna comes up with some unique outfits. That is one thing I really love about her. In the above pictures, she is wearing a dress that used to be mine. (While we were in MT for Thanksgiving my Mom brought out some old boxes. We found 3 dresses that used to belong to me and Heather that now fit J.) Anyway, she wanted to wear the dress, but it really is a bit too short. Plus, it's cold and wintery outside lately - not really short-sleeve, short-dress weather. So, she threw this little ensemble together. (I wish I were as photogenic as J is - every picture of her comes out cute.)
English Souvenirs
Dion went to England for 5 days after Thanksgiving.
He brought Corey a real, true Manchester United Football Club jersey.

He brought Jenna a real, true (stuffed) Paddington Bear.

He brought Randy a real, true (mini) Austin Mini-Cooper. What's cool is that we saw a life-sized car JUST LIKE THIS drive right in front of us as we were walking into the Sandy Library for R's preschool Christmas program.

And, he brought me a real, true British copy of J.K. Rowling's new little book
Also, he tried to bring me some real, true British marmalade, but they wouldn't let him bring it through security in his carry-on. So, when his boss came home from England a few days later he brought over the marmalade in his checked baggage. That was sure nice of him! It's lemon-lime and I think it tastes a lot like lime jello. I thought I took some pictures, but I can't find them.
AND, Dion also brought us some real, true British cookies called "Digestives." Quite delightful, I must say. Sort of graham cracker-ish on one side with chocolate on the other. Not too sweet.
Dion sure is good at choosing gifts!
(That's why I think HE should do most of the Christmas shopping.)

I just watched. . .
Last night I finished watching a mini-series made in 2001 I rented from the library. It's based on a satirical novel I've never read, set in England in the 1870s. Made some interesting points - especially in light of the current economic situation. That evil looking guy gets people to "invest" in big projects, but it turns out that all his promises are empty. I liked it because it had:Mr. Filch and
Moaning Myrtle from the Harry Potter movies - David Bradley and Shirley Henderson
Eowyn from Lord of the Rings - Miranda Otto
Mr. Darcy from the new Pride and Prejudice - Matthew Macfadyen
Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow from Batman Begins - Cillian Murphy
