I know, I know, I am way behind in blogging. I have lots to catch up on, but for today I just have a few pictures of Caroline yesterday at Grammy and Grandpoppy's house. I hope you enjoy!

Sharpies and a Resolution Update

It has been pretty quiet around here lately...most of which I contribute to David staying busy with school. This afternoon David decided to liven up his studies just a little. He came out of our bedroom where he had been studying gross anatomy to show me this:

This was our conversation:

Me: How is the studying going?

Him: Good! I've been studying the nerves in the arm. To help me remember it I decided to label the nerves in my own arm. With a sharpie.

Me:(blank stare)

Him: See! Look!

Me: Did you get sharpie on our bed?

Him: Not this time.

Me: Great.

The good news is it is cold outside and he wears long sleeves to school! Hopefully, he won't continue this trend for the rest of the semester.... In other news, this is my latest temptation:

I have wanted this coat (not in this color) for several years now. Every winter, I open my JCrew catalogue and sigh. Well, on Friday I was checking out the sales on their website and there it was. On sale. With an additional 30% off. And free shipping. I could hardly contain my excitement. Until I remembered the budget. My clothing envelope is already empty for the month of January and while it is very close to February (sale ends today), it would take more than one month's clothing budget to purchase the coat. My goal for my budget is to not "spend ahead" when I can avoid it. I did that a lot last year and it did not end well. So...after much deliberation I have decided not to get it. I know it is a great price, but it will most likely go on sale again. In the mean time, I am going to set aside some of my clothing budget each month to save for the coat and a couple of other "bigger" clothing purchases I would like to make.

2010 Resolutions...and more!

As promised (and much anticipated, I am sure ;)), I am back with my 2010 Resolutions. I've never been much of one for making (much less keeping) resolutions, but I am giving it a shot this year and I hope to be able to share with you my progress throughout the year.

1. Be healthier. I will admit it: I love (if i knew how to make a heart symbol I would here) McDonalds. I also love regular coke and crystal light. So... my new plan for eating includes limiting my McDonalds (once every six weeks- there is one in the hospital where I work. I only eat it at work, but it is oh-so-very-good!), less coke, less artificial sweeteners, more plain water, fruits, and veggies. I am also committing myself to exercising more regularly. So far I have been using this video:

It is a pretty tough workout but it is only 20 minutes, which gives me enough motivation to do it. I am also combining it with some walking/jogging. I will keep you posted!

2. Stay on budget. I am so thankful the Lord provided me with a very disciplined husband who is quite the saver and has spent a lot of time working on our budget. I, however, am quite the spender. David decided to try me on a cash system this year for my own personal spending (clothing, gifts, etc.). Over the past 21 days I have realized how quickly and thoughtlessly I spend money. This is a tough one.

3. Spend more time in the Word. It is embarrassing to share this one because I can look back on my day and see how much time I have wasted. I also realize that right now I probably have more free time than I will ever have, considering we do not have any children. I do work full time, but my days off are just that- off. Please pray that I will be diligent in devoting myself to time in the Word.

Okay... switching gears a little here... For months I have been wanting a console table for our living room. My mom and Lamar gave us one for Christmas and I love it! However, my problem is I am not really sure what to put on it. David is of the mind that less is more, but I feel that it is lacking. Do you have any suggestions? Comments are welcomed and encouraged!

Welcome to our Wigwam!

Welcome to the blog! After being a blog-follower for a couple of years now, I finally decided it was time to join the world of blogging. I feel in no way equipped to share with others as eloquently as many of my favorite bloggers do, but I hope that this blog will be 1. Glorifying to God 2. a journal of our "newlywed years" and 3. Fun. :)

I thought I would start with a quick recap of 2009.

January- March: Okay. I will be honest. These months were not the best for me. It was cold. David was extremely busy with school. My grandfather, Papa, passed away. I have few pictures to share from these months (kind of the theme for the whole year!), but here is one of my mom with my grandparents, Mamoo and Papa, from our wedding (July, 2008). Papa was incredibly talented and creative. He also had a great sense of humor (who else would invent the Silly Cycle?). He was a wonderful man. I miss him terribly, but I know that I will one day join him, worshipping our Savior in Heaven.

April: Again, I have few pictures, but April included a trip to Atlanta with my mom and grandmother to visit my sister, Anna, and celebrate the upcoming birth of her sweet baby girl. Sadly, I have no photographical evidence of the said trip, so we will go with something else. April also included cheering up the front door to our apartment a little with some potted begonias. This picture is not of our front door, but it is of our begonias (after receiving some much needed TLC and SUNSHINE while at the Harbargers for a few weeks during the summer). Can you tell I am trying to squeeze in what photos I have? :)

May: Probably the most eventful month of the year! First, we welcomed into the world our first niece, Caroline Worthey. I surprised Sister with a quick trip to Atlanta to meet our little Carebug the day after she was born. She is such a joy!

After returning from my quick trip to ATL, David and I got ready for the next big event... Laura and Breck's wedding!

June: We welcomed another new family member (and another Anna)! My brother, Will and Anna Beth got married!

End of June/beginning of July: David and I were blessed with the opportunity to go on a medical/dental mission trip to Cajamarca, Peru with First Presbyterian, Jackson. David has been on this trip many times and I have known about his love for Peru since we started dating. Once we arrived, I quickly learned why he loved Peru. The Peruvians we met were extremely grateful and easy to love. It was a privilege to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ in Peru. I think this trip deserves a post of its own, but until then, here a few pictures of our trip and the team.

Once we returned from Peru, we spent some more time keeping this mischievous pup:

We also celebrated our first anniversary in July. I must say, the cake was not quite as tasty after a year in the freezer, but it was fun nonetheless! (Thanks, Mom, for keeping it frozen during the move!)

August: After a quick trip to Atlanta to visit Caroline (you can read about that here) and then on to Augusta to visit Claude and Rachel, we eventually returned home just in time for David to start school again. (Okay- I cheated here- this is actually from David's first day of school, August 2008. He pretty much looked the same :))

September: With David's school not quite in full swing yet, we were able to sneak away for a fun Labor Day weekend in Destin with Walker, Kathy, Kate, and Barrett. It was a great trip complete with lots of good food and the girls DOMINATING in a friendly, late-night game of Catch Phrase.

October: I made lots of Pumpkin Bread (from a mix) and ate it all before I could take any pictures. Sadly, this is the truth. (My next post will be about New Years Resolutions....)

November: We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with the Harbargers in Huntsville. Grandad and Hobbie graciously hosted all 29 members of the Harbarger family (including Mammy) for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. While in Huntsville we also enjoyed a few late night games of Sequence (where the girls won!), and Uncle David's block party for the Auburn v. Alabama game. The set-up for the party was most impressive (again, I apologize for the lack of pictures). It was a sad day for the War Eagles, but we still had fun!

December: We celebrated the birth of our Savior. Around the first of the month, I worked on getting our first Christmas tree together (which proved to be a more difficult task than I had anticipated. As we speak, we are still awaiting section B of our tree to arrive from Hong Kong). I also started working on a new hobby, sewing. My first project was our Christmas tree skirt. I was pleased with the outcome (keep in mind, I am a beginner) and I will post more about that later! I had to work on Christmas Day, but I was off on Christmas Eve and we attended the Christmas Eve Service at my home church. The service was wonderful and I was thankful to be able to attend. We enjoyed spending time with both of our families during the week of Christmas and a few friends who were in town as well. To keep with the theme of the year, the only picture I have of the month is one of our tree. It is a work in progress and probably will be for the next few years. I did not inherit my grandmother's ability to work with ribbon!
