Tony did a great job running the Hood to Coast relay this past August. He ran the last leg onto the beach!

We had a blast with some friends as they created a haunted graveyard in their backyard for Halloween. Tony helped scare kids, and I passed out candy. It was awesome!

We sold my car :( I'm still in a bit of mourning to be honest. I loved my RSX. It was almost impossible to get our carseat in the back of it so we got a Subaru Forester instead. Goodbye Acura. You were the best car I could have had for the last 8 years.

PDX Update

Well as our summer officially winds down and Tony starts his new position, it is a good time to update the things we've been up to lately...

We successfully moved to Portland at the end of June. We are pretty well settled and are enjoying being close to family and friends. We are meeting new friends at church and are trying to get involved with weekly Ultimate games and basketball.

We had a fun vacation to Michigan in July. We visited my parents and also took some great side trips that included: Chicago, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Palmyra (NY), Kirtland (OH), and Cleveland. Some of our favorite memories included seeing the Blue Man Group in Chicago, a tribute band to The Beatles in Toronto, and visiting historical sites for our church.

After a great vacation we were back in Portland for a short time before heading to Tony's graduation. He graduated with his PhD in Clinical Psychology from BYU. Way to go Tony! It was so wonderful to see him achieve this big goal... one that he has been working on since the day I met him :) We celebrated with a BBQ in the Provo canyon and then had a quick trip to Bryce Canyon with some friends that traveled from Portland for the big event.

As one could imagine, the summer went by WAY too fast with all of the traveling that we did.. but we had a blast! Now Tony is about to start the 3rd week of his job, with orientation over and his normal schedule setting in. I'm continuing to look for a temporary position till our baby is born and in the meantime I'm having fun babysitting my adorable neice once a week.

Pictures from our travels are forthcoming! I hope that everyone has had a wonderful summer. While I am sad it is coming to an end... I can't complain because I LOVE the fall. It's absolutely gorgeous in Oregon. So come visit! :)

BIG NEWS!

Hey Everybody!

You may have heard.. but we are expecting a baby BOY set to arrive early January of 2011! We are so excited and can't wait for our little family to grow.

In the meantime we are enjoying the simplicity of just being the two of us. Like not taking late night dates and lazy mornings for granted :)

An ode to summer

I love summer and it never seems to disappoint. Here are a look at the past few summers we have enjoyed together:

2006:

Tony and I met and began dating in the fall of 2005. In the summer of 2006, I drove out with Tony to Portland for my first visit there. It was my first time in Oregon and I loved it! I stayed with Tony's sister Amy for a few days, and with my friend and roommate Rosie for a bit in McMinnville. We took a trip to Salem and the coast, and celebrated the fourth of July with fireworks in front of Amy's house in Portland.

2007:
The summer of 2007 was my family's last summer in Texas before they moved to Michigan. I love San Antonio and couldn't miss an opportunity to show Tony my hometown. We had a great time (although Tony was very HOT the whole trip) seeing the sights of downtown and spending his birthday at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

At the end of the summer I flew out to Portland for another trip there. I had a great time with Tony and we went back to Cannon beach for a day. At the end of the trip we drove back to Utah together.

2008:
For Tony's birthday in 2008, we had a BBQ at his place in Provo. With Tony's birthday on June 1st we are always able to have great parties.
I spent the summer of 2008 traveling quite a bit. I went to Southern California to be with one of my best friends, Mindy. We had a BBQ on the beach, did plenty of shopping, and just soaked up the sun.
The best travels of 2008 had to be my family vacation to Venice, Italy. It was the best trip I've ever been on. We cruised out of Venice to Croatia, Turkey, and Greece. It was awesome!!

2009:
I kicked off the summer of 2009 with a graduation from BYU! Right after that I had to head to California for a summer internship. Tony helped me drive to California and we had a good little trip.
Tony came back to California to visit for his birthday. We spent the day at Disneyland and had an absolute blast. This is my favorite trip we have ever taken together.
The summer of 2009 ended with a bang! I flew from California to Portland for the 4th of July weekend and Tony proposed!

Here's to a great summer of 2010 and many many more to come :)

Catching up...

I had great intentions of posting honeymoon pictures of our trip to Kaua'i about 2 months ago... but somehow I seem more content reading other blogs than actually keeping ours updated. Oops :) So.. while those are still to come... eventually... here is an update of what is happening in our newlywed lives:

First and foremost, our time in Pullman is rapidly coming to an end. Tony is about to complete his year long internship and we move this Saturday! Needless to say we are quite excited for the next adventure in our life in Portland! Tony will be back in his hometown after 11 years and I know he couldn't be more excited to live close to family and friends. I'm happy to be close to the people we love and am excited for all of the things there are to do in Oregon. So for now we are packing! And in between packing we are watching the World Cup. It has definitely been exciting this year as we cheer on our favorite teams into the next round! Go South Korea and USA!!!!

Next week we head to Provo, UT for the next big thing in our lives.. Tony's dissertation defense! Tony is set to defend his dissertation on July 1st. It's so wonderful for me to see how hard Tony has worked to be able to get to this point. I'm so proud of him!

For the rest of the summer we are looking forward to some relaxing time in Portland, a trip to Michigan to be with my family, and Tony's graduation in August before he begins his postdoc at Reed College at the end of August. And somewhere in between all of that I will try to find a job!

I hope that the beginning of summer is treating everyone well, with nice weather and relaxing times!

How do you document the best day of your life?? With photos I suppose, because words can't really describe how wonderful the day was for us. First and foremost, we are so grateful for the support of our families, especially for our parents. We are so thankful for their love and generosity for making our wedding day so wonderful!

Tony and I were blessed to be married in the Portland Oregon LDS temple. Being married in the temple was very important to us.

Because our marriage ceremony was in the LDS temple, only members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints were able to attend the ceremony. We had so many friends and family that we love that could not attend so we were thrilled to exchange our wedding rings in front of everyone at the Governor Hotel, before our dinner reception. Adrianna's grandfather spoke about the significance of wedding rings, and Adrianna's bishop, Bishop Duncombe, talked about the importance of the temple and officiated the exchange of the rings.

Tony and I were so excited to participate in a traditional Korean ceremony. The best way I know how to describe the ceremony is like a blessing on the marriage by our families. Tony and I wore traditional Korean clothing and bowed to our elders to show them respect. In turn, they gave us blessings or wishes for our marriage and then threw dates and chestnuts for me to catch in my skirt. Tony's aunties helped me with getting up and down for all of the bowing, and for catching our wishes in my skirt. Tony and I loved participating in this ceremony with our families and enjoyed sharing the Korean culture with my family.

After the ceremonies, we had a lovely reception! I couldn't post ALL of the pictures I have.. literally I have over one thousand... but we had a lot of fun!
