lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

today i was finally brave enough to venture forth into the unknown alone...hazel, lucy and i went to the zoo. it was a blast, and not just of heat. hazel was so excited to see all of her favorite animals. i think at first she was shocked to see how big they all are but she got over that and wanted to hold them. hazel had a lot of fun making faces and waving at us from the underwater tunnel. i don't think she even realized
that there were fish swimming above her. we only made it through about a third of the zoo before lucy and the heat sent us home but we are looking forward to the next time.

when lucy joined the family, hazel was the recipient of many peace offerings. one of these was a really cute minnie mouse outfit, complements of her aunt jewel. doesn't she look precious!

this is for everyone who hasn't seen pretty little thing 2. lucy is super cute and lovable and, now that life is starting to get less stressful, fun. she has been lots harder than hazel. lucy spits up a lot and cries so loud. she made the move very interesting and lots of work. hazel enjoys helping. she is very good around lucy, for a 22 month old.

'woo-cy, shshshshshsh!'

we must give credit where credit is due. since july our stress levels have reached their limit; between the terrible twos, colic, selling a condo, driving to texas, finding a new place, and being stuck in a hotel for a week, our sanity is questionable. hazel has listened to our frustrated pleas for little lucy to pipe down and started to mimic. now whenever lucy starts to fuss, hazel chimes in with a very wet 'shshshshshshsh!'

getting started

due to the many miles between us, we've decided to start this blog in order to stay in touch with y'all. we hope to post as often as possible (and until we make friends out here that shouldn't be too difficult). so in the comments, all you veteran bloggers and especially you grandparents, give us your suggestions on what we could write about. until then, to get started here's hazel's word of the day.
