with difficulties fromt the company filters, etc making photo downloads very tricky, and being now the proud mama of a beautiful Sony alpha 100 digital camera, i just can't NOT do pictures on my blog anymore. so stop in for tea some time
in blog-cruising over my morning cuppa, wandered past a site inviting a haiku for the season. not a particularly gifted poet myself, i don't often attempt this, but was struck by a bolt of (i thought) inspiration. all things being relative, we must keep in mind that inspiration for a non-poet does not rank highly among those gifted by the muse, but i like it, so here it is.
season's gluttony wholistic oblivion darkening my soul
where are Peace, Love, Joy? few wise ones are wandering with gifts not pillage
look to the children gift them with ancient wisdom love of man and earth
and on a less serious note, i've finally got my new Mac, AND the beautiful digital SLR i've been lusting after for just ages, so am hoping over the holidays to learn how to use the things well enough to update the look of my blog and post a few pictures

we had our 2nd annual biofuels conference last weekend. one of the guest speakers was Lyle Estill, who made a big impression last year, and didn't let us down a bit when he returned for an encore. here's his site. http://energy.biofuels.coop/
Money isn't everything, but it IS SOMETHING. Self-sufficient livng in the bush yielded marginal success. Tried to make it on creative brilliance, but not much lit up. Learned some skills-house painter, rough (read "uses chainsaw")carpenter, etc.
Took a 2 year business course at the local college-finance and accounting.
And found myself.
Numbers are reliable. They always give the same answer-never change their minds, wear out, break, leave or go out of style. If something doesn't add up there's an answer if you patiently look. There is order in the universe!
No longer an itinerant fiddler/artist, I'm an accountant with a creative side.
Started in a city, moved to a bush cabin, the Yukon, apartment in the city, farm, and back to the city. Through it all yearning for a big yard with trees for the kids to climb, garden, and studio.
Bought a run-down, old frame church in a small town, complete with maple trees and raised the last 2 of 4 kids there. The realtor who sold it to me felt guilty selling it to a single mom;he helped renovate. Still one of my best friends. Of course, never finished it while the kids were here - it's nearly complete.
