Our Christmas moring started about 2:30 am when Spring called to tell us they were awake and we could Skype. It was fun seeing their excitment and being a part of it. It was fun watching them go through their stocking and seeing how excited they were with their very own box of cereal. Since Joshie loves Poptarts he got them instead of cereal. I don't think he ever put it down. A letter was written to Sammy from Santa with a picture of the ramp he would be getting. Santa explained to him that his had been damaged and he would get it the next morning. I was so impressed with the way Sammy handled it. He was so excited that he was going to get a ramp that waiting an extra day was fine with him. It was fun watching as each of the children opened their gifts and to see their excitment. I'm so glad that Jen and Joel lets us be a special part of their Christmas morning and share this special time with us through Skype.
After going back to bed a getting a few more hours of sleep, Brandon called to invite us there for breakfast and to watch their children open gifts. We woke up to snow and it was still snowing so it took us a while to get there but was worth the trip. Isaac and Lydia were excited as they showed us their stockings. We had a wonderful breakfast then it was time to open gifts. Again we were blessed to be a part of their excitment as they opened their gifts. We gave them hugs and kisses as we headed back home to meet Alanna and Eric. They had been at Eric's parents and were coming here for Christmas dinner. The snow had turned to rain and it was much easier driving home.
We were able to talk to Kim and wished that her and Matt could have been here as well. We miss having all our children here but are thankful for them times we can be together and for the ability to call and Skype.
Alanna helped me with dinner and Brandon, Heather and the kids came about 5:00. As we were eating dinner Isaac looked at me and said, "Grandma, you look like Pirate Jake." (I had a scarf on instead of a wig) I laughed and said he was right, then explained to him why. He was so cute about it. So now I laugh when I wear a scarf that I'm being Pirate Jake. After dinner we all opened gifts and visited. It was the end of a great day. My only regreat is that I didn't even take any pictures.

Tribute to a Dear Friend
My dear friend, Carol Jones, past away on Sunday after a long battle with overian cancer. A couple weeks before Christmas they went to AZ. to a cancer clinic in hopes they would be able to help her. Plus Carol didn't like the rain and gray winters here. After being there a month the Dr. said there wasn't anymore they could do for her. When Carol called to tell me they were coming home, she said she didn't trust that Dr. and wanted to come home to her Dr. here. They arrived home last Monday afternoon after a long drive. I called her Tues. morning to see if she was up to a short visit and she said she was. I took a bouquet of balloons to help brighten her day. After visiting with her for a few minutes I told her I'd better go so I didn't wear her out. She wanted me to stay longer so we continued to visit. Bob asked me if I could bind a baby quilt she had made for their newest great-granddaughter. I was so happy that they asked me to do that for her. Then Carol had one more request, she asked me if I would go to the temple and help her through a session. I told her I'd be glad to go anytime she felt like going. That was a request I didn't get to fulfill, but would have loved to. I am so grateful for my last visit with her and was pleased that she seemed more chipper when I left than she was when I got there.
Tribute to Carol: 1. I was her visiting teacher from the time we moved here up until about 5 years ago when she wanted us to become partners. I asked the RS Pres. if that would be possible and she made the change. 2. She was my secetary when I was YW Pres and also when I was RS Pres. 3. She loved teaching Primary and was Brandon's teacher when we first moved here. He loved her as did the others she taught. I was usually her sub. whenever she needed one. 4. She always had a smile on her face. 5. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. 6. Even when she was too sick to go VT with me she was always concerned about our sisters. 7. She was a great listener, never judged and always tried to help. 8. She is the first person who taught me to quilt. That quilt took me 12 yrs. to finish. 8. She had a grandson who died shortly after birth, I'm sure he was there to meet her. I'm sure that was a glorious meeting.
These are just a few of the reasons I loved her. She was truly my friend and gave me so much. When Bob called and asked if I would help Penny (their daughter-in-law) dress her body, I was honored, since it was the last act of service I could perform for her. She will be missed by many. Again I am grateful for the plan of salvation which gives us the knowledge that we will see those who have past from this life again. I miss my friend!
