Speaking of hockey...
With hockey evaluations scheduled to start in less than two weeks, KJ&C are back on the ice getting some prep time in. All this week, they are taking a power skating camp which will help improve their speed and strength.
It's been a great camp so far and the other skaters in it are of similar levels to all three boys so it gives them a good push to work hard.
Coincidentally, the Olympic Oval, where the camp is being held, is the place where KJ&C first laced up skates and stepped on the ice at 3 years of age :)

Hair Today...Gone Tomorrow!!
It's that time of year again when KJ&C's hair gets to the unmanageable point. They've been complaining about knots in their hair while brushing, and their hair has taken a beating this summer with all the swimming they've been doing.
So we fixed it...all ready for Grade 3 in two weeks. And I'd say their hockey helmets will fit a little better now :)

Another year over...almost!
It's hard to believe that in just three weeks, Keegan, Josh and Connolly will be done grade 2 and readying themselves for their final year in their current elementary school.
It's been a great year for them, and the first where they were in separate classes. I think they've enjoyed having the classroom time to themselves and being able to make their own friends. And even not being known as much as 'the triplets'. Despite enjoying their individual time, the boys would arrange at least a few times a week to meet up at recess or lunch to hang out and play together.
It will be much of the same for grade 3 in September.
The regular season for hockey ended in March but we are still going strong as Keegan and Josh are playing spring hockey until the end of June. Connolly, though not lacing up the skates, is very much involved as well as the Spring Zombies team manager. He even gets to participate in pre and post game talks and has even given a speech or two following a game.
Even while still playing spring hockey, we are preparing to register the boys for the 2013-14 full hockey season in about 10 days. They'll be in second year novice this season and we hope we'll only have to coordinate two team schedules instead of three this time around. We won't know until mid to late September after evaluations take place where each of them will be placed though, so we will keep preparation for three in the back of our minds just in case.
For July and August, we have lots of fun things planned to keep the boys busy, including them spending a whopping 10 days, without us, in Winnipeg with their cousins and Mama Sherry/Papa Dennis. The time has come where KJ&C are old enough to spend a portion of their summer away from home. Crazy how they're that age already. They'll also spend a week in an awesome university summer camp in July as well as in another great camp at the rec centre in our neighbourhood in August. And surprisingly, no hockey in any of the camps.
We plan to get a few weekends of camping in this summer as well. Let's just hope the summer weather arrives and sticks around so we can enjoy the two-month break before we begin spending our evenings/weekends back in the hockey rink ;)
