where is this headed

the last few weeks have been quite enlightening, in a strange way.
people who i admired much for many years for their academic
credentials - seem to have to jumped off the academic train. cambridge
physicists, harvard mathematicians, london geneticists: is academia
the game of 'last man standing'?
or is this just a train headed to nowhere?

courage

courage and clarity often come together, but that is not always the case. equally often, one is mistaken for the other. courage to explore the lack of clarity is often mistaken for lack of courage. a foolhardy decision that one hangs on to with dear life, shutting down all forms of reconsideration, is praised as clarity, apparently a virtue.
